saygoodie Posted August 7, 2008 CID Share Posted August 7, 2008 I recently bought 2GB (1GB x2) DDR2 PC2 4200 RAM from crucial.com (therefore I believe it's supposed to be compatible with my motherboard) I put one stick of RAM in and it read as 512MB. I put two in and it read as 1GB. Crucial told me to update the BIOS so I did, but with no change. :[ Help? The ram could be bad, it could also be labeled wrong. Does it say 1GB on the label of the ram? And have you called them back after you updated the bios? They claim that it is my PC but I don't see how it would only read 512MB. vern Posted August 7, 2008 CID Share Posted August 7, 2008 Silly question, but you do have the memory installed in the proper slots? That mobo has 4 slots; 2 for DDR 400 and 2 for DDR 2 533. And if they are in the proper slots does the BIOS see it as DDR 2 RAM? I know what you mean, but when he installed one stick he said it only showed 512MB instead of 1GB. I'd really be disappointed with Crucial if they did not accept that as a possibility and allow him to swap it for another kit.
