dlewis23 Posted July 7, 2010 CID Share Posted July 7, 2010 I found WipeDrive so far. If anyone knows anymore good ones fill me in. Use the one built into Windows, or open a command prompt and use FDISK.
mudmanc4 Posted July 9, 2010 CID Share Posted July 9, 2010 I agree w/ you d , I was never a fan of installing more software to perform a task that the OS was capable of.
wyantm06 Posted July 14, 2010 Author CID Share Posted July 14, 2010 I agree w/ you d , I was never a fan of installing more software to perform a task that the OS was capable of. You see though...I tried...I actually let command prompt do it, it took almost 18 hours for it to just tell me FAILED! Lol, but if anyone is interested I found a software from HP that'll do a whole 500GB external in less than a hour! It does FAT32 as well and is very basic and user friendly. Here are a couple links, one explains it and one is a download. http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=197 <<< Explanation of the software...and here is the download http://en.kioskea.net/download/download-127-hp-usb-disk-storage-format-tool

wyantm06 Posted July 14, 2010 Author CID Share Posted July 14, 2010 LOL, you spent 18 hours doing something that should take 30 seconds? What command did you use? I used format (Drive letter): /FS:FAT32 and both times I did it it went for 18 hours just to tell me the HDD was to large to be formatted in FAT32. The HP software did it in less than a hour. vasquezkelley Posted August 23, 2010 CID Share Posted August 23, 2010 Of course WipeDrive!. It is the best software to format external hard drive. It is very fast and secure. There is no chance to damage your hard drive. Also, it is easy to use. It contains many other features so there is no problem with that. Roco Posted August 23, 2010 CID Share Posted August 23, 2010 resurrected topic ? but as far as I can remember ( and that ain't far these days ) Fat 32 don't support dives bigger than around 130- G.B , with out lot of hassle . but my memory goes back to the days of 512Kb being very big drives , a cut down win 95 could be around 180Kb , , and 100Mb ram was a luxury , Hey , I must have been a rich kid I had a vid card with 16Mb of memory , nah I wasn't rich , I sold my granma in a slave auction to pay for it , now I am thinking of selling the wife for a quad core the same way ,
zalternate Posted August 23, 2010 CID Share Posted August 23, 2010 (edited) Google shows "vasquezkelley" as a bot. Typical pattern of registering and posting pattern of 3 posts, on a bunch of forums over this past 24 hours and then disappears. The mods can tell by IP if it's an India live person or a algorithm.
