  1. True, but that 50 bucks is IDE, and im in no hurry. Plus Walmart around here blows......
  2. I'm Dell certfified to order replacement parts and install them myself. We have 600+ computers in our building so its nice to have to deal with Dell techs. On a lot of the laptops now, they just replace the whole damn thing.(monitor) Plastics and all. I don't like the inspiron models, but the latitudes are great.
  3. Exactly, though I will admit, there were some cheeseball moments. Like how Harry found out how his father died, and the ending with Sandman was really cornball. It seems like they had to through a few things in at the last minute, to wrap it up.
  4. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148144 I bought this guy....and let me tell you, this one is FAST!! Especially running at SATA 2.
  5. I liked the fact that they didn't give us an hour and a half of mindless action, but instead a real movie, with character development and structure.
  6. No, Vista can install with the same options as XP. You just have to click advanced options to format the drive and such. Either way, installing the Vista that came with his new computer on his laptop is a license violation. So I cannot recommend doing that. XP media center is good, I would just let it be. As ninja said, it might not run as well as you'd like, especially if you don't have 2 gigs of RAM.
  7. Is this a cable modem? Your signal might be too strong, or its possible that its getting static buildup some how. Thats about the only thing I can think of. Have you run the latest firmware updates for both the router and the modem?
  8. I had a problem with a virgin once....took about 5 minutes to solve it....
  9. OMG I hate that M.F. I will find that guy and not only kill him, but I will make sure his death is caused from colon rupture by horse rape.
  10. Torrents are no different than any other P2P service. The things you download are legal unless they are copyrighted. BitTorrent is just a means to get them... A good example being Linux Distros that are seeded in torrent....
  11. Not trying to offend here, but please don't spell Linux like that. It's disrespectful to Linus Torvalds. Vista is a vast improvement over XP. Sure, its a bitch of a system hog, but it actually runs faster and smoother overall. (assuming your running the right system). The main problem with Vista, is that M$ reversed their method of software development. Instead of listening to what their users wanted, they looked at what the market wanted.
  12. Piratebay and UTorrent.... I occasionally use the standard "BitTorrent" app as well....
  13. Yes it will be a big performance jump.... I havn't really noticed ReadyBoost's effectiveness, but then again, I have resources as such that I wouldn't need it.
  14. Simple...it tried to go into sleep mode and failed.... What does this mean? Who knows....just go into your power options and disable sleep mode. I rarely use sleep mode because I havn't had much luck with it in the past. Hibernation was always better for me.
  15. Well....stuff happens lol....I have stuff randomly restart on me before....usually its an indicator of a bad stick of RAM. It will dump everything from the memory and reboot the computer. I would download a memory tester such as memtest86 and let it test your RAM.
  16. my guess, is that it may have went into stanby, and you mistakenly thought it was cut off so you hit the power button. Some machines cut off in standby if you hit the power button instead of hitting a keyboard key. Are you using a third party screen saver, or one included in vista?
  17. Did you get my reply to your last PM? I have the same setup as you (dw7000 w/static ip and WRT54G), and I have had no problems getting through with remote desktop. It has to be a config on the router somewhere. Do you know if you are using the latest firmware for your router?
  18. I heart NewEgg.....
  19. simple....something probably nudged the dish and threw off the alignment, or the polarization...
  20. no Check your PMs
  21. The router probably wont respond to a ping. If the cameras are wireless, im not sure that you can port forward to wireless, but maybe im wrong. Try connecting a computer to a LAN port on the router, then enable RDP on the computer and disable the "windows firewall". Then forward 3389 to the IP of the computer. Have someone try to connect to that and see if it will respond.
  22. yes.....do it as follows: Set the WRT54G to recieve its IP manually and use the following settings. on the router: IP Address: 67.44.xxx.x4 (which is one higher than the DW7000) Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.252 Gateway: 67.44.xxx.x3 (the IP of the DW7000) Make sure the DW7000 is connected to the WAN port on the router After that, forward the correct ports for RDP(3389) and the cameras(?) to the local IP of the computer or camera(192.168.1.x)
  23. No. The DW7000 is basically a "dumb" router that you can't configure. It recieves an IP address from Hughes, and uses NAT and DHCP to assign private addresses to your computers or a router. When you purchase a static IP, you are basically given 2 "public" IP addreses. One is assigned to the DW7000. The other you will either assign to a router (and then port forward), or to one computer connected directly to the DW7000. Hope I explained that well enough...
  24. You will need to set the static IP up MANUALLY on the router. Here is the FAQ on how and why you need to do that. http://www.dslreports.com/faq/13545 If you don't set the IP up on the router, you won't actually be using the static IP.
  25. I would stay away from Walmart. They mostly off brands, and its really not a good place to buy a TV. If you know what you are shopping for though, Sams Club is a great place to buy one.
