  1. its likely the battery wasn't connected good and was grounding out the system. Therefore no beeps, or lights or porn.....
  2. Well, I'll have all of you know that I run 1280 X 1024... Therefore.....I am.... standard.......
  3. Because electromagnetic waves travel best through a vacuum, just like a bullet will travel further and faster when shot through the air instead of under water. If your system is cutting out during a light rain, then you are either on the fringe of your satellite's footprint, or your system isn't aimed and or mounted properly. It takes a hell of a storm to knock me out. That goes for Hughesnet, and DirecTV.
  4. welcome bastard...... it felt wierd saying that.....
  5. Yep, it depends on how you setup the networking on the virtual machine. If you set it up to just bridge with host PC, it won't work. You'll need to assign an IP to the VMWare virtual machine. Then if you are setup on a router, you should be able to port forward to the IP address of the VMware virtual machine and it should work.
  6. To be honest, I havn't been able to exactly get an accurate testmy test using Hughesnet for a while. THe best practice is to test at least twice using Hughesnet. THe first test seems to always be high for me. Another thing to consider, is that Hughesnet is a very "bursty" connection, so seeing the bar stop and jump is normal because thats pretty much how the data is coming down the pipe. Java based tests are inaccurate on Hughes, especially the upload. Testmy is still simply the best test site for Hughesnet, and for everyone else for that matter, period.
  7. holy crap thats a big improvement lol....
  8. Don't worry, i'll be coming back to post those speeds just to piss you off lol....
  9. No, he means 140kB/s down. And pings would be about the same. That's on a regular cell network, not EVDO or edge.... I hear you tommie. I'm moving the last week of July and then I'll be on Embarq DSL(5Mb). I can't wait....
  10. Im on AMC9 1290, no slow downs here. How long has this been going on? The transponder you are on won't be the "default" transponder. That would only affect residential accounts, not the small business customers. My guess is there is an overloaded gateway, not transponder. If that is the case, the only thing you can get done is have your tranponder changed. I don't know if they can just change your gateway or not. gm
  11. Simple, the test from their site never leaves their network. Therefore "real" internet speeds aren't represented by the Hughesnet speed test. What transponder(frequency) are you on? gm
  12. Latitude owns Inspiron We've bought about 20 Dell D820's and we haven't had any problems at all. They are very nice machines. Im sure you'll enjoy it.
  13. Thats true if you burn them as a data disc, but if you burn them as an audio disc, using Itunes, you can rip them back as an MP3.
  14. force range.......
  15. http://www.microsoft.com/surface/ And here it is....
  16. Well, the "ABC rep" was wrong about one thing. Christians are certainly not the minority. The european first settlers on this rock were puritans, therefore this nation was founded by a bunch of prudes lol. I myself take a nihilistic aproach to issues such as gay marriage and abortion and things like that. I simply don't care one way or the other. I see both sides for what they are, opinions. Thats the beauty of "free will", (though free will is debateable). People in the country just need to stop letting every little thing "offend" them. Thats why we have to live in this ridiculous politically correct facade now.
  17. IMHO, its better than IE6 and Firefox, but OPERA is better than all of themm....IMHO....
  18. You cannot edit group policy with XP Home edition. But you can always go to your network properties and uninstall the "QOS packet scheduler" from your network device.
  19. SATA cdroms are around. Most of the new dell minitowers are using them. Not that they are any faster though...
  20. OFFICE 2007 does rock.....
  21. I can confirm that this update seems to work. So far so good...
  22. And if you want to use the internet while in safe mode, select safe mode with networking...
  23. Thread revival, just to let you know, MS released a fix for this problem today. We discovered it happening in our building, I had to reimage 4 computers yesterday because of it, only for MS to release this update today. crap... http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927891
