yeah i have heard of network magic.. I have no idea how it works.. but I would imagine that it does send some info back and forth to make sure that the connection is still active. They are basically a third party version of what MS offers.. I personally dont have any problem with my network. I run a linux server to host files and user storage. For bandwidth monitoring I have a smoothwall firewall that allow me to monitor traffic inbound/outbound and provides Intrusion Detection and a really good hardware firewall. You can see what I have here : http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-12800 If you are looking into sharing files.. I would highly recommend setting up an old computer as a file server. You can create a global share so that all of your computer could have access to the same space and it would be like adding another hard drive. Basically a huge USB flash drive for your entire network. There are product out there that provide NAS, Network Attached Storage, for under $1000.. but you can do everything for much cheaper. For about $300 you could get a new dell box and use that. You might run into the computer not being able to connect to the remote drive.. but a reboot or 15min, the time it takes for MS to detect boxes and shares on a network, and you should be back in business. This would also take care of any extra traffic that is being generate by network magic. Here is a pic of my file server.. :

Ok back on topic please.. Since just about all of the speed tests are gone There isnt much that I can go off of.. If you are still having problem clearing cache, which from what I can see, not a lot due to the missing posts, it look like everything might have not been cleared. I am in no way an expert on CCleaner I guess what some of the guys were saying is that if you post a cached test, normally anything above about 30mbps, they are going to let you know it. It isnt to be mean, an insult on your intellegence, or even you. Just saying.. it is a cached test and that you need to retest to get an accurate result. There is a wealth of info on this site to not only help you but also for you to help others.

one of the tech sites actually tested this.. it was actually faster to run 1 gig of ram than 2.. I dont know why.. but i will try and find the article.. http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/12/13/how_much_ram_do_you_really_need/page6.html this might be it.. but i think there is another one.. Hard drive wise.. if you are going to run a mobo with Sata 3.0GB/s why dont you get a drive that supports it? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144013 built a 4800+ x2 system with 2 of the 300gig version on raid 0 for a client a few months back.. They are quite but they get really hot.. so might want to think about a case fan to blow some air over them.. Also one of the drives arrived DOA.. make sure if there is any clicking or you cant find the drive.. to call maxtor!

I would say that it is above average... not the best.. that would be kaspersky.. But in the November 2005 PCmag there was a chart with how long it took manufactures to release definitions that would deal with the big viruses.. AntiVir had 4 of them out with in .5 days, 2 with in 1 day and 1 that took more than a day.. that one was zotob-b
