  1. MICROWAVE ....Yeah, I've stripped my machine of everything except the bare essentials yet still get the same browser behavior.
  2. 2smart4u ....I am unable to post my upload speeds from testmy.net.
  3. :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 1018 Kbps about 1 Mbps (tested with 748 KB) Download Speed is:: 124 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Bottom Line:: 18 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 8.26 second(s) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/auth_check.cgi?num=252525 My signal strength is usually 97, yet today it's raining so my SS has dropped to 88.
  4. I noticed that LCCU slowed me down.
  5. The little blurb that I started this topic with is just a 'cut and paste' from an article written in 2001, and they were exclaiming how much wonderful space they were enjoying with their new 80GB HDDs that were shipping with the new PCs.
  6. 1000 GB is a terabyte. 1000 TB is a pecabyte. 1000 PB is an exabyte. 1000 EB is a zettabyte. 1000 ZB is a yottabyte. Oh man... a yottabyte.... I don't think there is even a yottabyte of data in existence in the whole world. 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 MB in a yottabyte.
  7. 2smart4u ....Oh yea, I 'hear ya', but as you say they have me under a barrel because they know I wouldn't be doing business with them if there were anything better in my area ... (if there was an alternative other than dialup, nobody in their right mind would use DirecWay right)?
  8. :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 343 Kbps about 0.3 Mbps (tested with 386 KB) Download Speed is:: 42 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Bottom Line:: 6 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 24.38 second(s) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/auth_check.cgi?num=252525 HERE is what I've been talking about.
  9. Hey there budbem! I am 'of the same mind' as you.
  10. http://www.spaceandtech.com/digest/sd2000-25/sd2000-25-001.shtml Yes, I understand that WildBlue and DirecWay will be 'independent', yet I am stating that they'll be sharing the same bandwidths, such as the new satellite being built by Hughes (as indicated in the provided link).
  11. Yeah, you have an IP address, but since nothing on their end is working, (meaning their DHCP is NOT handing you your IP#), the IP# you are looking at "in" your PC isn't correct, or isn't "linked up."
  12. I read an article recently about WildBlue - - stated they would also be using "shared bandwidth" which translates to be identical to how DirecWay purchases/sells bandwidth
  13. I'm not amazed at what you say about DWay.
  14. To get rid of what little LCCU does to a Win XP Pro setup with a DW6000, just go into your Registry and search for "Hughes".
  15. After trying 3,000 different things, I DID find that there are a few things that will help you kick up things when using a DW6000.
  16. Say, I really do like the new format this Forum has adapted!
  17. I've never had any problems (or complaints) with using www.tigerdirect.com for hardware purchases. However, I'm an Intel 'purist' so I'm not the one to be asking about the AMD scene at all! Looking at Tiger Direct pricing for what you have listed tells me they are as cheap if not cheaper than the majority of online retailers. (And everything you have listed is in stock too). For the programs I use, AMD just doesn't supply what is needed, but for gamers AMD seems to be 'heaven.' I guess it's all in what you are using your machine for eh? For $1,500.00USD you should easily get everything you need along with a dual monitor system (if you are into such things). Dual DVD/CD 'burners' are extremely handy (for me anyway), and there's no substitute for high-end NVIDEA's or PNYs on the video end of things IMHO. (But then you have to consider your scanner, printer, peripherals, etc). There is no way around economics, but you sure have plenty to build a fine machine (and save the cost of having a tech do it for you)! Cheers!
  18. Ummm ....no, I don't believe so. Clear days are far more likely to give you a higher signal strength than cloudy days. I think DWay has been experimenting with my satellite or something to that effect. We've been getting all sorts of strange events over the past 6 -7 days or so. I was just making a point that my signals were dropping at times when they should have remained steady, and vice versa. DirecWay ...Where Quality Is Just A Slogan. Cheers!
  19. Then please have YOUR ISP call MY ISP with explicit instructions on how to setup broadband connections! lol... Running at speeds like that outta be illegal or something...
  20. Microwave, you mean that all I needed to do was edit out that last "/" to make it work? ARGH!!!! Sank you!
  21. http://www.google.es/search?hl=es&q=spywareinfo+%2BDirecway+&meta= Then hit the following link. It should be the very first item in the list saying: Spywareinfo: Your Desktop Is DirecWay's Billboard I have no clue why the first link doesn't work since it IS the addy for the website.... but, sorry 'bout that folks
