  1. Then you must wait for some higher wisdom. It looks sound to me.
  2. Looks pretty good I think. Upload speeds are harder to max out. You can always try to use cablenut tweaks to boost it a bit. Try this: https://testmy.net/topic-1013
  3. so sorry, i mean your download test results from this site. btw, tracert looks much better.
  4. can you post results please?
  5. Sure thing: -shut down all computers connected to router -power down router (usually just pull the power cord) -wait a minute or so, and check to secure all physical connections -bring up router, wait one minute -bring up computers EDIT: nevermind about powercycling your radio too. i don't know if that is necessary.
  6. Do you mean how to check signal strength? depending on your configuration you should have an indicator for your wireless adapter/connection, and it will usually say the integrity of the connection. some have a star rating, some say like "very good" or something like that, some might just say the connection speed like 10 Mbps. But your AVG and Panda, and possibly the spyware stuff, can lower the test results. try with them off. i'm not so hot on the physical end of your connection stuff, like where its pointed or whatever, but that should all be ok i think.
  7. do you know what your speeds are supposed to be?
  8. are you with qwest dsl? i see 748 Kbps down and 259 Kbps up.
  9. coconutmonkey88, welcome to the forum yes, there is help! read the posts below in my signature, and post test results please | | | | | | | | V
  10. For sure. It is also the best firewall you can have, so use it if you got it.
  11. Yes, that is much better. Cool, so keep in mind that your router is also a firewall, and with it connected your speedtest results may be lower. That doesn't mean that your actual connection is that low, just the results, so unless you notice a night-and-day difference in browsing and downloading with the router in the connection, it's probably ok. Otherwise, make sure that your router is configured properly with your devices, and that firmware is up to date, stuff like that.

  14. humorman, it's hard to take that statement as gospel with a username like yours. just jokes. anyway, bottom line: there is something going on, most likely on your computer, that is interfering with the test results. these results do not accurately portray your connection at all. disable every program that has to do with the internet (firewalls, antivirus real-time, spyware junk, instant messengers, frickin weatherbug, ALL THAT!) then try again please. no jokes, no offense intended. if you want the most accurate test result, it has to be just your browser, the internet connection, and the download test.
  15. Or wrong hands.
  16. hey mshea, and welcome to the testmy.net forum. you can definitely work on those stats. first off, if you haven't already, check out the following links: | | | | | | | V

  18. Those are great RR upload speeds, you probably won't get much better, but with the right tweaking you might be able to squeeze another 10--15 kbps. Just read up on cablenut, there are many posts in the archives, and play around.
  19. Check out the links in my sig and follow all the steps. It could be as simple as bypassing the router, connecting your PC directly to the modem. Often the router and modem can be out of sync. Also, make sure you are virus/spyware free, this is a big factor. And be sure to do a powercycle to refresh the connection when you connect directly.
  20. You can always try to run these scans in safe mode for best results. This way, fewer processes are running and Ad-aware may find and be able to remove more stuff.
