  1. Weird, I bet your RWIN is set incorrectly. Try DrTCP from DSLReports.com or TCP Optimizer from SpeedGuide.net Here's a static file on TestMy.net to test from >> 100MB Static Test
  2. ... before your time... I don't think you were born when that type of expansion card was on the market. I'm pretty sure that's an ISA expansion card... maybe MSA
  3. Apple PowerBook G3 Pismo (circa 1998) Later PowerBooks had the slim drives...
  4. Well, if it 'aint broke, don't fix it! If you're happy with how it's running then you're good-2-go. If they're quoting you 6-12 Mbps and you're getting 7Mbps... that's right on the money really. But, I don't know why they would call it 20Mbps, I know that's with powerboost... but they should really do what Cox does and call it what it really is and include powerboost as an added bonus. In my opinion that's allot better way to sell the product, makes the customer almost always feel like they're getting more than they paid for. I think you're in good shape though. But you'll really just have to feel out a faster internet connection to see if you'd benefit from more speed. Insane connections aren't necessarily for everyone
  5. It was a routing issue... and it cleared up
  6. Thanks One of my next tasks coming up will be making some videos. A few quick videos outlining how I personally use the site. I'm sure there are a ton of features that you guys haven't even realized are there yet. Yeah, sorry I haven't been letting you guys know about every little thing. As I said in a previous post, I'd rather spend my time building instead of talking about what I've built. ... 'Cept right now, I'm on a little break. -CA3LE Oh... and the export feature has been here for like 5 years. But I have made it recently work better.
  7. You may want to ask yourself a more important question. Why? Seriously, there is no reason to drop speeds that drastically going across the country. What package do you pay for? I'm only about 600Miles closer to the server than you are and I'm able to max out my 50Mbps line. Everyone always talks about the distance from the server. It does not have to be a factor if you have a good host and good connection. But the test server must be configured correctly to optimize how packets are sent over distance. My server is hosted on one of the most major internet pipeline cross roads on the internet. As long as your host is well peered and your running through a clean route you should be able to nearly max your connection regardless of distance. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either in the pocket of the ISP's or doesn't know what they're talking about. The point to this website is to hopefully raise awareness and ultimately help make a better connected internet. But it's hard with so much misinformation out there. Yes, distance adds latency and blah blah... Think of this guys. Good example (out of many), I've had visitors from Japan pull over 200Mbps off here... distance wasn't an issue for them, why should it be an issue for you when you're 100X closer? I'm paying for a 50Mbps INTERNET connection, not a 50Mbps local area connection. If I were you and was getting only 7Mbps after crossing three states... I'd be pissed and on the phone with Comcast, cause that's BS ----- and then they send you to their speed test that eliminates the variable of THE INTERNET, make you think your line is okay and send you on your way. Your host is responsible for who they peer with... if one of those providers that they're going through to get to my server is bottlenecking don't you think that your provider should do something about it? And if they can't get the problem solved maybe they should peer through better providers themselves. Let me know if I'm wrong guys.
  8. Thanks kuchiku
  9. Somewhere along the route had to be slowing that speed down. There are tons of users, every day who pull speeds faster than those. You're only as strong as you're weakest link. If there was some 100Mbps bottleneck somewhere in there... :-/
  10. I have like a hundred laying around. I'll see if I can find this one awesome intel one I have... I'll let you know tomorrow.
  11. This guys upload speed spiked the Speed Index... https://testmy.net/compID/147787053257
  12. That was corrected shortly after (or while) you posted. ... and, your welcome sir!
  13. Damn dude, I really don't know. ... I've never seen a problem like that. You may want to hit up the uTorrent forums, you'll probably find more people with more specific knowledge regarding that. At least I assume. No matter what, you've got to update this thread with your solution. Anyone else have any ideas?
  14. cool
  15. You son of a... I want that phone! I got all excited the other day, saw a Best Buy ad on their website that said, "$250 off when you buy in the store!" -- I looked all over and didn't see anything about an agreement, it even had a link that said, "Price with an Agreement" --- I got to the store and they said, "Oh, only on new contracts." -- "WHAT!" I looked at my phone and BAM, I then noticed where it said that. But I swear I didn't see it the first time. Wouldn't it be funny if Best Buy was badass enough to secretly grab your GPS location.... if($LocationGPS == $InStore){ echo 'Price with 2 year service agreement'; }else{ trickDamon(); } [/code]
  16. It seems (to me) more than coincidence that it's symmetric and nearly 10Mbps on the dot. Besides that. Here's what I would do to troubleshoot the problem... First, we need to narrow it down, eliminate variables. Run ONLY your web browser first, get a baseline test (you shouldn't have to run both test types because this problem appears to be effecting everything, so to save yourself time just run the Download Test Once you've established that your connection is running as it should be... start to add the variables back in, one at a time. So load up either DC++ or uTorrent (one or the other)... share for a while, test and see if your connection is having the problem. Repeat with the other program. If it does it with both, then you've established that the problem runs deeper and that it's not something one of those programs may be causing. ... Do that first and let me know, it could be as simple as one of the programs not releasing resources once it's closed. Another thing would be to verify in task manager that nothing related to your sharing is still tying up resources. There could be a secondary process or something tying up resources. (or not... I'm just throwing out ideas here) Nick... you just want to show off that insane upload you have! -- just kidding. You do have an awesome upload speed though.
