  5. hi i am an old smartbro user but new in this community,, i would like to ask you guyz if you got any idea on how can i make my internet speed more faster? i already try many guides in here but i think it didn't work even just one. i also tried accessing my canopy but i am not able to do so.. i think my canopy is blocked? is there any other way to access my canopy except this step setting (setting ip address to 169.254.3.3 and subNet to 255.255.0.0) for me to be able to access my canopy? if i really need some updates on it.. during this time (1:00AM - 10:00AM) philippine time that only the time i get the best on my internet speed... after 10:00AM my speed will eventually slows down to much its like slowing down up to 110Kbps but out are was already upgraded up to 512 or 1MB if im not mistaken just their agent told me... actually this is already my second account.. the same problem i got from the old one also the in this new account... can any help me??? thnx if someone will do..
  6. I just learned late last night through a phone call I made through the SmartBro hotline that they are indeed increasing their speed, not just up to 512 kbps, but to 1.8 Mbps! Great isn't it?! Some of us may be experiencing intermittent connections right now, but these are all due to network enhancement. Though they are still in the testing stage.. Hoping for the best! Comments, anyone?
  7. dudes... need help on my utorrent setup. i cant seem to open my port and im downloading files not more 1KByte of data. anybody know how to this up? im using smartbro ISP.... thanks in advance for the help guys...

  11. Ok Guys, before jumping into the whole update process.. and if you want the CNUT to work, read all this stuff and follow it carefully... Remember the following: You must be running one of this Windows Platforms Windows 2000 Windows Server 2003 Windows XP or RedHat Linux RedHat Enterprise Linux v4 with a minimum of 512MB of RAM The computer will need network access to connect to the devices being upgraded. (This translate to, that we must set our TCP/IP properties to 169.254.3.3 and 255.255.0.0, or if you are accessing via mac, please do the way as how it is done via mac, I personally don't use mac to access my canopy so don't bother asking me how, hehehe and before I forgot you must be logged in as root in your canopy setup page. Just log in in your canopy set-up page and use root as the username, password is left blank) Assuming that the proper version of CNUT is installed and your desired update package/s is already saved in your PC, we may now proceed with the steps in updating your canopy. First Open your CNUT (Canopy Network Updater Tool), then highlight Network Root, then click Add Network Element. Second After clicking Add Network Element, a window appears, from the Element Type dropdown box select Subscriber Module (SM), then in the Element Host Name(s)/IP Address(s) , type your canopy's ip address 169.254.1.1 (again, if your's is set to 192.168.1.1 like jovantot's, then please do so or whatever ip your canopy might have, but the default is 169.254.1.1). then click OK. Third make sure you select your SM by putting a check next to it, then click View, then click Refresh/Discover Selected Network Elements, If this is successful (connection to your SM, again you must be logged in as root and set your tcp/ip properties to 169.254.3.3 and 255.255.0.0 if you use MAC addressing method, don't bother asking me how to do it, as I am no fond in using MAC) you should see an info next to your SM like the picture below. If CNUT can't access or communicate with your SM properly you may be having problems following my steps. Read again, this time slowly without the excitement. BTW,In the above picture my Software Version is already 8.2.2 (I already updated my Canopy from 8.1.5 to 8.2.2 SM-DES, before I post this guide that is why I am 100% this steps here will work!), what I am doing here is just a guide. So I don't want anyone questioning why am I adding the package 8.2.2 SM-DES in the next step. Fourth With your SM still checked, click Update, then click Manage Packages. Then after that, a Package Manager window will appear, click Add , then select the package file you saved earlier in your PC, in my example I have the latest 8.2.2 SM-DES package added (If you are Using the New CNUT it will ask for the *.pkg2 file, if using the Old CNUT it will ask fot the *.pkg file), after successful selection (see picture below) you can now Close the Update Manager Window. Fifth with your SM still checked, click Update, then click Update Selected Network Elements, from this point onwards.. the rest is up to you.. and please be patient to wait for the update process to complete.. It is just normal for the CNUT to reboot your SM don't worry about that. WARNING: Don't blame me if you made your SM unusable. (this is provided as it is, and does not guarantee that your SM will not encounter a problem along the update process, things happen guys, **** it!) ANOTHER REMINDER: For the last time, set your TCP/IP properties to 169.254.3.3 and 255.255.0.0 or else the CNUT won't be able to access your Canopy via 169.254.1.1 Don't worry about the update time we are only updating ONE canopy and that is your's, this will only take a few minutes depending on your machine mine is a P4 2.4 GHz, 512 MB DDR 333 RAM, GE PRO-M2 MoBo..yes I know and I don't want any criticism. My PC is slow by today's standard but it was in the category "fastest" five or four years ago. Make sure your PC meet the specified requirement, and if it does not and still want to push the update process. Then do so, don't tell me that I didn't warn you! If you are not verse in the technical aspects of this steps then please ask someone who knows what I am talking about here to assist you in the update. ==================================================== OT: Does anyone here knows the IP of our AP?, I tried 10.0.0.1 but this is inaccessible.. Does anybody have the CNUT (the older version the one that needs a *.pkg file)? Lastly does anyone here have the package file for 8.0 SM-DES Software Version, I need to downgrade my Canopy Software Version..(It's much easier to configure NAT in version 8.0, mine is locked up so that is why I need it (I am only needing it, if Jovantot's suggestion to me would not work .) PM me people, I'm expecting replies.. edit...spelling in title edit...title
  12. Is there a way for us smartbro users to open up a port? Better question: How do I access the smartbro router (the one they're using to give us the 192.168.xxx.xxx ip which results in some of us having the same external ip address, frustrating for a downloader) in order to open the port myself?
