FallowEarth Posted March 27, 2006 CID Share Posted March 27, 2006 1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms dslrouter [192.168.1.1] 2 200 ms 260 ms 198 ms 10.32.72.1 I could be wrong, but it looks to me like there is latency between your router and your modem (modems usually have an IP address in the format of 10.x.x.x). Have you tried connecting your PC directly to your modem and running a traceroute and download speedtest? Also, what are your advertised speeds? FallowEarth Posted March 27, 2006 CID Share Posted March 27, 2006 Since it may be a software conflict on your PC, try the alternate speedtest as laid out here: http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=12193.

dn0 Posted March 28, 2006 CID Share Posted March 28, 2006 I'm with FallowEarth-Big jump in latency. Bad modem? Bad NIC card? Bad CAT5 cable? Bad line? Try pinging TestMy.net and post the results back here. Or you can run php's little bach file from here. Run the executable and it will do some ping test for you, post results back here. php Posted March 28, 2006 CID Share Posted March 28, 2006 Looks like a bad cable to me... maybe a bad NIC, but that 200ms local hop is bad... (it's on the other side of your router)
alan8187 Posted March 28, 2006 Author CID Share Posted March 28, 2006 I don't think its my modem nor nic is bad, thing is its not always that slow. I think there is too much people in my area that is using the same dsl provider. Especially on sundays, the connection is like unusable whatsoever, too slow, 5-10 minutes to load a webpage like www.ebay.com

CamaroZ Posted March 31, 2006 CID Share Posted March 31, 2006 Theres latency between your computer and modem. Try swapping your NIC and get a new Cat5e cable as suggested. Also make sure you have the correct drivers...
