  1. Well it's 12 noon somewhere on the planet lol
  2. If it makes you feel any better , on this 50 Mb connection I max out around 12-13 Mb when testing. Drives me crazy ! Several machines windows mac , and linux all about the same thing , although chrome gives a closer upload , same download. Wiped the drive started over , same thing , new drive , same thing , spent a month with ISP tech , got things at the node straightened out and found a massive botnet that had done some sort of DNS hacking on the ISP's internal network hahaha , so for the most part I'm downloading fine here , but the tests show the same thing as they have. Feel better ? didnt think so lol
  3. Holy moly , one could only wish in 2011 we all had speeds to our local machines like that. I'm sure ca3le will have an explanation
  4. First thing i noticed when logging in today ! NICE ! I Love it when you get in that mode
  5. I suppose my point was there is always heat , and as you know , the closer you can keep the internal temps to the ambient DC temps the better. Some people just cram the cables in as they build and shovem over if even that, which creates disturbances in the flow of air as designed by the case / structure. off topic , should be interesting to see what can be done with these old HP DL380 6x1TB scsi Seagates, SGI RS-0800-LVD 8x1TB Seagates and unraid, I need the VHDCI cable and a few more drives and I'm golden.
  6. Yea it is nice and clean, plenty of room for heat removal.
  7. I was able to get Lion installed on a VM locally , no issues whatsoever . So many of the issues people are speaking of are simple things that apple made as default, and can be changed easily. I'll make another ISO and burn it slower ( and I never verify ) just don't have the patience nor do i care, it either works or it doesn't. Until you mentioned it , I had assumed it might be that I don't use any GUI to convert, I simply run hdiutil convert thefile.dmg -format UDTO -o thefile.iso [/code] to convert DMG to ISO , I'll select the slow burn next time. Any input on the macbook pro crash issues ? Again , might be user error , but how can it be. Think I'll see about getting a new image burnt and chucking it on a separate drive for now. Thanks for the advice
  8. Yes well thats just the thing , it was a training period, now were on the same page lol Sure , tried installing several times that way, it always fails 40 minutes later complaining about not being able to download items for the install. I was not aware the USB stick ( if you can call it that ) , was for emergency repairs, and what recovery partition are you speaking about ? I take it Lion has implemented something from microsoft now ?
  9. Well yes , unfortunately support for PPC is about crapped out. Although I have an iBook G4 that runs Linux PPC ( as the graphics quirk gets the kernel all panic like while running osx ) , works great in target mode or as a file server. Also , the eaten up ram after long term use is been my only complaint ever running an apple machine. But then again , it's not a server that needs to stay up w/o a reboot here and again either. Anyhow , I was going to get the USB stick to do a clean install until i read on apple site that the damn thing isnt even the OS , it's a key to download the OS , and snow leopard is a prerequisite to lion. wtf apple ? Geezus , no wonder Steve left !
  10. Man thats a tough situation, these guy's know your pinned down to one means of connection. If it were myself , I would not sign any contracts . I do everything i can to avoid any contracts with anyone i don't have to. SOme times it's unavoidable. I'm sure there'll be users from both companies that'll give you hints though.
  11. Ah yea , I should post the site for blag http://www.blagblagblag.org/ I found them on http://www.fsf.org/ some time ago.
  12. Not having used Knoppix extensively , more as you suggest , compiz is now integrated into the default setup isnt it ? I did not look last time i had the disk in , just noticed so many of the same features were implemented as when I last used ubuntu and messed around with it all. Puppy linux is great as well , but BLAG is my favorite .
  13. If what you say is true , that rossetta has been removed , then a quick search will reveal there were quite a few that still used PPC apps. Yet it also means I'm safe , I'm just interested in progs such as transmit , coda , PS5 , navicat , paralells ect ,nothing out of the ordinary or too old. What is all this about slowing the machine down significantly ?
  14. So is Lion gotten any better with the release of 10.7.1 ? Or is it still borking the brains out of everyone ? Iv'e read MS Office does not run on it, as well as Photoshop and about a thousand other apps, was this user error as usual or are all my apps useless if I update to lion ?
  15. At times it feels like black death , but then again , makes me drive harder to learn what I want to learn to force something to do what I need it to do. Appalling , to serve port from the right , how dare she. tsk tsk
  16. Welcome to testmy.net SlowAsMolassas , would you run a few speedtests , posting in this thread and giving a few details such as the expected down load and upload speeds ? I'm sure if you read around the forums you'll find many things that might help you with your situation, and others alike in the same.
  17. DOH ! You have to admit , you didnt' even open the door on that one , just walked right in to it hahaha Elliot you lost me man, maybe it's a sign of not listening to much rap ( if thats what it is ? )
  18. Sounds promising . You've introduced me to a new OS as well, already d/l , but will have to wait till late next week , i have other issues to deal with. I take it this OS is ready to accept scsi jbod as well ?
  19. Hey mrhan , knoppix has come a long way ! I grabbed up a copy just last week, I was pleasantly surprised to say the least, especially with a live cd .
  20. Kinky * bownt chka bow bow chka bownt * lmao
  21. Yes tommie , good thing you left out southern california lol
  22. Hey no worries , I still do not know where the hell it was lol And after installing the repo I needed to get soap installed, I made the mistake of running yum update Screwed several things all to hell. Now sql is been uninstalled , but many dependancies are still ghosting , so it cannot be installed again , not even a newer version , as it keep complaining about old turds laying around Looks like a long weekend will be wasted on fun stuff dammit lol Just gonna upgrade / update the entire server.
  23. Hahaha , yes , just for you sweetheart lmao
  24. Yea , it lasted a whole 20 minutes ? lol If I had taken 5 more minutes looking through the rpm commands in front of me, the thread would not be in existence, maybe it'll help someone sometime.
  25. I was able to fix this by rpm -e *package name* And then reinstalled the repo(s) properly
