wyantm06 Posted October 23, 2008 CID Share Posted October 23, 2008 Ok, I have my AVG set to auto update every morning. Everytime I get on the computer in the morning there is an error, and I have to go in and manually download it. What is going on? How do I fix this? Thanks. I forgot to add, if it helps, I leave my computer on 24/7 (laptop)
Sequoia Posted October 23, 2008 CID Share Posted October 23, 2008 It's probably a firewall problem. You need to allow AVG through your firewall. It will be something like AVG.exe . I always use manual but when I did use the autoupdate on my older OS the firewall on it needed to give AVG update permission.
wyantm06 Posted October 24, 2008 Author CID Share Posted October 24, 2008 Thanks, I tried the firewall thing before and it was unsuccessful. Somedays it auto updates, sometimes it doesn't..Only thing I can think of is maybe my internet is timing out?

The newer AVG has had update issues from the beginning, only thing i could do is uninstall it, and then re-install the newest version, again. I've done that a couple times now on two computers, one XP the other Vista. It didn't make a difference.

coknuck Posted November 12, 2008 CID Share Posted November 12, 2008 Its suppose to be the best of the free ones. The only reason I don't use it is because it doesn't have an email scanner.
