  1. we had this problem before.. https://testmy.net/forum/index.php/topic,2423.0.html check that out we were able to get a computer clean.. That was after we started the post.. i believe..
  2. that is not true on that motherboard.. each stick has to be pair with another.. so you could run dual channel with 2 matched 256mb sticks and 2 512 sticks.. as long as they are the same speed and put in the right slots..
  3. U want to hook me up?? i am looking to get some servers for a swim team.. They cant afford to buy a new box.. I was thing about us scraping my Compaq k6-2 500mhz... Where did you go to school?

    Gamers

I am currently in the Rainbow Six 3 mode.. That is one kick ass game on line! I thought I saw some one else with RS listed.. pm me if you want to play..
  5. the answer is to your setup would be no but you could do this... You can do this according to the Abit manual.. http://file.abit.com.tw/pub/download/manual/english/av8.pdf This will work as long as: Slots 1 and 2, 3 and 4 have to be exactly the same.. so 1 and 2 could be the 256mb and 3 and 4 could be the 512mb I reference this on page 12 of the manual.. The motherboard itself will support up to 4 gigs running dual channel on all 4 slots.. So your config would run at 1.5 gigs.. which is awesome! that should be enough ram for just about anything.. However, you need to make sure that the 256's are matched.. otherwise I am not sure that it will boot.. Let us know how it goes! Also i think they need to be the same speed.. ddr400/333/200
  6. you might want to check out this site.. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/mce/getstarted/default.mspx They seem to have alot of information... I dont really know that much about the Media centers because I have never played with one.. If you can discribe the problem better I might be able to help..
  7. my guess would be that the cpu wasnt seated correctly.. I am shocked that you didnt short the cpu!
  8. just intersting if you were on the @home service you can hack your modem and get outragous speeds.. I know that Comcast replaced all of the modems from the @home area to prevent this..
  9. ummm doubt it.. I am not exactly sure what you want to do.. motherboard information would be helpful.. I do know that you can run 4 sticks in dual channel mode... assuming that they are all matched... Otherwise it would just be the normal way..

    Standby

umm i think i understand the question.. You connect your xbox to your pc to share the internet with your xbox... This is what I got from your discription(first Picture) If that is the setup that you have, assuming that you are not wireless, then you could install a switch(see second picture) As far as standby go it shuts the CPU and hard disks off.. all you are really doing is saving power.. ram is still alive but everything else is stopped.. Hoped that helped somewhat..
  11. you might want to try winrar.. it seems to do a better job than winzip and that utility that microsoft offers.. however, it is a third party file extention.. .rar
  12. I think that that all depends on the motherboard.. eMachines hasnt been in business that long.. so their motherboard can support the newer drives.. assuming that you download the patch to allow the drive to be larger than 137gigs.. I think that that was the barrier they were having problems with.. What os are you using for this motherboard..??
  13. yes.. there is.. depending on the laptop model.. however, Gateway enjoys hiding that stuff so that you get to call into them and talk.. (it make it look like they are still working) http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/dlcenter.asp that should allow you to enter the serial number of the machine and pull up all of the related files..
  14. My guess would be that that old rca wasnt shielded at all.. put the thing by a tv and see what happens.. I am amazed that Comcast didnt upgrade you to the Motorola Surfboard modems after the @home buy out..
  15. Correct electric cables will have an effect on un-shielded ethernet cables... because of electronic interference
  16. hmmm... that is really odd.. the cable modem shouldnt receive any interference that would cause massive packet loss..
  17. Also limiting the DHCP to assign only ip address that is the same number of computers.. would do the same thing that static ips would do.. Mac filtering is a must along with WEP or even better WPA.. Then he will not be connecting at all.. The other thing would be to change your channel to either 1 or 11.. 6 is to generic.. most people dont bother to chage it off of that static channel..
  18. sounds like power.. if it is posting ok then it could be your hard drive.. try removing anything that you dont need.. nics, audio cards, extra ram, ect.. and see if it will boot into windows..
  19. i just download it.. netstat.. that is a slick little program.. to bad you can make it horizontal..
  20. hahaha.. yeah it is a fake.. slashdot got rid of it.. o well.. it was pretty funny!!
  21. http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php that is what I use to use on my rig.. i think that Motherboard monitor also allows you to do just about everything..
  22. no problem that is a good shot.. dell tech support sucks... Hello India.. my computer is broken.. The program you are talking about sounds like speed step for the Intel platform..
  23. macromedia mx 2004 is $399 msrp..
  24. Dlink DI-624+ 802.11b with the turbo 22mb Dlink Di-524 802.11 g Love them both! couldnt think of any reason to switch.. Linksys is great but I have had some experience where they just will not work.. had to return 3 802.11b models.. the config page wouldnt come up.. called tech support and they told me to return it.. o well... Both companies are great!
