  1. well thats always a concern , thats why i have there full insurance , just claim stupid if something goes wrong. lol But there are now safety features that will prevent this from happening called signing. The geeks that write the unlock tool, set it up so a rom that is not meant for that device , will not flash. Once you have unlocked the pre set security feature hat it ships with, then your all set. No worries of bricking , and many times when we think our device is bricked, there are things that can be done to repair it. It's really opened up anew world in mobile devices, the stock rom is extremely primal compared to most cooked roms. And many of the cooked roms , and features have gained the attention of the writers of the stock roms , therefore there sometimes implemented into stock roms now.
  2. I think he means to unplug the power cord. And like was already said , this is something that has plauged sleep / hibernation , for a while. if nothing works try logging in safe mode , then shut off sleep.
  3. Have you tried centos ? Swimmer turned me on to it a couple years ago. Nothing compares to it, if I were to say that it is the more professional or most serious linux os , i wouldnt be exaggerating. Check it out. That , or debian.
  4. Other them my eye's on a local server of mine with a monitor hooked to it sitting next to me , my modem log files, sorry , no link for justification if thats what your looking for And I haven't looked to see if anyone else has had this problem.
  5. team viewer workd great i agree, but i'll say this , there are many hack out there that have allowed those that want , to gain access to there servers and make there own connection to the machine with the client on it. I know this as factual because i've seen it with my own eye's. I have stopped using it, and went with real vnc. Although there paid version is ssl capable which i would think would do the job.
  6. Post what speeds you feel you should be getting and theses guy's will be able to help out a little more
  7. I've noticed as a rule , Linux runs smooth, more so then windows , and if configured properly , then almost always will do better on the net. My thoughts are that there's not all that "jazz" running in Linux os's for the most part ,as there is in windows. might not have anything to do with your original question , none the less, my thoughts .
  8. well depends on what you want to start messin with , there's a lot of people here , that are into a lot of different things/ tweaks , so put something out there, and away we go
  9. I cant leave anything alone. lol next is to change roms to check speeds here, ill post them , and the rom / rom version as i flash ..
  10. dunno if i would go that far. just to change something like that, i would seriously discourage allowing remote access to a router, even by the way through your system. since your problem has improved greatly by setting the static, i might leave it at that for now.
  11. http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page is there main page. I've been using DD-WRT for a while , although there's settings in there that are still beyond me, I might be able tp at the least point you in the rite direction depending on what your trying to do. Really , it can be configured for as much as you'll need in any network you have at home. Even more so by telnet into it's console .
  12. I'll forward this to the appropriate persons, generally it takes a set number of posts in order to create a new ISP board , my thoughts are it won't be long before this is started. So please, post your speed results from here, and whatever information you can, as you know it, just keep this thread going You'll want to post items such as the general location, what speeds they offer, and the cost, stuff like that . I have TWC , the former Adelphia , I noticed 12 months or so ago, there is a hub / whatever, around 1/2 mile from here, I looked into them, then, and if I remember correct, they offered satellite , nothing else. If they offered DSL, I would consider switching if the price was right.
  13. i'll find some way of looking at the gui in the router, nd let u know what i see, you can make a decision then.
  14. I see. Too bad mines nothing like that anymore Have you used any other rom's on there ? There's a lot out there, and they have much more features then the carrier rom's. I'll mess with it when i have time, but thanks
  15. Thanks for pointing that out.
  16. Have a good day RTB
  17. I'll direct this to the ones that matter here. But for now, I suppose you already used the 3 Mb test here >>>>>>> http://www.testmy.net/ul-2992
  18. when I checked, it said supported.............. lemmie go check again auuh crap ! Id'e say go ahead with tomatoe, but I would be lost, I'm sure there's someone else here that knows. Well either way, we'll work with what we have. So what else did you find in those tabs that look like yuo can change the setting to make sure bandwidth goes to the static IP you set, anything ?
  19. Duh me :/ What do you set that up as in the phone, Iv'e only used mine as blue tooth, never tethered. We have almost the same device, mines flashed with the latest mighty rom, and all the SPB cabs, but the connections should still go the same. If you have time to fill me in.
  20. Would you be willing to flash DD-wrt ? It is supported,http://dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv3/dd-wrt/hardware.html and it's a great alternative to geting deeper into the config if your not real familiar with telnet.
  21. haha, ok , anyhow The firmware is a bit different then I'm used to, but look in the drop down there where it says "applications" what choices do you have ? Either way, you'll want to make the static IP that you set for that machine, have full priority. Right now, it looks like there's a range of ports that are forwarded, where ? I dunno. Let me ask you this, are you familiar with telnet ? Or hyperterminal ? If so I might be able to write a config for it, that you can upload into the router. It can be done this way only by telnetting into it.
  22. First I don't think you did anything to your static when you set packet scheduling, I did that myself, and never really got much result from it, but hey, some people have The wireless stuff there doesn't make a difference, at least what you showed in the screenshot, as far as the static IP. Geeze, it's been so long that i have used DD-wrt, I can't remember where the heck QOS is in the standard gui, look around, you'll see it, it might be in the administration tab, in a drop down, or in there applications and gaming, or even in there access restrictions tab somewhere, sorry not much help there, but it's in there, and once you find it, snatch another screeenie, and we'll get it. oh shoot, hang on, I'll plug up to one sitting here I have for sale on ebay ................
  23. I don't know about what you did :/ But you can log into your router, and look for "QOS settings" or something like that depending on the firmware you have . Can you post a couple screenshots from the web gui on the router ? Then i will be able to show you what i would do.
  24. Interesting. Iv'e never gotten into tomato, Cool. Usually all I do it set the static, forward what ports I need, and set the bandwidth allocation per internal IP. Maybe a couple other things, but not that much.
