Guest Hyperspace Posted July 13, 2005 CID Share Posted July 13, 2005 well, here's the basics... Faster Safer Easier NON-M$ Better Faster...It was not faster for me. Safer...just because hackers mostly concentrate on IE. Non-M$...I agree. Easier...I don't have any trouble using IE...do you? (As a Computer Information System Major, It seems simple to me). Better...Not in my opinion...just different.

php Posted July 13, 2005 CID Share Posted July 13, 2005 I understand man...I'm glad FF helps you. ___ php, Does your "regular" Windows account not have administrator privileges? If not, you can make it so. Of course it has administrator privileges... there's just a setting somewhere in my account that isn't letting me use Windows Update properly... and its not just my account either... I have yet to get a XP computer to connect to the Windows Update site properly on my connection without using the Administrator account.
Guest Hyperspace Posted July 14, 2005 CID Share Posted July 14, 2005 Of course it has administrator privileges... there's just a setting somewhere in my account that isn't letting me use Windows Update properly... and its not just my account either... I have yet to get a XP computer to connect to the Windows Update site properly on my connection without using the Administrator account. I've had both Windows XP home and Pro (I've installed Pro over 20 times for friends)...never had that problem. Maybe you should disable your administrator account and then try to connect to Windows Update. If it doesn't work you can always re-enable the administrator account. php Posted July 14, 2005 CID Share Posted July 14, 2005 It has worked on a fresh install, but after a few months it doesn't work as I said before... I have yet to get XP to update without using the administrator account... the only exception has been that a fresh install worked once... but all the other fresh installs I've used don't... Also... did you ever try to update using DirecWay? I believe that is my problem...

CA3LE Posted July 31, 2005 Author CID Share Posted July 31, 2005 Umm, Ca3le I just noticed something. Look at the message I quoted, and then the pic. haha, yeah.. originally I was going to do that, but found out that SMF's permissions don't allow it (at least I couldn't figure out how to make it happen so I figured the permissions couldn't be set) -- anyway, I will fix that wording there.. haha
fred Posted August 2, 2005 CID Share Posted August 2, 2005 Hey Boss the only problem that I have noticed is with some of the mirror sites. my down's are a little off from our home server in other words they are not consistant. maybe it is supposed to be that way because of traffic or distance any way I would not be testing here if they were not accurate and consistant :D Fred
