  8. cablenuts rulez very nice speed VanBuren
  9. i would leave it like that, 2531Kbps then add approx 10% overhead, thats 1,1x 2531 = 2784 / 3000 = 92.8 % of your advertised speed dowstream 740 x 1,1 = 814 / 768 = 106 % of your advertised speed upstream nice
  10. try these files and compare VanBuren
  11. what speed do you get here http://nitro.ucsc.edu/ VanBuren
  12. no problem Im abit geeky when it comes to tweaking internet connections, so i read alot in other forums and sites, and i learned from that here is some sites and forums you can learn more http://www.psc.edu/networking/projects/tcptune/ http://www.dslnuts.com/ http://forums.speedguide.net/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=54 with that info, you can start making your own cablenut files and test what work best for you here is a site where you can build your own files very easy http://j79zlr.com/cablenutXP2k.php if you use it, change Synattackprotect to 0 and test a latency value between 150 and 300 ms your MTU is 1500 like most internet connections beside PPPoE and AOL, and some DW systems alot of tweakprograms has a feature that cablenut dosent have, MTU... that parameter often do more harm then good, cos ppl setting MTU wrong by default windows has path MTU detection enabled, so you will have the right MTU unless a router messing it up, thats why its best to use windows default settings and connect direct to modem, to find the right MTU value ina TCP analyzer like http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks good luck VanBuren

  16. hey 24Kbps tell him to follow all these steps https://testmy.net/topic-2097 hes already at 2400 x 1.1 = 2640/ 3000 = 88% of hes cap, so i dont think he will go much faster VanBuren
  17. hey jsheer and welcome to the forum try bypass your router and connect direct to modem via ethernet, also powercycle your modem, leave it off for 30 full seconds VanBuren
  18. no problem, i like to help, thats great speed oversea i have no idea why your so slow against my pc, it might be a problem in the route VanBuren
  19. i would leave it like that, 742 Kbps then add approx 10 % TCP overhead and thats 816,2/1000 = 82% of cap i assume your capped at 256 Kbps upstream, so if you add 10% to 228 thats 250,8/ 256 = 98% of cap you can try increasing download speed, by changing the TcpWindowSize the default value for you is 17280 increase that in steps of 1440 until you reach a point where speed dosent increase any more so the value to start with is 17280 + 1440 = 18720 and the next 18720 + 1440 = 20160 and so on remember to click save to registry each time you set a new value and reboot good luck VanBuren

  22. i mean the testmy.net server try this file post upload and download speed VanBuren
  23. thats great 418 Kbps, then add approx 10% TCP overhead and your speed is 1,1 x 418 = 459,8 Kbps and thats 459,8/512 = 90 % of your cap you can try finetune even more, but i think this is as good as it gets btw hows your downloadspeed with these settings? VanBuren
