As fatty said you are pretty close to your cap. You should set your wireless router with mac restrictions and wap to keep anyone else from stealing some of your speed. Also try changing channels on your router. If you are playing games with voice chat your speed ratings is baarely enough so that may be contributing to your problems.
Oh also welcome to the site. Glad we were recommended. Hope you enjoy the site and stay a while. You can also try tweaking your connection some that may help.

In the past few years I have owned nothing but laptops and always leave them plugged in. I have had no problems with it before. Rich's first post explains it pretty well. All the laptops I have owned quit sending power to the battery after it is done charging. You can check to see if your shuts off after fully charged by going to control panel then power options, it will tell you if it is actively sending power to the battery or not.

Nope I am positive I had it on the side of my house. Not saying its not a new rule but I know I did, it was right next to my dtv dish. Anyway I searched a little and alot of place still advertise mounting on the side of the house. Dont guess it matters, if the author of this thread wants to try he can call around.
Try repairing your connection if you have XP sp2 by right clicking the connection and click repair. You also should power cycle your modem and router once you get everything lined out. If all else fails try unplugging your modem and router. Plug in the modem after about 5 minutes. Then after a couple minutes plug your router in and connect to your modem. Let the system set about 3 minutes and then go for it. IMO you dont need all that encryption either. I live in an apartment with 6 wireless connections in my range and most are unprotected. MAC filter and wap is all I used. Unless you have some really sensitive things I wouldnt bother doing all that. You could also dry restoring your router to factory settings and connect, if it works then you just trouble shoot to find out what the problem is. Hope this helps.
Well thats funny I mounted mine on the side of my house with a bracket... HUmmmm, you distorte my perception of reality.
