The Modem stats are provisioning stats. VZ over provisions in an attempt to "offset" if you will some of the inherent losses. The two stats will not match. Your measured numbers are a tad low. Have you tried any different test sites or some of the Mirror sites here that may be closer and more accurate for your location ?

Sure, I have the same set up here. Unless you want double NAT for some strange reason. Just decide which ONE of the routers you want to handle the Routing/Nat, Local DHCP, ETC chores and disable the the same in the other. Hookup would be, Modem WAN output to the WAN port of the controlling router. Local switched LAN port of the controlling router to a LAN port of the disabled router. It's now just a switch and Wireless AP. Sure works great for me turning a $19.95 "Sunday Ad" special wireless router into the same thing as a $89 dedicated wireless AP. The remaining three switched ports are handy too HTH

I have dial up as a backup. I have a stand alone 56k modem connected to my Router through the Com port. When DSL goes down, About 1-2 hrs a year, I can fail over to dial up for the whole network. Slow, but it keeps the e-mail traffic up.

They do maintance on the weekend nights. Yes they have been "attacked" a number of times recently. Guess some people disagree with some of Justin's policies or what ever. No I'm not offended. Portforward.com does have the instructions for the 400 version of your 410. Since their in the same series I doubt that the setup for the 410 is radically different. I'll bet between those instructions and the Manual kindly supplied to you, you can figure it out. Be sure to know the local IP of the machine your trying to forward to when setting up the router. You'll figure it out. What's the worse that can happen ?... You reset the router, and try again.

You don't say what speed package you have. You posted test shows you to be on the money for the 1500/384 package. At the bottom where it says "48.58 % of your hosts average (verizon.net) " that's in comparison to the folks with 3000/768 like me.So don't be misguided. If you are on the 3000/768 then further exploration is required. Your geographic location can also make a huge difference on speed tests. Trying to speed test half way across the continent just doesn't work. This site is in Texas and if your on on one of the Coasts, forget any reliable results from it. They do offer some mirror test sites, try the ones closest to you.. As mentioned above the Wireless b/g world is the FCCs Part 15 unlicensed Wild West. All sorts of things operate there and inference is possible if not likely, and " must be accepted ". Wired networking is faster, more secure, and reliable. HTH

That's unusual. Normally Verizon (VZ) supplied the 2200 in the NE. Hmmm... There may be part of the problem. As VZ is having major routing/capacity problems in the NE states currently, with no repair date available. Try some speed tests here, http://nyc.speakeasy.net/ , here http://wdc.speakeasy.net/ Also try a couple of the testmy. net mirriors in the NYC area here, https://testmy.net/mirrors.php Try to run these tests as late in the evening as posibile. 1 AM to 6 AM local would be best to avoid the daytime and evening slowdowns in your area. The problem is that the on going problems with VZ is probibly masking what's realy happening with your connection. Post back the results of your best test. I wasn't quite shure what you meant about " LAN line" LAN, Local Area Network usally means what's on the local side of the modem/router. Those cables/connectors can go bad. Your speaking of the Telco Drop, Totaly different. Yes they too can go bad but not very offten. To replace that would require the Voice/telephone side of VZ to replace. Verizon DSL CSRs would be totaly clueless what you were talking about.

FULL and complete Make and Model PLEASE . Turn the modem over and on the bottom there will be a sticker with Model No. ETC. Where are you? City & State is close enough. No, we won't stalk you.. Do you use PPPoE or DHCP ? Are you using a router ? Have you tried replacing the "my actual LAN line is faulty? " They can become faulty/intermittent. Mactron

Welcome to the site. Your download looks about right. Your upload is a tad low. I'll assume your on the 3000/768 package. Your correct about the NYC area being congested. Verizon is aware of the problem, but has no ETA on repair. Try some speed test(s) closer to you, as network congestion can pretty significant impact on your results. 12 ms to the first hop is high !?? WoW ! maybe high expectations is more like it ! Lots of folks, especially gamers on , Cable or DSL would DIE for that first Hop. Different perspectives I guess.

I'm not sure if they still do it. Back a couple years ago the AOL, Earthlink types just resold the local Telco DSL. Most Telcos cap the Resellers DSL at lower rates than their own DSL. No way to increase speed due to contracts between the Telco and reseller(s). Not sure if they do that with resold Covad. The only way usually is to get the Telcos full speed DSL is to drop the reseller, (AOL in this case) and sign up with the local Telco. HTH
