I have xp home service pack 2 and its there... my grandmother has xp home service pack 2 also and she has it.. but both of our comps are hp so that might explain things

Yes, i had that problem with my hp.. for a week i didnt know why my windows wouldnt boot.. turned out.. i had left a memory card in my memory card reader.. and that was first on the boot list... changed that very fast... lol

If you have windows xp go to . Start > Accessories > Communication > Remote assistance... I believe most windows has that ...i might be wrong.. check it out
