yea.. thats it.. my download is a constant 426 on good servers, and about 385 on REALY large files. That is my max thats the best this 3mb/s connection will do, aka " maxed out "

yep thats exactly what they told me lol. I had a bad router, that was basicaly taking packets and kickin g the shit out of them before it got to me and my speeds wouldnt exceed 1.5 mb/s on a 3 mb/s line. Tech support says " well its UP TO 3mb/s [...] ... " i was like ".......you bastard.."

i had the same prob with cstrike. If you can set your fps to a certain amount ( like in cstrike its fps_max <number> ) set it to about 50 or 60. Because when you host a game, the players needing to connect need the servers fps. when you connect to your own server , your using the servers fps for yourself. When you use too much of the servers fps, it lags and peoples pings shoot up. has nothing to do with your connection

with optimum online, it doesnt matter which package you get, youll deffinatly be on a better connection. OO is one of the best ISP's avaliable for the price. A few people i know from new york ( brooklyn , queens and the stat. island) have OO , and their paying $40.00 for cable, and getting 10mb/s aka T1 speeds. I highly reccomend OO.

I restarted my computer this mornijng after god knows how long, and i went to testmy to do my usual connection test, especialy this morning since my internet was running CRAZY slow... not loading things, just getting them to show up. So i clicked smartest , and 6 times in a row it says and im like "rofl..." so i go to a large® test, and i try it and its saying my connection is blazing http://s1pwnsyou.camaroz.net/hmm.jpg lol... im wondering if my email to the aol techs informing them of the faulty router in the VA datacenter got thru Oo.... hmmm! lol 1 time this guy tried sending my network a virus, and an obvious one at that claiming it was a network esploit patch from my network. lmao... but IM the network manager, and im pretty sure i didnt send Myself a virus attached email. So i traced the email back to its sender server ( the address listed wasnt the right one.) and sent him an amil back saying " hey thanks for the patch!! works great! ill attach my results below" in an .JPG file embeded with a ftp download of the blaster worm , lol.( commonly done in videos) After that i never got any more email's from him but i suppose he did open the picture because the next day my computer was running abit....slowly,.... and when i scanned with norton antivirus i had a virus that multiplied a little over 4000 times

Toshiba, Linksys and motorola are your best bets. ^ i have a toshiba modem, and its an awesome modem. So i reccommend it. An if you dislike that, then the other 2 are also very nice.

i dont think tweaking will help this situation. If its others too, you ned to call comcast tech help.

- Changing the modem wouldnt work, since comcast has specified serial numbers for each modem ( white sticker on back usualy) thats goes with that connection. - For the extra $10 its deffinatly worth the upgrade with 15 comps on a single cable line. - Comcast uses the config files sent by your isp to cap you, like vanburen said. And uncapping would be basicaly analing yourself.
