  1. Can you please try the Colorado Springs server again?
  2. I queried your IP with TMN's IP tools and it's showing WI The reason you see TX and a Texas flag is because it's indicating the server you're testing against. This has confused many people, I need to make it more intuitive or put some explanation. Hasn't been down. If it was down you wouldn't have been able to post that. I'm the webmaster. Past, present and future WOW - tmn - low.mp4
  3. ROCO you will be missed I hope they put ROCO -- and it better be in CAPS.
  4. Right on! Thank you dude. Definitely a work of passion. I'm happy that it shows. My life's work and relatively, I've barely started it. Can't wait to share more with you. My mods and users have all helped immensely in the growth and development of TestMy.net since the beginning. I am the programmer, webmaster, admin etc behind TMN but YOU (the MY in testMY.net) are the ones building it. I aggregate information you provide in comments and even from just interacting with my service and make it part of my programs. Just by using the service you make it better in the future. Provide human feedback and you're really helping me! I owe my progression to YOU, 100%. I'm constantly learning because of my users, thank you. Just knowing that so many people use and rely on my tools gets me fired up to learn new programming languages and techniques, etc. I love that quote! My overall goal is and always has been to give everyone, from novice to network admin, the tools they need to understand and get the most from their internet service. I hope you keep visiting into the future. Maybe one day I'll figure out how to get more developers involved. That would be awesome.
  5. I don't have a release date yet or any details. If you PM me with "Beta Tester!" I'll make sure you're included. Have you used the automatic speed test? What features would you like to see added to?
  6. Oh man! You're really going to love what I'm brewing. Right up your alley!!
  7. I'll add some UI elements to make it easier to toggle that the way you'd expect it should. For now, you can filter your results to show only download or only upload results. Below the graph there are up and down arrows you can click to filter that way. Like I said in your Feature Request: Pause Automatic Tests thread, PM me with "Beta Tester!" and I'll make sure you're part of the development. I need good suggestions from people who regularly use my current tools. Some unreleased tools that have proven very useful for myself just keep proving themselves and I can't wait to share them. I actually don't even know all the uses for them yet. We'll be discovering together.
  8. That's a great suggestion, I'll make sure to keep this in mind in my upcoming redesign. Send me a PM "Beta Tester!" - I have cool stuff to show you. -D
  9. Sweet find! I'd definitely try to revive it. Here's instructions on how to create a bootable OSX install USB. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201372 If you have a USB windows keyboard you can use it. When you boot up hold the option key [alt on a windows keyboard] to get the boot menu and then select the OSX install USB. From there it's a standard OSX install.
  10. Noticing latency come down on my sensor. Hard for me to tell if things are better bandwidth wise because I'm getting a shaky connection everywhere for some reason right now. It was fine earlier. Normally fine. Oh well, that's why TMN is here. Let's test it! Latency wise, it seems to have cleared up. Previously I was focused on a different server (Toronto) and you can see where I switched to Dallas when your post came in. Just recently it started to clear up. This is a tool you'll all have access to soon. The expansions prior to release will make it even more useful. I don't want to say too much before the product is in your hands. I'll just say, you can do interesting things that may be useful to certain people. Useful to me, usually means others will find it useful. Initially this will be exclusive to members. PM me with "BETA ME!" if you want to be part of the beta group. And yes, reset my modem and router.
  11. Yes, there appears to be routing issues with Dallas. Not affecting everyone. Looking at https://testmy.net/live I see many still posting results that are 100's of Mbps. I'm seeing the same issue as you on my home connection. Got a support ticket in. Can you post your traceroute please? Paste the result back here please. I wonder if our routes have that (gtt.net) in common. Other clients may take different routes and will be unaffected.
  12. That's a great idea and should actually be really easy to implement. About to start another round of programming, I think I'll start with this feature. Thank you for the kind words by the way. I'll make sure you're in on the beta tester group. I have a unique new tool I think you'll be very interested to try.
  13. So can you still pull up the MBA on Find My? Call the police and tell them where they can find it. You should have the option to erase and lock the devices too. Below is information for the computers you still control. If you feel like your computer has been compromised you should format it. You can hunt down the processes if you have the technical knowledge but even if you know what you're doing you still run the risk that you miss something. If the person was able to install one program, they could have done more. I would use a freshly formatted backup volume. Something larger in size than your largest mac's hard drive space. If you have a 1TB iMac for instance, use 2TB or larger. You can use a 1TB drive but some manufactures have variances in size. If it's even a few bytes smaller it won't work (at least with the built in Time Machine). Make a backup using Time Machine and/or third party software like Carbon Copy Cloner -- sometimes I'll do both to be extra sure. After you've made a backup Apple's website is a good place to start understanding how to reinstall MacOS https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204904 And then you'll want to migrate your data back to the machine. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204350 If it were any of my machines and I had any indication of anything funny going on... especially if you've trusted someone with access to these computers and they have a motive to do this to you... I'd format the machines and do fresh installs to be safe. Just make sure you understand what you're doing first and the risks involved. Make sure you're using backup drives you trust. Personally, for reliability I only use Samsung SSD... they make the job much faster too. Seagate backup plus drives have been reliable for me too, much more affordable solution. But it might take forever because these cheaper drives have their limitations. If there are a lot of small files in your backup you may need an SSD to back it up. I just wouldn't want to do a backup this important on just any old drive you have laying around. Now, if you have a couple of cheap drives and you do Time Machine on one and CCC on the other... I'd trust those odds.
