  1. What I can say about several other sites testing servers, some of them are located on the top tier 'channel' of the ISP's network, where little to no real world traffic moves through. Top that with their default settings utilizing port 8080, which again, is not the default HTTP port, so very little to no traffic moves over those lines. Giving test results in this manner, in my opinion, is good for internal network throughput only. Not necessarily real world is it. As websites and CDN's are scattered all around the planet, not necessarily on the big pipe with little usage. Which of course by logic will give a more consistent reading, considering.

  2. TWC is famous for overloading their nodes. I'll bet your speed loss is in peak times 7pm to 12 midnight. Caused by overloaded nodes with people streaming netflix's and other stuff like that. Like Pgoodwin1 said keep chipping at them and keep asking for you $20 discount like I did. They got tired of giving me discounts and finally moved me to another node, now all is good until they overload this one. Then back to the discounts until they move me again or put in a new node. Just my 2 cents.

  3. I got your link and am using it now. Thanks very much for your quick and helpful reply. I use OS X and was looking for a native app, the only one I could find was called 'Network Logger Pro'. Unfortunately I had to return it for a refund because I just couldn't get on with the interface, it wasn't designed well at all. Your website is most useful and well laid out, keep up the good work. I'm curious how you make money, do you sell the data back to ISPs? I'm okay with this I'm just wondering out loud.
