  1. Most of the sats on top of businesses say DirecWay.  they dont say Hughesnet (although they are both Hughes)

There are also two domains. direcway and direcpc.  I think the stores run off direcpc.

If you're on Spaceway 3, you're in the direcway.com domain

and by looking at the profile of the sat, looks like older KU systems.

I might be wrong, but I dont those run off Spaceway 3.

with every gas station and dollar store using hughesnet for their sales transactions its no wonder that the home subscribers have issues. I work in the oilfield and there are several drilling contractors and service companies that use DirecWay with cisco or datastorm routers for transferring real time data stream as well as for voice and fax comm.  I would think that hughes sets aside bandwidth for their larger enterprise customers and the single household consumer gets what is left over.  Try a  air card and cell booster and let 7-11 deal with DirecWay when they run your credit card for a cold six pack.

  2. Good luck! that never got me anywhere, and after speaking to Tier-4, they deemed nothing was wrong

and gave me the famous line "SPEEDS ARE NOT GUARANTEED"..........

hn 7000s modem pro + plan yes i have been dooing speed tests since the 27th of last month per tech support

  3. Any data IN or OUT of your modem is counted against your threshold.

It doesn't matter whether you're doing it for testing purposes or not.

I've went over fap WHILE ACTUALLY ON THE PHONE DOING TESTS!!!!

You should read the other threads about Hughesnet created on here.  I've wrote a book in this forum it seems about my experiences with them.

Contact information for Hughes is posted here as well.  Give William a call! :-)

is it me or is HUGHESNET?

it seems the more i complain to them about slow speeds the more problems i have,IE,this morning i was on fap and i called CS and had it released .i then was transfered to level 3 in Fla.for 2 hrs we ran all kinds of tests ,transfered to level 4 ,after getting off the phone i checked my usage and to my surprise i hand downloaded 51.9 MB from 8-9 am i thought test times were not counted or am i just stupid

    Before that video gets Modded...

    It's a WildBlue speedTest.

Interesting that the IP on the test shows up as being the below. Even though it says WildBlue on the test as the ISP.

    Tracing route to pool-74-104-128-37.bstnma.fios.verizon.net [74.104.128.37]

Which also has a nice enough 114ms ping .

  7. You sound just about like every other ISP tech support person I've ever spoken with.

Wildblue and HughesNet are the WORST for blaming it on your equipment (your pc, etc)...when its their crappy service and equipment not getting the job done.

COMCAST isn't much better.  they run poor quality wire and splitters. they dont fully test our their work after they're through.  I had a comcast tech out SIX times when I lived in Nashville.....Finally they blamed it on my pc (which was a brand new HP system.....I even restored it back to factory defaults)..

The ONLY service I ever had where I had NO issues was BELLSOUTH DSL!  Had it almost 2 years with NO outages, and no tech issues, and no speed issues.  That was ONE solid connection I never had to worry about.

So for those of you cable tech who bash DSL, find something else to blame your frustations on! LOL

Watch it, there are Charter employees who frequent this web forum, such as myself who works in the high speed internet support, and between most of the calls received in one night they are about 90% user error or hardware related problems....about 10% of the problems we work with are indeed most of the time resolved over the phone if not by a 'truck roll' service call.  For those of you who think DSL is better I wish you luck!  Cheers!

  8. Ummmm, filing a complaint with the FCC wont get you DSL any faster (or at all). That route is a waste of time.

I can not get DSL where I live either.  They said I was out of range, and the customer base versus cost is not justifiable....

Also, just because you see a DSLAM, it doesn't mean that its serving your address or your area.

Do, you might as well stop complaining, it isn't going to help . ..  :tickedoff:
