All you OC'ers out there...hows about some tips....

I would agree with everyone else...Overclocking an HP could be a really bad idea, and the bios may not even let you... Best to build your own rig, then blow it up....It's more fun that way -
I put 3 in the box, and it shows the correct time, and I am in Eastern time zone as well(NY) Profile/Look and Layout Preferences/Time Offset

Voltages also depend on the chip...My AMD 4000+ nominal voltage is 1.5, and I have it @ 1.6v to keep it stable due to o/c. If I set my voltage @ 1.4 on this chip, it would be so unstable, it probably woundn't even boot. ISPgeek, that chip has an unlocked multiplier correct? If so, you have more room to go than I do..The 4000+ has a locked multiplier, so I am limited in how I can o/c it... Edit...Wrong link...That was for my friends board..I have to look for the link I was thinking of.. <--some good info on fsb, htt, voltages, etc... When you buying the full game biotch... -
http://speedtest2.eastlink.ca/ <---- Thank link works well for me... Couldn't find the 512 test..But the 100mb is much faster with that server than cachefly..

Just installed IE7, and so far, so good...No problems just yet...Does seem to run a lot faster than IE6. ISPgeek, are you sure you installed the version for x64...I'm pretty sure they have a different one for x86, and x64..Perhaps you were trying to install the wrong one? Just a thought..

I don't have the best of luck either, and no leaks...I think it's pretty hard to have a leak...I barely had to tighten the fittings to seal them....I figured I risked cooking the cpu from heat, so I 'd rather cook it in an attempt to not cook it.. -

If you really want to o/c, it's worth getting a water cooling system...I have a thermaltake water cooler, and it works like a charm... My cpu gets to maybe 40c when playing BF2142....Now it stays really cool, because the room is cool(I have the radiator mounted outside of case, away from the case..) Temps aren't my problem with o/c'ing now, its my crappy memory that is in need of an upgrade very soon... I got my 4000+, which has a locked multiplier, up to 2.7 from stock 2.4...My memory I think is what can't keep up...I have it at just over 2.6 and it runs rock solid...You said you bought good ram, so you should be able to go up a bit more. I could probably stretch it to 2.8 with good ram.. Water Block... -

Mine was a totally different problem that had nothing to do with power levels....Trust me I tried new splitters well before I ever called them...You could go out to the pole, and plug in the modem, and it would still take 30min. They changed the drop, and we changed all our coaxial in the house, along with new splitters, and it made no differrence. I was never exactly told what the problem was(other than it was a problem with the entire node), but nobody ever stepped in my home or anywhere near it to fix it, and it took them over 3 months to repair it. -

Just one tip with that tool ...Go up in the smallest increments....I got too bold with it, and managed to force a re-install of windows. I was being stupid I think subconsciously I was trying to blow it up, so I can get an FX-60... Did you update the bios yet? Asus does put out bios updates pretty frequently... -

With OOL, it's all about what node you are on... I was on an extremely oversold node, and they would not split it..Plus, I was promised a refund from OOL, and that never came, even after calling to ask the status of the refund. Our service was so bad at times(sunrise till about 2am), that we were constantly dropping packets, and the speeds were anywhere from 56Kbps-2,000Kbps(when it was supposed to be 10,000Kbps at the time)....Plus, there were days that our modem wouldn't synch for almost 30 minutes..So if god forbid you liked to turn off your electrical equipment before leaving the house, so LIPA doesn't rape you, you had to wait a half hour for the internet to "warm up" before you got an IP address...Only took them 3 months to figure that one out... ....OK, I have to stop the rant now....To be honest, if their customer support was in the least bit friendly, I probably wouldn't hate them so much. For years they were fine, then they oversold our node, did nothing to remedy the situation, and then flat out lied about a refund... -

http://www.cpuid.com/clockgen.php That tool is a nice easy way to crank it up a bit in real time...Check the site for the PLL, I am pretty sure that board is on there..I have an asus board also(you can use their built in o/c as well), and had no problems using that tool.. Just to it a little at a time, and of course know how to clear the cmos, which I am sure you do.... http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_871_9706,00.html Dual Core optimizer from AMD as well.. -

Actually verizon does give us hosting for a small website, and online storage for files, neither of which I use... For me it was simple $45 for 10/1, but in our area we never got half of that, and I spent half the week talking to tech support. or $49 for 30/5, which we always get full speed, and I have never had to call them... -

OOL does...I'm sure Blunted can account for this....They have an itchy trigger finger for capping... -

I would just call them, since either way you are are going to have to(if you have a xanax or any other drugs around, you may want to take them prior to calling.. ) . If you are capped...You have to call..If there is just a problem...You have to call. What ever you do, DO NOT tell them you use file sharing programs or using bit torrent programs, as they will give you crap about it. If you do choose to use the torrents or any filesharing, go to options, and limit your upload speed, or you will just get capped again...Eventually they can say you violated their TOS, and then you are screwed.... EDIT: OOL -
Sounds like Optonline here...When my cable(which thankfully I don't have anymore) would get all screwy at 7pm everyday, they would tell me it was my pc . Funny part was, we had 2 modems(on 2 seperate accounts) on 2 computers in the house, and both would slow to a crawl at the same time... I asked the last tech I spoke with there what the odds of 2 computers slowing down at the same exact time everyday, which are not connected in anyway, and then these same 2 computers, by some miracle, speed up around 3am(and again they both speed up at the exact same time). Then factor in the fact that both of these computers did this every single day, and never had just 1 slow down.... Bascially I told him they were all full of s@$t, and then switched to Fios the day it was available. Amazingly, I have not had a problem with either computer since...It must a miracle...All my computer problems suddenly cured themselves, and not only this computer, but the other one as well...

It does sound like your PSU is not putting out enough juice... Did you try to clear your CMOS? If you don't know where the jumper is, or you don't have a jumper for it, just take out the battery on the board, and leave it out for a few minutes, then put it back in, and try to boot her up...**of course remember to have power cord unplugged while doing this, and discharge yourself prior to touching the pc..**

You don't want to know what I pay for the 30/5 (it's less than their professional package ) I concur with dlweis23, that really sucks..

If you want to call truth an excuse, then so be it... Try and find NON-BETA drivers for DGE-530T for Windows XP x64.... -
I have probably been in some of the buildings(still have a key for the air dryer rooms..but 1/2 an inch is melted off the end of it..Long story..) We used to maintain the chillers that kept the air dryer compressors cool...I did most of the brooklyn/queens/staten island ones...Most of the Verizon stuff we touched in the city was the "under the sidewalk" condensing units...Talk about no space.. .. You had to basically work while hanging sorta upside down..F@#@in gravity.. Edit: Come to think of it, I think being in those air dryer rooms is partially why I can't hear a damn thing.. Man that room was loud..

There were a bunch of different ones we installed...All basic energy management systems.. The hospitals have some really cool stuff...Shows you temps along the piping, pressures at different points in the system, position of the valves, etc....Its pretty sweet. Did some Trane VAV systems for Verizon sites...Those were fun...TONS O WIRES

I used to install/service similar stuff with heating and air conditioning...We had total control over the building from our office or any internet connected pc, which eliminated half the problems caused by people not having a clue how to operate a simple thermostat....Plus, we could test all our equipment from the pc, so you could have an idea what you were up against when you had to go there for repairs...Fun Stuff Plus, it saved them a ton on energy costs...Some places saved 1/4 on their bills
