  5. I didn't think of that. Frickin amazing. Those people must be deaf now. Also, ya think they'd have better security these days.
  6. This page has a list of modems approved for use with Comcast.
  7. Umm, yes they can. They can terminate your service for stealing bandwidth. Uncapping is ILLEGAL.
  8. Welcome to the forums, Strotti. I'm not sure about the availability in FL, but yes the 8Mb plan is $10 extra.
  9. If not all your modem lights are staing on, then something is wrong with your connection. Sounds like to me it can't stay connected for some reason. I'd guess they messed up something when setting up your connection, possibly a filter or amp problem. Let us know how it turns out.
  10. Yikes! Lemme guess, there's a runway just a few thousand feet from them? Hopefully that's it.
  11. He probably has Verizon FIOS (Fiber Optics) . They offer speeds up to 30Mb.

  14. If your XP CD doesn't have a hologram on the labe Sounds like you got a fake copy of XP. MS has been using hologram cds' for a while now. If I were you I'd report the seller to MS.
  15. If you don't share files on a home network, than you can remove "File and Printer Sharing". Leave the others alone. Go to http://www.broadbandreports.com/tweaks/ and the link to the results here. Also, do you have a firewall? If yes which one? Do you have a router?

Here's mine. All stealth except port 113. But that's a Zone alarm thing. IDENT, ZoneAlarm, and ShieldsUP! Even though your computer's web browser already has a relationship with the web server at GRC, our tests originate from a different "foreign" IP address. ZoneAlarm therefore drops incoming packets to port 113 from this different probing IP address and ZoneAlarm users see that port 113 is stealthed to passing Internet scans. To demonstrate how ZoneAlarm (and perhaps someday other firewalls or NAT routers) selectively "unstealth" port 113
  17. It looks like to me, he's trying to set up a speed test mirror.
  18. Damn, 87MB, even in safe mode I can hardly get that little.
  19. You mean a metal key? I mean the product key. A series of numbers and letters.
  20. No they probably wouldn't. I guess I read your original post wrong. I've never bought a boxed XP disc, but I don't think they use those yellow labels anymore. Your XP book should have a sticker with your product key on it that you put on your case. Edit: you may also want to check here. That page tells you how to check if your cd is real or counterfeit.
  21. Welcome to the forums, goblin24. Have you read the Sticky and tips topics (the first 2 on this board) yet?
  22. It's probably a router made specfically fora certain ISP. The VDI-624 is another example.
  23. I saw him remove the second piece live today on tv. The (local) morning news show I watch tuned in just in time. It didn't look like "fabric" to me. I looked like a flat piece of plastic or something like that. I love that we get to see this stuff live like never before though.
