  1. call tech support. i'm sure they can fix it.
  2. i haven't seen a single laptop that has that one feature i would be willing to pay extra for. an internal battery that has just enough juice to run the thing for a few minutes, 3 or 5 or so, or even less, so you can swap the normal battery for the spare without powering down.
  3. sounds like a configuration problem. better contact your isp tech support and ask them wether you will need to set up something in a certain way to be able to connect with them.
  4. how can you believe in go but not in santa. at least you see santa doing some good once a year while all you see in the news about god is earhquakes hurricanes tsunamis sashimi starvation plague etc. etc. as for santa: satan and santa are both said to wear red. they have the same letters in their names and they have never been seen together. coincidence?
  5. since 2k6 is the ea title, i'd give that the nod. imo ea sports games are the cream of the crop.
  6. because a cable connection has speed reserves. the phone line does not. and r-d, i am just pulling your leg man.
  7. yours or vyraxes or is that a multiple name? boasting about running p2p on a large scale and then giving out info that can be traced. btw, charles bronson as admin contact is against the rules if that name is as fake as it sounds, i haven't checked the address given yet. but i'm sure speakeasy would be interested in someone running stuff like that on their net. they might not care much about the copyright part, but shutting down a connection that is causing a lot of traffic with a valid excuse...
  8. of course it's not possible, i was joking. if it was possible don'ty you think everyone would have done it in pre dsl/cable times?
  9. he must have uncapped his modem.
  10. cool. is vyrax.com your site?
  11. can i add that to my list of famous last words?
  12. let your fingers do the walking. if you know your new address, find out who owns the cabletv there. call them. call the local telco. beyond that, call an internet cafe or computer shop that is nearby and ask them. ask your future landlord if he knows anything.
  13. two burglars meet in the street: hi man. hi just wondering, what's your favorite crowbar? i find the binford crowmaster 3000 has just the right weight and curve to it.
  14. mods, go ahead and archive this thread. (curses linux and false positives in response to ms code) (if that's what it was)
  15. firewire most likely
  16. hm, either i'm getting spoofed back or by some freak there is indeed something wrong. i took the file down to be safe. for all wondfering it was an office.dll that i renamed to get file of correct size, trojan sig may be chance, i am checking my system atm to make sure. edit drat. it seems the redhat gave a false positive. i checked both the renamed file and the original, and the downloaded one. nothing. i copied a sober signature into a text file and detected it. so it seems the experiment was killed too fast. but better safe than sorry.
  17. cruel, questionable crimes/convictions etc. probably all things that can be said about the chinese justice system. but the custom of popping a cap in the delinquent's ass and then having the family pay for it, that /does/ have a certain style. but my pogo-stick-minesweeping solution is probably more useful, both to the people getting their mines swept and as a deterrent.
  18. i keep getting emails websites that claim i registered there and they are sending me the registration info in an attached zip of around 76 kB. when i click on it nothing happens. can any of you get these to work? edit spelling.
  19. solid advice, stank. except that magazines tend to get soggy and sticky, whereas those new waterproof keyboards and mice are more of a wash and go affair.
  20. ok. let me paraphrase. as for the piracy is bad part: [move][glow=red,26,300]RANT![/glow][/move] have a nice day.
  21. neither ad-aware or spyware s&d finish? try looking for the task that it is running as. then look for directories similar to it, chaeeck the startup folder, scan the registry for the name. it will likely be in multiple directories, the names of files may give clues as to what the others are. same with registry entries. there might also be one or more icons on your desktop, the browser start page may also be hijacked. the problem is if it is one of the better adwares it will replace any files deleted or tasks killed almost as fast as you can kill em. it is still worth a try. in one instance i had success by tricking the program. i found the executables that were being replaced and overwrote them with another executable (like the calc.exe) that i had copied and renamed appropriately. the prog didn't realize that while the file it was monitoring was still there it wasn't what it thought it was. when i then started killing tasks the task that tried to relaunch the thing couldn't because the file wasn't there anymore. while you are trying to manually eradicate the bastard you will want to cut off the net access for that comp (unplug network) so it can't recover things you kill from outside.
  22. um, he was put to death at 12:35 am local? he was found dead around that time?
  23. one of the founders of the los angeles based streetgang called the 'crips' has been found dead early this morning at san quentin state prison. he is rumored to have many enemies both inside and outside the jail. when asked for comment on the cause of death prison personnel was quoted as saying "Dude, STFU. he was on death row and due to have his ticket punched."
  24. who cares? he was using aol to send files inside his own net. DURRRRR!
  25. why didn't you say in your first post that you tried to steal it. go to http://www.winternals.com/products/repairandrecovery/erdcommander2002.asp?pid=erd there you can purchase the emergency 5 day license and download the program. then you follow the instructions i already posted. have a nice day.
