RiverWar Posted May 25, 2005 CID Share Posted May 25, 2005 not sure when it happened, but for about the last three weeks almost every time i check my speeds here, they are slow, and not just a little slow, but seriously slow, running at about 80% of my speeds. in the past, testmy net always scored my speeds around the 90% or higher of my advertised. after testing here and getting slow speeds, i can go to two or three other test sites, and my scores are where they have always been in the past, high. something changed here at testmy net that i didn't read about? thanxz River
Bones_McGhee Posted May 25, 2005 CID Share Posted May 25, 2005 My speeds have always been consistent here at testmy.net. Actually, especially in the near past.

just- Posted May 25, 2005 CID Share Posted May 25, 2005 RiverWar im sorry to hear about that are you testing some the main server or from associate server (mirrors)? testmy net has 2 brand new shynny dual xeons and is faster then ever you should really not be getting slower speed thens before
netmasta Posted May 25, 2005 CID Share Posted May 25, 2005 Try doing a tracert to the site there may be a slowdown someware along the line. To do a tracert go to Start>>Run. Type in cmd, or (command in win 9x). A screen with c:Documents and settings%user name% should show up. there type "tracert testmy.net" without the "s. To copy that info into a post, RIGHT-click, than select mart and highlight the text and press enter. Then press Ctrl-v to paste it into a message. Guest wmmc Posted May 25, 2005 CID Share Posted May 25, 2005 Scan for viruses, trojans, spyware, these will slow a connection down.
netmasta Posted May 25, 2005 CID Share Posted May 25, 2005 It looks like you're on Comcast. I'm on Comcast and have had no speed test problems, but over the last few weeks some sites have been loading slow for me too. It seems to have started with the last Sober worm outbreak. maybe some of the servers are extra busy.
CA3LE Posted May 25, 2005 CID Share Posted May 25, 2005 If you are getting normal speeds elsewhere it is most likely your route to my servers, it's not on my server end though... I still have many accurate tests logged at over 15 Mbps... look at HaloBox >> https://testmy.net/s_engine.php?type=user_name&q=HaloBox My personal route has done that in the past too, hell lately I can't get over 4.5 Mbps... and I have a 5Mbps line. Just have to wait till your route gets better to testmy.net ;-/

RiverWar Posted May 25, 2005 Author CID Share Posted May 25, 2005 so my tracert looks ok then? i didn't see anything really out of line with it. and here school is still going, another two and a half weeks yet before i have that slow down to take place. prior to this "problem" my speeds were around 4mb down, 382 up with a 4000/384 connection, and usually always way above advertised, and always with the "red hot" symbol at the end of the test speed line, but not any more, and most of the time it has the "red warning" letters, that i am only getting about 80%. tests at dslreports, toast, speakeasy, uc santa cruz all show me getting those older higher speeds, but then i come here and wham, i take a big hit, every time almost. i say almost, because one out of 10 tests will show a good speed here, not as high as in the past, but almost. i run all the anti programs; spybot, adaware, spyblaster, even ms antispyware(giant), and sygate, and avg. update them all the time, run them all the time, normal and in safe mode. i know 100% that i am "clean". just too weird
CA3LE Posted May 26, 2005 CID Share Posted May 26, 2005 Well you can have good pings and a bad route Link Quality and Link Speed play roles also. It does appear that your link is okay... here, try this mirror >> https://testmy.net/d_load.php?ni=1&st=st&tt=1&ta=1&top=mirror-xyther&out_src=7MB
RiverWar Posted May 26, 2005 Author CID Share Posted May 26, 2005 CA3LE, last night i tried the test link and scored about the same, shut the computer off and crashed to the couch, slept on it, and this morning i got up and first thing i did was retest, same low scores. KingCobra Posted May 26, 2005 CID Share Posted May 26, 2005 look at HaloBox >> https://testmy.net/s_engine.php?type=user_name&q=HaloBox You'll notice in my stats that my connection was jacked up May 6-7.
