I would argue this but then again I dont want to argue. Anyway my point being #1 most Americans I know use their car for alot of useless trips and joyrides. They dont carpool or do anyting to cut their consumption. I know I dont. #2 Hybrid cars have been out for years and dont sell that well, they are reasonably priced but we continue to buy up SUVs and other gas guzzlers at an enourmous rate. Nothing is ever going to MAKE the prices come down period. Nothing. The government can always try to regulate it but IMHO that is the last thing needed. For example China's economy is growing at a 10% clip and ours at about 3% which is still great. But if we tell them ok you can only make so much money here in the US they will just go to a oil hungry nation like China and sell away while giving us the finger. Lets face it ever since the first car rolled off the line gas prices have increased and are not going to stop.. ever.. because they have it... we want it. Period. Sucks to be us.

My kinda guy.. cups half full.

Untill consumers show less demand there would be no reason to lower prices unfortunantly.

There is a way around that but it is illegal and cant be discussed here. If it is a legit copy you can probably call MS and report the problem, otherwise you are just screwed unfortunantly. They do this prevent online trade of windows and once Windows has been registered so many times on different hardware it will block it. Hope you find a way around it. If it is Windows XP home you are entitled to put it on all computers you own from what I understand, if it is Pro they can kinda screw you there. They gouged us at my place of work.

Yea I remember when you could build so many things from scratch just by going to Radio Shack. Now its just low budget computer, RV cars, a few cell phones and what not. Kinda disappointing. Although I do remember my favorite pc was baught from radio shack in 1989 I believe.. A TANDY.. WOO HOOO. I think I had a 4 MB hard drive. I played silent service all the time and it was all dos baby. -

Just go to create DVD, then click the "add file" button find your DVD ISO file and double click it. This will add it to your DVD, then hit burn to disc and your home.

Lightning Season Is Here...is your modem wearing protection?

Edit: Removed my explination due to reading cholla's. I must have misunderstood. -
Well the only way to do that is for the person who made the file to make it in DVD ISO format. If they didnt do it then you must encode which takes all that extra time. So if you find a specific file you want and it comes in different file types get the DVD ISO format, if you dont have the option then you are just out of luck unfortunantly.

You could also invest in a GFI plug that will help provide a lil extra protection for not much investment. -
When you go from one type of encode to another you get HUGE file size differences. When you make a CD/DVD to play in a DVD player there are very few options that will play right. VCD, SVCD, DVD-Video and so on. So when you take an AVI file and make it so it will work on a DVD player it must decode then re-encode the video to make it so the DVD player can understand it. This is what is making the file so big. Your other questions were answered well already. The amount of time depends on your comp and how many programs you are running in the background. I have a 8x DVD DL drive and always burn at 8x with no probs. Some peoples say they notice a difference when burned faster but probably dont. Burning slower is smarter though due to the fact you get lots fewer disc errors and therefore fewer waisted discs. Just remember when you burn a disc the reason it is taking so long is to decode and reencode the video. So if you are using a DVD burner it is best to just get the video file in a DVD ISO so it doesnt have to encode... this will save you hours on just one disc, much more time than if you upgraded the speed of your drive.

You can always just enable MAC filter and only allow your comp's mac on there. http://192.168.1.1 Input this in your web browser to go to the setup. Default access password isAdmin. You need to change these. Then find the tab at the top that says MAC filter. You can also use this section to see if anyone is on it but you. Just hit the refresh mac list under this tab and normally it will just show your MAC address. If someone else is on it they will be shown as well. You then put in your MAC address and hit the "only allow this mac address" button. Simple as that, and unless they are really persistant nobody will get past this. Hope it made since. http://panasonic.co.jp/pcc/products/en/netwkcam/technic/rtr_setup/linksys_wrt54g.html this may help as well.
