I think you must take in consideration the time, it very well may be the heavy traffic on the back bone, people around the world surfing at that time , plus the storm in the middle of the country (USA) must have more than one line down, causing traffic to be re routed.

I have to say, sh**, that was a bugger, I still learned a bit, editing .inf, was the most important, hell ,I called a guy I usually call ,(GEEK) big time, he was,nt familiar w/ these things, he said next time he gets one in, hes gonna pass it over here . Actually , pretty good machine, it screams for a 1.0 Ghz, w/ now, 160 Mb,s ram (sd at that) Not to mention the other machines I haven't touched

Just wanted to finish this thread out The sound device in the laptop is Via 686 / ci 4299 Vinyl Ac' 97 Combo driver (WDM) It's always a relief to get it right (a day late or not I used Everest to find it more $$$ oh well .

Well I took a look at your case (cool BTW) and there is a lot on the front panel. The user manual (PDF) would not load for me. If it were me , I would want to know about that battery. Actually I still do

When I get sick of it, I save all my saves , (games) , and files. Do a DOD on the Hdd, and start from scratch , usually my registry is what gets mucked up .(old sh** hangin around) un-installs, driver updates, and just plain BS. Just my way of taking care of it

Stumped again, ik *annoying . I ended up just editing the file outright, everything went fine. Still ,no sound, all shows good. Even when you place a CD in the drive, WMP comes up, and plays, shows the song titles, and that silly video sh**. But no sound

I found the .inf by searching w/ *inf , located the control flags section, copied the file to notepad, placed " ; " in front of { Exclude from select= * } The option to save as .inf is not there. saved as .txt when I update drivers, the folder is ther but no file I saved as "all files" , when I try to update drivers, same thing no file shown to install
