How to screw up a computer... and then fix it?
tommie gorman replied to Sonu's topic in Networking and Hardware
Mow some lawns, do extra chores, polish moms car, help neighbors for$. What I did when I was kid. -
Click on the blue Google above^^^. And welcome to the forum if I haven't already.

Welcome to the forum slm81555, if I haven't already. Have you thought about the pro plan. Have you tried TCP Optimizer or cable-nuts. Is your computer clean, cookies and files, Virus and Spyware. That time of day is still a little slow still. Try posting at late night or early in morning. Also try testing with the 2992 test file, or at least the 1496 file. Post back with speed test.

And this the inside of my computer. See the white slots. Those are the PCI slots. Just shut down the computer, completely. Open the side cover, should be two screws on the back rear left. slide the cover back, and bingo. Take out the screw holding the little strip in beside the slot you need, and gently push the new card into place, in my case it takes a little more pressure. Replace screw, close panel, turn on and screw new cable into card. Done.

Might try this: I just created a new folder. Moved some pics into the folder. Opened up the folder. Opened a second window with my pictures. Clicked and drug the pictures back into my pictures. And deleted the new folder which was empty now. Worked for me. 6 pictures, and only took me about a minute. First time I ever tried that either.

I guess I did get 3 greens and a blue,out of 1056, yeah. Lol.

I would have to say devastating! That is what had me so scared. Whew.

Would it make any difference to get the pro plan on the 4000, or are the speeds about the same. I assume the fap would be different. just wondered if the $10 extra would be worth it.

Direcway says 128 kbps U/L advertised, but I thought the 7000 was supposed to get 200 kbps. That does look like a shame, 133 instead of 200, if I am right. Leave it to Dway to get more money from selling new equipment on a hoax. If I can get 128 on 6000, and you can only get 133, it just don't seem fair. You guys paid more. And you on the pro, and me on the consumer. Dway=Bu_t_eads.

Thanks, I found it, and was it full!

So we are OK then, right.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I just talked to a friend of mine. He was in Iraq for a tour, and he said that a strike would hurt us more than it would help. Yeah, AT&T situation sucks, but there are a lot of alternatives that work better. So instead of us going through the inconvenience, we should let it go. But he much appreciated our combined efforts(he almost cried because so many americans are trying to help them out) but said that it was probably in vain anyway. His thanks and my thanks for all the support. :occasion14: Again THANKS!

Save a copy in my outbox. So where do I locate this? I found it in sending a member message area. Thanks.

"Can't Post Message" only happens when I am not logged in. Did you clean out cookies, files, run ccleaner, or something. I get it when I do these sometimes. Then I log in and it is OK.

Welcome to the forum rob1144 and that is an interesting question.

Wouldn't hurt, and when you do any USB operations, it would work faster.

The only other thing I can think of is when Bird Fan had me try Firefox, i made some changes to try and tweak the firefox browser, but I got rid of it, I did not think it would change IE any. Hey Blunted 2, if you keep helping me, you might learn a few new weird things, I know i have. Lol.

I just pushed the buttons in the firewall test, and it did the rest. MBSA is supposed to be a comp tech's tool(may have worded that wrong) to test for your security, updates, file types for security, firewall etc.. made by microsoft. Here, I'll go and get the link so you can what see what I mean. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/tools/mbsa2/default.mspx Download is about 1/2 way down the page. This the one that made me think that FAT files were bad. When i checked with emachines they said that that was on purpose. I just did not know how this test tested, and thought that maybe having two types of files might confuse the test. Other than that this it not a joke, I really did not know.

Looks like a favorite on internet explorer, will work fine. Thanks.

Yes, IE with no exceptions. That is why I was puzzled. And I just checked it. When I run Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer 2.0 it says that everything is OK. My C: drive is NTFS. And my D: drive is FAT32(system restore). Those are the only issues I have ever seen. But emachines assured me that my system recovery, was almost bullet proof. Is there something I am missing?
