  1. OOOOOOOHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOO, Hughesnet    :biggun: :biggun:

out of the 1.0mpbs pkg. 340 is good, believe me!  I can post you my 30 days worth of speeds that were BELOW

this on the 1.5 Pro Plus Plan

    :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff:

  2. PN Offset on Verizon UM175 (pilot Number)

I'm trying to find what tower I'm connected to.

I've figured out the PN OFFSET in the diag screens means what tower I'm connected to ( I think).

When I'm in the city, I get PN 148, which is great, signal is about -43.

At home, I get PN 200, Signal -74.

From what I've read, a tower has three P/N's, one per "sector".

In the reading there is "ACTIVE", "NEIGHBOR", and "CANDIDATE".

The "CANDIDATE" was the one I was on in the city.

The "ACTIVE" one of course, is the one I'm on now.

So, If I drove up to a tower I thought I was on, Would it register all THREE P/N's of the tower????? or would it just depend on what side of the tower I was "drove up to".

Maybe it doesn't matter, because when I get back home, it auto changes to 200 no matter what . . .

Someone know? I read a few tidbits off Jim's site.

  3. If your neighbors were using your connection, to me that would mean

    (1) You didn't have any security enabled on your wireless connection

    (2) If you DID enable security, they'd have to have the SSID key.

    (3) If you DID enable security, perhaps you could change from WEP to WPA and use another security key.

Ok im new here first so hello everyone!  :grin2:   Next, I was attempting to try to fix my stubborn modem when i ran into this forum in yahoo search.  seems many have issues similar to mine and have had problems resolved from you fine folks here so I HOPE my issue will be the same.  First I'll just give background.  Bare with me I may give too much info lol.

Recently my neighbors were use'n my net and i grew irritated that my connection was being drained so w/ the advice of a friend I go on to my 'network magic' the program given to me w/ my router and I hid my router and when i rebooted the next day i could no longer connect to my own router!  I've attempted everything i can think of on my router it says to go to 192.168.0.1 and put in admin and leave password blank well...i cant get the page to even load.  It's suddenly like my own router is invisbile to me.  Everytime i try to go wireless im finding a belkin router now instead.  I'm new to wireless and feel already very stupid so please be gentle with me lol but I'm out of ideas.  Please if anyone has any ideas please pleaseeeee give them I'm dumb founded!

    Thanks so much!

Nikki, dazed and confused w/ router issues!

  5. One Tower is 7 miles away, and Another is 13 miles away.

I have no idea which ones I'm connected to.  when you run the "ACTIVATION" wizard, its supposed to pick up the strongest signal.

and "update" the phone number it dials????????????????????

Kinda slow this morning... (but still ok compared to what I've had before on other plans).

  10. Well, I just posted this, but it didn't take.  Crap, I hate re-typing posts.

Has anyone ever heard of ACCEL NETWORKS?

The offer FIXED wireless broadband.  Its a regular modem called a "raven x".  Has an ethernet port.  An antenna plugs into

a coax port on the back.

They offer TRULY UNLIMITED wireless access thru Verizon's network (not capped like their 5gb plan).

    but its $129.00 a month!

I have the UM175 from millenicom using the Verizon card and their service.  They CLAIM there is no CAP

(not until you use 6gb, supposedly some members have gotten an email about this)  I'm at 2gb by nights end 7/12!

Im wondering if ACCEL's product and fee is worth it (unlimited), or whether I should stay with millenicom and see how the

first month goes with my usage.......(even then 2 UM175's would yeild 10gb usage @ 120........

    or unlimited on ACCEL's $129......

ANYONE USED ACCEL?????  ANYONE USED MILLENICOM and went over their "invisible cap"??????

    THANKS!

  16. The problem I had in doing this is that I  could not find all the drivers for XP.

Most of the drivers that I could find off the manufacturer's web pages were VISTA drivers (which is what came on the HP notebook).

Like someone else suggested, make sure you BACK UP all  your data, and even more make sure you have a RESTORE DISC of your pc with the ORIGINAL operating system (in case a downgrade doesn't so smoothly)

  17. Satellite, naw, never again (internet that is)....

This wireless broadband so far is better than I expected.

This morning I was kinda ticked because I kept getting connected to "NATIONAL ACCESS", instead of

    BROADBAND ACCESS (REV A)

Something about the HDR RSSI must be locked, the EC/IO must be this and that, I sorta tweaked all of that with notes

I'd found on ther forums.  Since I FINALLY locked into a good signal (card has 10 foot usb extension), I have been

at FOUR bars all day long

HDR (evdo rev a) locks in about 73 (90 starts loosing signal), EC/IO is holding about 2 (up to 6 is ok).

    Been getting about 1mbps consistently.

Got 30 days to try it out.  We'll see.

The cost is $47.99 a month.

I will have to conform to the 5gb cap (that means limiting speed tests).  I still like to watch a few videos in there too.
