  1. You're so close to breaking the 1000 KB/s barrier. Damn, that's a really nice score.
  2. Not the total newbies yes, but most should know that 8 bits go in one byte, even though that is only an approximation for bandwidth speed. It's about having bigger numbers to show off, 500 KB/s is not as amazing as 4000 Kbps download.
  3. It's Kilobits without the typo. Kbps is used for bandwidth, while KB/s is most used for download/upload speed. Testmy.net's test results show both the Kbps and KB/s values.
  4. That's the limit of what your ISP should cap you on. You can never be sure of this, since Cox users get far more than they pay for. Basically, they're advertised speeds, but most never reach them. It's the same with harddisks, advertising that they can hold 40 GB, while it's about 37-38 in fact. If you reach 90% of your advertised speeds you're getting what you pay for, since that 10% tends to be lost in overhead. Also remember that the server you're trying to download a couple of bits from might be too far away to guarantee the fast speeds. I lose 200 kbps when downloading from testmy.net and my ping is about 100 - 150.
  5. 1 MB/s If I would be feeling evil today, I'd be asking about your upload again. But since I'm feeling nice today I won't.
  6. As far as I know they work just fine without. At least, that's how it works for me
  7. Crap, your score is real Keep sending those bits as fast as your ISP allows (preferably faster) so us fast download guys (this excludes me.) can enjoy whatever you have on your computer Amazing score.
  8. By removing vital pieces of coding, as they've done so many times before.
  9. Do you use a proxy server? I've had problems with one before, sometimes it was really slow, and I basically had no internet. Weird. It's been disabled for months now, and I don't miss it one bit. For easy copying do this: tracert testmy.net>tracert.txt It won't show results, but directly parse them in that file.
  10. Eh, as you know Chello is good at preserving bandwidth even for long distances (so, high ping). I'm lucky to have this indeed. But if I don't get maximum speed, it's pointless to try and use a download accelerator when I know the congestion is at my side. That's the unlucky part, since that happens often. You're lucky to have such a huge pipe, and unlucky because you need to use a download accelerator to get full speed. Edit: your pics botched the page. Could you use links next time?
  11. CA3LE... you just went beyond my maximum upload. Congrats.
  12. With "handle it" I mean enough availeble upload for me. Why risk it? I prefer to stay clean without having to check for spyware daily.
  13. That upload How nice of Cox to upgrade, I hope the others follow.
  14. Those who don't tweak, those with lame ISPs, etc. Basically all people that don't know that testmy.net exists.
  15. Note: this technique only works if your pipe isn't fully used with one connection. It's useless for me.
  16. Nice one! Just remember to remember that you once remembered you was a 56k'er, like all of us.
  17. And beware of HP spyware. It's evil.

    Netstat weirdness

Did the port scan @ grc.com (i really advice this website to anyone wanting to test their ports), and found out that they're stealthed, but one port is named: HP Status. The other is called iad3, or BBN IAD. According to some website Google found, it's the loopback interface. Conclusion: I hate HP spyware. Result: HP spyware annihilated. It won't get internet access ever again. Netstat showed no active connections after this. Problem solved.

  20. The machine that does have the muscle power for it, crashes once per 45 mins. I'll leave that one alone. So anything newer than CoD I can't run, and CoD ran very screwy.