  14. I wonder if there are new power management settings and Edge may be putting the tab to sleep or something. I'll put it on the bench and see if I can reproduce and get back with you. For now, try scheduling the same test using Chrome or Firefox and see if this resolves the issue. If there are new settings I may be able to work around them. Sorry for the extremely delayed response. I got your message right away and 10 minutes after you sent it I started scheduling some tests and investigating but wasn't able to reproduce the issue (but wasn't using Edge). I had it scheduled out for a while and then by the time it finished forgot to update this thread. My bad. -- Again, I'll give it a try using Edge, may provide more info. Pretty certain it's not an issue effecting large numbers of users.
  15. You definitely rank... the program that runs every 5 minutes to do the ranking was disabled on accident. A second similar (old version) program was supposed to be disabled. I re-enabled this and you're ranking #2 now. Sorry for the inconvenience, thank you for helping me notice my mistake. Side note: Heads up for anyone trying to rank, you must have both upload and download results to rank.
  16. Correct. Thank you @Sean It's supposed to be disallowed on registration. I'll look into that to make sure it's not an issue for users in the future. @Rebecas hose I modified your username. Run a few tests and it will save under that new username (https://testmy.net/quickstats/Rebecas hose) correctly.
  17. If you aren't seeing a bottleneck anywhere else... they very well may be throttling. Or maybe the program you're using is limiting you in some way. Have you tried a different BT client?
  18. You may need to add an exception If you navigate to https://100.100.100.100/ you should see something similar to this Click "proceed (unsafe)" -- you trust your own machine, right? That's all the unsafe warning is about. After you've accepted that you should be able to run that test. The best way to do it would be to configure a self-signed certificate. https://www.vultr.com/docs/configure-apache-with-select-signed-tls-ssl-certificate-on-ubuntu-16-04 -- may have to do a search for a guide on your specific installation. I'm seeing now that there's a bug. You're supposed to be able to use http or https with that but for some reason it's locked on https. It normally detected that and corrected for it but another edit I made later may have affected it. So I'll look more closely later... just peeked in there and it looks like I'll have to dig deeper. Self-signed cert for your localhost or the machine you're running your web server on will solve it for good.
  19. Just got a 30 second lock up switching tabs in Chrome.
  20. Yes, if you comment on this thread I'll also make sure you're added when the time comes.
  21. More on that later. I would have warned you earlier but it's destroyed so much, my time has been consumed. Time to reinstall macOS for the first time ever. Or maybe not... They broke this on purpose. My Late 2014 5K iMac is now vintage, right after the "upgrade". F#?k you Apple. Time to build a new rig. ... I have NEVER seen such a steaming pile of shit as this release. It has completely crippled everything I loved about my computer. Luckily I only installed this on one machine. Unluckily it's my favorite one. Just randomly freezes in ways I've NEVER seen a mac freeze. DO NOT UPDATE TO BIG SUR! Unless you like to destroy perfect things. I thought I could reinstall a bunch of programs and make it work. It's actually just getting to the point of unusable, more bugs as time goes on. With normal things like Chrome, VLC.. even Terminal has frozen my system, shortly after a reboot. To the point of complete lock up for minutes. iMac w/ maxed out specs, reduced to total and complete garbage. Ran perfectly stable, no reboots ALL YEAR before this update. I just have to reinstall and start fresh with macOS Catalina again... and I guess that's it for my machines. No more updates, they're vintage junk to Apple now. Lesson learned. Maybe just time to rebuild. 100% Linux. I'll start with Apple hardware I already own... and I guess - build away. Bye Apple. You no longer love me, you never did.
  22. Here's what I have on the IP you're using right now TMN ID: 1750919130334 ISP: GREENDOT City: Arima, ARI Country: TT Here's what I have on the IP you first registered under TMN ID: 174772342629 ISP: Telecommunication Services of Trinidad and Tobago City: Petit Valley, DMN Country: TT Where are you really located? There's actually already GPS functionality built into TestMy.net but I didn't like my implementation so it's been disabled. That might go back as far as 2012 so it will just need to be rewritten. This will be made available in future versions under advanced settings. If your location or ISP are incorrectly detected it has no affect on your testing or results. Country code (99.8% accurate at that level) is used for a rough approximation to choose the closest server but that's it. ... trust me, I'll love to have that option. When I had it on here before I was having a lot of fun with it, especially on the road. It just wasn't user friendly at the time... but I'm a much better programmer now -- might be able to get it much closer to what I originally imagined that functionality would bring. Thank you for the suggestion!
  23. There we go, now it makes more sense. I found a mistake there. +1H was being added by mistake. Was put in the code temporarily to correct for something that was later corrected at the source... I forgot to remove the reference. Thank you for helping find that. It should be displaying correctly for everyone now.
  24. Pulling up your settings in my database and I show that your timezone offset right now is -7. I'm in Colorado in the same timezone as you and mine also shows -7. My time is showing correctly site wide. Can you please take a screenshot where you're seeing it displayed incorrectly so I can investigate further?
