  1. Hey , keep those things if you have the room to. Just because it's not used abroad anymore , does not mean you can't utilize them for a project. Drivers for them are readily available so long as you aren't running any OS that came out in the last generation of pretty OS's.
  2. Name one Apple laptop that came with a CD / DVD tray Vs. the slim.
  3. They look like old compaq or IBM cards. Possibly even SUN.
  4. Well I have appointment with them tomorrow to pull wire in the house and hopefully get me online with it. I still have to laugh though , they offer 50/ 3 as there highest tier , makes no sense. Id'e rather have such as yours 25/25. Hell for that matter 15/15 or 10/10 . Cheapskates.
  5. Looking for anyone that is or has used the Arris TM722G modem that may have some input. As I'm about to start using one through the ISP and I'm curious what I'm getting into. thanks
  6. I don't think your wrong ca3le , but as you say , there's so much BS out there , mostly from the mouths of the ISP , then the end user starts blabbing as if they know about these things , and on it goes , one post to another and soon it becomes a false truth. The ISP's are full up of tripe when they claim they can't guarantee your speeds past there servers. They simply skimp on the bandwidth to spread out over more oversold nodes. Not only that , so I have heard they sell blocks of bandwidth to certain companies for specified amounts of time, so they need the overhead. You make a great point when you say you pay for an internet connection , not a local connection.
  7. I know , he's like that, sneaks in features that we don't know we need yet , then when we do he's there to point them out . Wild
  8. Yea , i need a new modem as well. So much so that I have my service cancelled on the 29th , hoping to get 50/3 connection
  9. Hahahaa....... Uhhmm.......... hmm NICE !!!!!
  10. Rockin upload :!:
  11. IMO there still needs to be solid flow control if your doing something like that. Looking at traffic shaper here, I noticed a few things thought Id'e mention, one is the adjustment the ACK and to your linespeed ? ( it may be sending out ACK received packets when none is present ) , as if you are downloading the same time your uploading , the quanacks que is using more then 60% of your available bandwidth and the ACK packets a re not making it to the que. Might be a longshot , but got me thinking anyhow.
  12. What I meant by the netbios comment was a suggestion to kill it, I was assuming you were running them statically and taking test simultaneously to locate the anomaly in a QOS situation. Glad you have it straightened out.
  13. I use the majick mouse combined with magicprefs , ca3le if your liking the pad , you can extent it's capabilities by 100 X with majickprefs, gestures to do anything you wish , and more.
  14. You could set up an old box with pfsense firewall , and utilize one of the many ways to drop connections after a given amount of time.
  15. Personally i like the idea. Lets see what ca3le has to say about coding it in. Although each machine has it's own ID , your suggestion is viable imo.
  16. Unless you have a dedicated line " T1-T3" ect , I do not see the relevance in testing two machines on the same lan simultaneously with the express test and getting your expected results. In your situation , unless I'm not understanding you , I would test that way with the specific size test, and make sure your not using a VPN or remotely controlling the second machine , as it will throw off the test within you lan, not externally. Also looking at netbios if your running a windows machine doing what your doing will throw internal results, not external.
  17. hahaha , sweet , the subject brings out the thoughts that stay hidden doesn't it ? As for cost, having an Apple machine has paid for itself tenfold to say the least. The machine I'm typing on is the same one Iv'e had for at least two years and it still runs as it did the day I opened the box. Since i don't expect my machine to be a firewall ( I stay behind a real firewall ie: pfsense ) I havent had anyone get in ( to my knowledge , or the logs knowledge ) , so far not a virus one , malware , spyware, none of it. I control several remote servers daily, in one day I'll do at the least 2 up to 5 or six remote sessions repairing windows machines, maybe do a graphic or two with Photoshop, edit a script or two with coda, all day internet radio is on, bouncing from site to site admining ecommerce sites, ordering supplies various places, making voip calls, and so on. All day every day , same machine. I could not do that with one machine running windows when i did , it took two. Even with corporate hardware. Say what you will about the price of a mac , but if you depend on your machine daily to just work and do what you need it to do at the drop of a key, it's mac. When I was a general contractor I learned that buying the cheapest service or tool was rarely the best solution to just get the job done , life experience I suppose.
  18. Bah , you have the capabilities man. You'd really have to be very new to brick one.
  19. Apple users try and tell people the major differences and how it can change so much for you , until you use one regular as you have , you just don't get it. Awesome new machine you got there, now you just grab a pair of USB/DVI controllers and utilize three screens.
  20. I'm interested in hearing what others have to say about this as well.
  21. In that case , i would surmise 365 could be justified , in a manner of speaking lol thx for the correction lol
  22. Slick Idea , instantly determine the best speed test for your connection , love it.
  23. Holy shitballz batman !!!!!!!
  24. You know , I dare to be there are thousands , and I mean literally thousands of links and discussions concerning "VanBuren cablenut settings" out there. Poeple even ask " where are those VanBuren cablenut settings , I needed to redo my machine and .... " People say " 7 " self adjusts, since I personally only use it so I can work on others when needed , I can't vouch , but I have to say , if there were a few tweaks to be had , they'd get eaten up by many.
  25. Hi BobH , I'm sure ca3le will deal with the fix asap as well as reply to you.