  13. I need help or any suggestions. This smartbro is really getting on my nerves for almost a year now from a fluctuating connection very very unstable and now a new problem came up. Guess what they capped my speed to 30 Kbps (downloading a file). Ive tried lots of tweaks from posts here even coolbuster's 20 steps. Nothing.. To start off before i can download at a rate of 40 Kbps which is not that bad or maximum speed for my plan 999. I know 40 Kbps is not that fast and now they capped me lower 30 Kbps i always observe my download speed specially on non peak hours 12 midnight and up so theres now way its due to congestion no matter what happens it always play around 25-30Kbps with some few bursts to 33 then back to 30. Man i know uncapping is illegal but capping a subscribers speed lower than the advertised max speed is legal WTF??? And to add to my frustration i have a neighbor whos connection to smartbro reaches 2.5-3 Mbps (jealous!!) downloads at 200-300 Kbps..this is a no joke i wont tell our location incase some smartbro employee is reading here. i dunno if this is eating our bandwidth but my capped connection had been there before he had those freaky speeds.
  14. On the afternoon of August 8th, i noticed that my browsing is very slow. i tested the speed at tm.n and it gave me an awful 67kbps on DL. i already knew that the base station nearest me is down and in trouble. but, i still called smartbro customer care to inquire the status of the base station. i dialled *1888 on my smart cellphone, pressed 1 for smartbro, pressed 4 for "technical concerns". i already knew they will never answer but i kept on waiting. after 5 minutes of waiting in oblivion, i dropped the call. i thought of something. i dialled *1888 again, pressed 1 for smartbro, but this time i pressed 1 for "new applications" and presto! in 20 seconds somebody answered my call. i pursued on my query. i told the operator that since nobody's answering on the number for technical concerns i am placing my inquiry on her. she checked my connection and gave me the usual answer: that the base station is having a technical problem and it was temporary and blah blah blah blah. she noticed that i was laughing in the background so she asked if that was all, i said "yes, nothing more, thank you". basically, theirs is bad business. if somebody calls for complaints its gonna take a decade before they answer or not at all. when someone calls to apply they answer in speed of a bullet. do you have an exp with smartbro customer care? post it here!
  15. smartbro sucks!!... i'm a subscriber of smartbro for almost a year now and all they gave was a crappy slower than dial-up connection...i've called their customer service agents and always said the same thing since the first day i called them...good thing globe broadband is now availale in our area and im thinking of signing up to their service.. any globe users in bay laguna there wanna help me out?...is their service good in that area?...tnx...
  16. :cheesy:goodness me! :cheesy: got this result just now, did nothing much really....  was bored so i went to my canopy page and then made notes on values and after i exited the page, i tested my speed... viola!! :2funny: Hope it stays this way.. wohoooo!! to me.. :2funny: Thanks to all!

  18. Hi guys! My friend is a smartbro user and is connected to her laptop(windows) and she got her son a pc, she doesn't know how to share the smartbro to the pc, so I told her to buy a router, I think that she's gonna buy a router tomorrow, and sadly she asked me how to do that.. I know some about (minor) computer repairs, but in this situation, I Know Nothing... So I just wanted to ask how to connect a laptop and a pc using a router to share the smartbro connection. From beginning to end.. I will be a fast learner I promise! And if anyone can recommend any router that's not so fancy but effiecient enough, I will really appreciate it! Thanks a lot! By the way, newbie here! Glad to Be Here! hope I'm welcome here!
