  1. AH HA I fixed it. I went outside all the way to the street main hub and I disconnected my cable plugged it back in on every single connection 2 which is at the street under their box and the one at the house where it splits to the rooms and the modem line. after that I did a powercycle and i seen it logged on at DOCSIS2.0 and when I tested i was getting 5+ megs upload again. I should of realized that we had a heavy heavy rain storm right before the speed dropped an all of the connections at the street are just a little below ground level. it must of rained 2 inches in 2 hrs it was running over all the gutters shich are perfectly clean and it was running up in the yard over the curbs.
  2. ya I used to have spybot and another called adaware I think. I just havent used them because my computer cam with norton IS9 and I upgraded to Internet Security 10 and it had a spyware checker. I will go ahead and download the Other 2 though just to be safe. One really funny thing happened today though my girlfriend moved something in th room where the modem is and it got unplugged, which is usually no issue cause it has batery backup, but we didn't know and it went dead and then I got back home and noticed I had no internet so I went and looked and plugged it back in now I get about 10meg download and 3,3 meg upload on this site. I thought everything seemed faster so I thought I would check. I really only trust this site for speed tests but I also have saved tests to compare against too. I have some stuff thet popped up on my modem what do you think this may mean looks like alot of errors to me Date Time Event ID Event Level Description 11/21/2009 21:07 20000200 3 No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out 12/3/2009 16:21 20000400 3 Received Response to Broadcast Maintenance Request, but no Unicast Maintenance opportunities received - T4 timeout 12/3/2009 16:21 17000100 3 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing 12/3/2009 16:21 17000400 3 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to receive MAC SYNC frame within time-out period 12/3/2009 16:21 17000100 3 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing 12/3/2009 16:21 17000400 3 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to receive MAC SYNC frame within time-out period 12/3/2009 16:21 17000100 3 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing 12/3/2009 16:22 17000400 3 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to receive MAC SYNC frame within time-out period 12/3/2009 16:22 17000100 3 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing 12/3/2009 16:22 17000400 3 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to receive MAC SYNC frame within time-out period 12/3/2009 16:22 17000100 3 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing 12/3/2009 16:22 17000400 3 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to receive MAC SYNC frame within time-out period 12/3/2009 16:22 17000100 3 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing 12/3/2009 16:22 17000400 3 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to receive MAC SYNC frame within time-out period 12/3/2009 16:22 17000100 3 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing 12/3/2009 16:22 17000400 3 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to receive MAC SYNC frame within time-out period 12/3/2009 16:22 17000100 3 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing 12/3/2009 16:22 17000400 3 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to receive MAC SYNC frame within time-out period 12/3/2009 16:22 17000100 3 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing 12/3/2009 16:23 13000401 5 ToD request sent - No Response received; CM-MAC=00-15-cf-01-9a-7a;CMTS-MAC=00-14-f1-eb-5d-7a;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=1.0 I promise I will check back sooner this time. I will also get those programs and run them too.
  3. ya I get ya. so you think maybe I have something in my router that after a while causes the modem to run slow?? so even when I changed modems the first time it worked until that "invader" got back to the modem?? and that even without the router the modem is now contaminated?? I thought the N was able to go 108 transfer rate or higher where the G is limited to 54?? Either way I have to have a new modem cause I am supposed to be getting the Ultra package which is 20/6 and in order to have that it has to be DOCSIS 3.0 and the one I have is only 2.0. I did get new firmware for the router awhile back Ill look and see if there is a new one. actually I think I did see one but I needed to LAN the router to install and I forgot till now. I'll try that and see how it goes. Thanks for trying to help I know how frustrating it can be and how many variables can cause issues sometime technology is a B**** wait till we have power grid issues and people go without electricity for months at a time or longer it be fun then
  4. normally yes I use a dell router. its a 2004 or 2005 model but it seems very dependable I have never had any problems with it although my new laptop is 802.11 N capable and it is only a G router so some time here I wlii be upgrading it. but with or without the Modem I get the same results.
