Word. Games (like movies) that are designed around the technology of the day are only novelties, and without the gameplay or storyline to back them up they fizzle out pretty quickly--as quickly as the next one of its type comes out. The games that last through the ages are the ones where you are so engrossed that you forget entirely about the graphics quality. I still pick up the NES the odd rainy day to play some Super Mario, Super Spike V-Ball, or Blades of Steel, or the SNES for some Chrono Trigger, or the n64 for some Zelda. Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft each have to ante up with the specs of their respective consoles as the bar is raised and the market advances, but since the playing field is pretty close to level, it boils down to gameplay for me. I like what Nintendo is doing with the whole retro/throwback thing; it's a really good marketing strategy because neither the Playstation nor the Xbox have the history to even think about joining in that competition. As far as whether or not Nintendo has grown with its gamers--myself being one of them--as long as they continue to put prettier faces on the same games, I'll be interested (maybe I'm a sucker??).

sounds similar to Denial of Service or Ping of Death...sending packets larger than 65,536 bytes.

Welcome to the forum Kilroy44! So there are other computers in the home on the same router that get test results of closer to 6 Mbps? Sound like maybe there is some software interfering on the one PC. Are you running any antivirus, firewall or Internet optimizer? If so you may want to disable them for the test. Also be sure to clear your browser out. Check out https://testmy.net/topic-4257 for some steps on doing that. Perhaps your tweaks aren't quite correct. Check out https://testmy.net/topic-1013 for other settings. -
First I've heard of it too: http://focus.ti.com/general/docs/bcg/bcgprodcontent.tsp?templateId=6116&navigationId=11893&path=templatedata/cm/product/data/turbodox http://www.ti.com/sc/docs/news/2001/01203.htm EDIT: clicking 'show all' under product specs, doesn't seem to be much difference except for the nifty TurboDOX feature on the 5120....seems maybe it is more flexible. I'd say go with the 5120.

I think there's a business package with 7/768, but that's the highest I've heard of (shrugs) -

Welcome to the forum, Hachi_Roku Be sure to check out https://testmy.net/topic-4257 for some good pointers -
Your router has likely blocked the TCP/IP traceroute command (funny it allows pings though). I think it is more in the program control than port blocking.

Toshiba PCX 2200-2600 are solid modems, also the PCX 5000 for wireless...Ambit makes solid modems, Thompson RCA DCM 425 is good.

After you specify an IP address in the TCP/IP properties of your local area connection, you should shut down your PC, disconnect power to the router, wait a moment, reconnect power to the router, and then bring up your PC. This way you can specify the IP and there won't be any miscommunication to the router regarding the IP addresses.

Here's some spec releases on each system: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox360/factsheet.htm http://www.ps3land.com/ps3specs.php http://www.nintendo.com/newsarticle?articleid=02ea1a40-ac09-4cdf-9548-91e5a4e78746&page=home

Considering all factors (games, online/multiplay, look, feel, price, etc.), what's your pick?

Wow, that's some rough stuff. Funny the way you present it, but rough nonetheless. The only thing I can think of is, if your restore point seems to be stable, update and run Norton AV, get some additional AV's (try AVG and avast!) and run them, and then talk to Norton about uninstalling their crap. At least that way somebody else will be liable if it goes bad. Take it easy and good luck.

when you type the url does it come up? make sure that you are typing the ip address correctly too (don't mean to be simple....in the subject of this thread it says 192.169 not 192.168...just to be sure!). otherwise, i dunno. refer to page 25 of the user guide i guess.
-
I see, 192.168.0.1 is the default gateway. I'm not sure tho, don't know much about dway. try typing in the ip address, 192.168.0.2, see what happens.
-
You got me there. type ipconfig in the command line and see if your IP is 192.168.0.1...maybe it has changed. If it is different, try typing it instead.

Cholla, I just downloaded, ran, and treated my win98 machine with Spybot S&D 1.4 (after I went to a couple of known spyware sites).
-
This is probably your IP address issued by your router. Are you typing this into your web browser? Does something else normally come up?

Careful there: your upload is 15 kB/s, which is 120 kbps. 1 B (byte) = 8 b (bits)