  17. I've already got enough MiniDVI connectors to hook them all up. Right now though, I'm using it by itself in my kitchen. I feel like a new computer always requires an office rearrangement. You get the full effect of a new computer IMO when you make the surroundings new as well. At least for me... everything serves a purpose. Especially my computer, I have a Seiko Kinetic for bling... my iMac has a purpose. Totally That's a good analogy. You can buy a shitty hammer that will get the job done for a while but it will always let you down in the end. OR you can buy a badass hammer and never have to buy another one. ... Apple is just a workhorse, all the development here in the past couple years has been on Mac. There is no doubt in my mind that I would have only completed about 1/3rd of the work I did if I were still on PC. Windows Fan Boys (hey they call us Mac Fan Boys) always ask, "Why... can't you just set yourself up the way you like on PC, wouldn't it be the same?" -- No, I'm sorry... after working on the Mac this long there is really no comparison for me anymore, at least for what I do. I came from Windows 7 by the way... so it's not like I'm comparing an old version of windows or something. I guess it's a combination of software, form and function. I just do things more efficiently since I switched over. I developed on PC for... well my whole life before two years ago. Having said that, for productivity Mac can't be beat. (IMO) And now I have this Magic Trackpad... OMG it's awesome when you get used to it. I'd played with it in the store a bunch of times and didn't like it, but really it just takes some getting used to. The gesturing that you can do it a huge timesaver and feels very natural. I'm in love. -- haven't touched my mouse since.
  18. I love this idea, I've been wanting to do it for a long time. But I think I've got my database reworked to where I can add this soon. Here's the plan, you'll be able to give each computer a unique name. So for instance, if you have 4 computers on the same connection this will make it possible to further filter your results. This feature will extend to the averages etc... so the averages you're shown will be more relevant to the computer your currently sitting at. This is something that I've been wanting to do for a long time but I've had more important issues to deal with. I think now I'm at the point to get this implemented. I have a few details about exactly how I want to do this that I need to first hash out. But, look for it hopefully by the next version. I love suggestions, thanks. Thank you for your continued Patronage, - CA3LE
  19. Okay, so I added options for that. The other idea I had is going to be more work than I'm willing to put in (on that) today. There is now an Express Combined link in the menu and the Auto test page now has a checkbox that will make it easy to turn that feature on and off... because of your comments I've made this feature disabled by default. It's a cool feature but it may not be ready for default for a while... I have to teach it some more tricks first, lol. Thanks for your suggestion and bug report. As you can see by how quickly I took care of this, I don't mess around.
  20. I see what you're talking about. I had a feeling that I was going to have to go back and rethink that... it's a good idea but I need to build a failsafe to make sure that doesn't happen, actually... just thinking of the word 'failsafe' gave me an idea. ... and I'm pretty sure it's exactly the fix you're thinking about. (damn, I think I have a solution before I've even dug into the code, lol) For now, I've disabled this feature. Once I've worked on the idea a little more and re-enable it I'll make sure that there's a checkbox that will provide you the option to enable and disable this timesaver. Thank you for your input, it's very valuable to me. - CA3LE
  21. Work... continued development here. Not a chance bud... I'm not done with that puppy yet, it's going in the living room. I think I love that too much to ever get rid of it. For instance, my son wants to switch to Mac... and after thinking about it... I would rather buy him a new one than give up mine. It's seriously the first computer that NEVER let me down. Changed my preference in computers forever. When (or if) it stops working I think I'll have it mounted in a glass case.
  22. Thanks
  23. Post a good link to a tutorial vid on changing the hard drive... if you know of one already. I'm sure future readers of this thread... as well as myself will find that helpful.
  24. Which droid do you have? I still haven't done that myself... mine runs so good I don't want to screw it up... haha
  25. So is there just one free extra memory slot? Also, do I get to that and the HDD in that spot under the display with the two screws? I want to throw my SSD in this beast --- give the 1TB drive to my mini I LOOOOOVE this trackpad. They gave me the trackpad and magic mouse. As I was about to leave I said, "On your website it said I can pick between the two." And the guys just said, "We'll just give you both..." Apple rules. -- I really like it though, the gesturing is nice and faster than using a normal mouse I think. ...... this thing is going to help me allot