  5. I forgot to add this stuff from my modem. I forgot what some of it means so I will post all of it. 6. ya sorry I should of said that. I am so used to doing all the standard stuff like removing router, powercycles, cleaning up temp files etc. that I forget to mention I have done those things. Same speed with other brand new computer that was getting fast speeds just like me when we first got it about 3 weeks ago lol. I had this issue in june but it was more limited to upload and they said they seen nothing but I made them send out tech, He still found nothing and tried to blame everything but the cat for the issue. I finally told him I was sure it had to be the modem and I wanted the new one I had asked for, so he installed it and it fixed it till about 3 weeks ago. This time I notice a drop in download too. I really hate having techs come out though they use (their speedtest site) which usually runs about 2-3 megs faster then here and they say look you are close you are fine. I get them though because I am a member on here and do a test at least once a month so I can show them my last 100 or so tests and my speeds here and how they dropped. I don't think they like that to well I have noticed. I think I know to much for them to blow smoke up my and it upsets them when I call them on their lies.
  7. I didn't see where you live but I know here In portland, OR we have a server issue or a router or something. I used to get 16+Mbps download and 6+Mbps upload and a 11-24ms ping, but for the last 2 weeks or more I have been getting a 300+ms ping and a download of 10+Mbps and a upload of 0.3-0.5 Mbps. I have tried everything except switching out my modem. Then today I just tested 1 1/2 min ago and I get a 24ms ping again and my download is back to 16+Mbps and a upload of 6+Mbps. I noticed all kinds of page opening issues and other online problems with the extremly high ping. The sadast thing is all 3 times I talked to Comcast tech they said they could see no Issues with my modem and they never mentioned anything about a server issue or router issue. I wish they would just be honest and say "ya we are having issues and are trying to fix them"rather then blow me off.
  8. I am wondering if anyone else has this issue?? I had the same type of issue in June and I had to change my modem and all of a sudden withing the last week my upload speed has dropped. I have done everything I can think of reboots,Powercycles,Internet file cleaning, etc, etc. Nothing changed still get the exact same 90% drop. I talked to comcast they say they see my line info and all looks good to them. My download speed is exactly the same as always. I think I need to replace modem again. I am just wondering if anyone else has had an issue withing the last 20 days or so?? Thanks I will get some test speeds and modem data posted in a bit.
  9. my new speed after getting my EMTA changed out they tried to say it was a splitter but its funny how as soon as I changed the EMTA all was good again actually better than ever now.
  10. Ya I also found out that that great price lock they have is only for new costumers or people who don't have all three services. I really like my internet its better than any other provider in my area. I have had some horendous storys with MCI,Qwest and verizon says they dont cover my area. I am thinking about dropping my tv service and looking into the Direct TV or Dish I had Direct TV in 97 through 2001 and I loved it. Its just to bad that after 2 solid years of this package and not missing a payment I cannot get some kinda discount. My package went from 109 a month to 150 and they say their is nothing they can do to hook me up with some discount.I even had to drop my Starz because it made it almost 170 a month. If i wasn't so dependant on the internet I would drop the whole thing for a month then re install and get the deal but with my schooling and stuff I cannot do that. I am looking into other options so when I go back in I will have some bargaining room so maybe they will work with me if I have a option to cancel some of my subscription service.I figure they would want to keep me at a lower rate then loose me all together.
  11. I had an issue with my EMTA and the tech on the phone said I should change it. SO I had to wait for a tech to come out to the house because they don't stock those at the store. I get the bad one disconnected and ready for the tech so i could change it out fast and he had all kindsa Ideas of what could be the problem. he said it could be my router or because I am using wireless. I told hime I already connected straight through the EMTA and it was the issue my upload speed ent from 3MBps to .3 about a month ago then he said it was my splitter it could be the problem even though I had no download speed issue or phone issue only upload speed when we finally get done and I get the new EMTA all is good. Then he has me go to speedtest at comcast .net and of course it says I am getting 20 download and 9 upload but when i check on testmy.net I am at 12 download and 6 upload which is what i was at before my EMTA went caput. I just thought that was funny all the things he tried to blame it on and then how he made me think i was getting a faster speed than I actually get. I figure what about all the people that know nothing about the computers and stuff they are really blowing smoke up their butts about stuff.
  12. weird how it is only affecting the upload speed.
  13. I cannot believe I forgot that part I just contacted comcast and of course they told me it was my router so I bypassed the router same exact results so it has to be the modem so of course they are closed already today. I will go in monday and exchange it for a new one hopefully that will fix it. I will let ya all know what happens thanks for the replies
  14. ok here is the oldest and slowest computer in the house but this one is wired to the router (no wireless) and I still get the same results this is XP also I guess I need to check the router and cable modem. First since I am renting the modem from comcast I will exchange it for a new one. Then if that don't work I will get a new router. I don't see where any software or adjustments can be made because 3 diffrent computers using diffrent OS and 2 diffrent ways to get online ( wireless VS wired) and all have basiclally same speeds it has to be a router, modem or comcast themselves issue. thanks I'll keep ya posted on the findings in case anyone else has this issue.
  15. OK thanks i will try that on my new one. I just wish I knew why my upload took a dump. I am okay with the download varying from 14 to 12 its still fast but with that slow of a upload its has to be affecting my internet speed because the slower i send back info the slower it can respond to my requests. and it is about 10 % or worse of what I used to get for upload and it seems to be a global problem no matter which computer I am on so it has to be a router or modem issue cause that is the variable thats stays the same here I am always using the same router and modem I will try one that is not wireless real quick and see if that may be a issue I never thought about that variable.
  16. Ok here I am with a reboot of both Cable modem my wireless router and I even rebooted my laptop and made sure firewall was off just to make sure that wasn't it. has anyone ever had the modem or router go bad on the upload side?? or do they normally just go bad on both upload and download. I am really frustrated here cause I have no idea what to check or what to adjust for this like i said every setting is the same as it was when I did the test that I put in my Sig. any Ideas would be greatly appreciated and just to clear up any confusion this test is done on the laptop that I did the sig test on and it is running XP and is wireless. Thanks again for any suggestions or help it is greatly appreciated. I am willing to buy a new router if needed or take back modem to comcast and get a new one if ya think that would help.
  17. I am going to do a reboot on my router and my cable modem and see if that helps at all I tried that a while ago with no luck but I will try again and post my new test results
  18. This is off of my old laptop with XP I have no Idea what is causing the Upload to be so slow. I know alot of stuff affects the download but what specifically affects upload speed because something here is way out of adjustment because I believe my comcast speeds are 16Megs download and 3 megs upload I believe that is the plan I have anyway I know its not the lowest one but not the Highest one they have either. so any Ideas anyone has would be greatly appreciated.
  19. oh ya my Compaq is running XP and it is all set up with the SG TCP optimizer which worked great as you can see from my Sig and that setting is still the same but now I am getting the speed I posted in the above Post. so I am getting a very slow upload speed with my XP system also. and the settings are the same as were when getting the Sig speed so any suggestions?? thanks
  20. this was my test just a sec ago and this is on my Vista system with now adjustments justnew computer with Vista 64 and all of the windows updates and HP updates so all my updates are up to date but no tweaking of any kind I gues I should let ya know what it is It is a HP Pavilion DV7-1285 dx with Intel Centrino core 2 duo P8600 2.4 GHz processor 6144 DDR2 SDRAM nvidia GeForce 9600M GT with 512 DDR dedicated Graphics memory My other one is a Compaq Presario 2700 Intel pentium III 1.0 GHZ processor 768 Mb memory and it has the same basic internet speed as the new one so I believe the issue may be in my router or my modem if ya need more info let me know
  21. sorry i left somethings out. as you can se in my sig my old upload was 4045 which was higher than avertised now it is between 300 and 405 quite a drop if ya ask me and I have done no changes of any kind.
  22. all of a sudden my upload speed is about 10 to 20 % of comcast normal. I am confused as to what may have happened. I tested on both my old laptop using XP and my new one using Vista 64. My download speed is about 10 to 12 MBPS about normal maybe a little slower than used to be. I also noticed on my new laptop with Vista my wireles shows 12 MBPS where on my XP one it is 54 MBPS I know my router is limited to 54 what can I change on my Vista system to get my wireless back to 54?? so i kinda have 2 questions, what happened to my upload for all computers and what can I do on my Vista System to improve upload and download and set my wireless to be a 54 like my system is supposed to be?? But mostly I want to know how to fix my upload because it affects every computer I have.
  23. sweet new score I seem to get faster as the weeks roll on
  24. IE7 never got to like any of the others tried netscape seemed to slow to me back then and I didn't know of IE8 or i dont think i did it seems to be fast enough for me. as fast as the internet has become since 2001 when i was trying to squeeze every last millisecond out of everything in the computer im ok now HA HA HA HA
  25. yes very cool although I use a Dell and its 192.168.2.1 not 1.1 but then again the top says dell and software but may be made by a diffrent company (hardware)
