is it in one huge bar like that? And is it brand name? -
My video card has Dual-DVI on it --- your video card has to support it, or you can use more than one video card.. but to do that your motherboard has to support it or you have to use PCI video cards.

Does anyone else have dual, tri or quad monitor setups? Share with us! Post your pictures in this thread.
I just want to show off - I recently reformatted and cleaned a friends computer, he decided he wanted a new monitor. I was going to order him a new monitor but he said he would rather buy my old monitor because he knew I was going to buy myself a new 19" soon. So I ordered myself the new 19" LCD SAMSUNG 940B for $297 (with shipping and everything, from newegg) and gave him my old 17" LCD Viewsonic VP171B for $200 (a veeeery nice 17" by the way). After I installed his freshly formatted computer and monitor he told me that I could keep his old monitor... so I just setup dual monitors... To bad the monitor he gave me is a crappy 17" Envision EN-7100S LCD with major color, brightness and contrast problems... but it's better than no dual setup. I can already tell that this setup is going to help my productivity. Pictures below. What I would really like to have is two or three more of those 19" SAMSUNG 940B. That would look SICK because the border is so thin on them (and the color and contrast is killer also) There is actually a company that sells a stand that holds your choice of three or four of them... and this monitor happens to have the screw holes for the VESA mounts so it's ready for action - Long story short, I HIGHLY reccomend getting the SAMSUNG 940B if your in the market for a great, affordable 19" LCD; Samsung makes great LCDs and the last 10 that I've ordered (I build computers for friends often) have had ZERO dead pixels... if you're looking for a 17" then go for the SAMSUNG 740B, but for only $60 differnece you might as well get the 19"
DSCF2310.jpg DSCF2316.JPG DSCF2318.JPG

I've seen allot of members who are signed up but have never posted and visit the site nearly every day.. I see them reading threads for hours and hours... but they never post, so zero posts doesn't mean that they aren't active. Judging from last login time, I can see that about 4300 members have been active in the last 60 days. Around 10,000 active in the last 6 months. As for how many mods we have.. well we have about 20 mods, 6 vice admins and 1 admin. Out of the mods only about 8 are really active right now (some people have stuff going on in their lives and can't help with the site as much as they would like to). So we have 1 active mod/admin per 1800 members. Or 1 mod/admin per 280 active members (members who have connected in the past 60 days). We have quite a few mods, but most other forums I have seen have many more than we do... and they usually have less users. It's just, their mods usually don't talk as much as our mods do -- and their mods definitly aren't as helpful as ours are
-
the reason it seems there are so many mods is because our mods and admins are very active. they make lots of posts and are very active in the community, pretty rare in allot of forums. Our admins and mods love this site, love to help people and love to chat... that's why they have their titles

Alright, I've made a compromise. The majority of you (according to the poll) like the new banner idea. But 1/3rd of you still like the stars... I figured I would make everyone happy and combine the two, the change has been made... let me know what you guys think
-
hummmm -- what do you guys think about me combining the two See the attachement and let me know what you guys think -Damon
-
Please vote in this new thread >> http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-13870 lol, the poll in this thread is too viage to be used in any real decision
-
I personally think that the new banner rank setup is more modern... but I will leave the decision up to our members. Please vote, express your opinion examples about what I'm talking about are posted below.
-
Yeah, I made rank images instead of the stars.. let me know what you all think.
-
if they would just come to my area I would seriously pay them twice that amount for that connection... too bad their area is limited.
-
We you at least don't want to publically talk about doing something like that... because if your ISP searched on the internet trying to find poeple talking about uncapping (or someone read your post and told your ISP) and were to get the authorities involed that agency could subpena the information in my forums... and I would be forced to give them your IP address and then it could get ugly for you. So if you were thinking about doing something like that, don't talk about it publically, that stuff does happen.. trust me.. I used to work for a Cable Provider. - Damon oh yeah... but there are ways you can get the most out of your connection, research optimization in our forum here.. and post if you have any questions... many thousands of people have increased their speed with the help you find in these boards

Yeah, I call it a mouse, keyboard and patience -- hahaha

by the way, I have a friend who came to the US about 24 years ago from Guatemala (he came here legally by the way), he had nothing. His first job was a McDonalds. He got a house after a few years, then got a new one a couple years later and rented his old one.. he did that over and over and then started just buying houses and renting them. Now he owns 16 houses (last I heard) and a 10 unit apartment complex and his net worth is well into the millions and even after paying all of his mortgages he profits about $6000/month. The kicker is that in about two more years most of his properties will be completely paid off (he refied with short term 10 and 15 year mortgages on many of his properties). After those are paid off ALL of the rent he gets will be profit. So he is TOTALLY set for life just because he played te real estate market the right way... OH and plus in the past two years or so the market for houses here in Phoenix went way up (my house has nearly doubled value and I only got my house 4 years ago)... so his net worth has just about doubled in the past few years. Man, I wish I was set up like that, I can't even imagine being THAT relaxed. Hell, if he wanted to he could sell just the little apartment complex he has for a couple million, he told me that he picked that up years ago for 300K and now it's worth a couple million, wouldn't you like to have that kind of equity?!?! -- and that's just ONE of his properties, he's the luckiest Guatemalan I've ever met, and to think... he started only a little over 20 years ago... at McDonalds, that goes to show you that ANYONE can do it if you're determined enough. He always tells me stuff like "Americans have all of this gold right in front of them, but unfortunately for them they are too lazy to reach out and grab it... For some reason they expect someone to put it in their hand, if they only knew how easy it is to reach out and grab it for themselves... if they only knew. I'm very happy to be in the United States but still have the work ethic of a Guatemalan" -- He's a very smart man... we can all learn allot from him, seriously. I know I've personally learned allot from him. -Damon

I haven't had time to read this thread.. but I can tell you this much.... what you already know.... real estate is always a good idea

Yep.. someone actually tested all of the current mirrors! Check it out.. I ran ALL of the mirrors. I did this in between other tasks so all of the tests are over about a 1 1/2 hour time frame. All tests ran between 11:30pm and 1:00am GMT-0700 on May 2nd/3rd 2006 on my Cox Communications 9Mbps down / 1Mbps up home consumer class connection. The mirrors that I considered acceptable for testing on a connection as fast as mine are as follows testmy.net (of course) mirror-Blunted mirror-Blunted2 mirror-dlewis23 mirror-dlewis23-2 mirror-Elite.Pete mirror-lofl mirror-ShaneAu mirror-TriRan2 A little expaination Other people may get different results because of route and internet traffic. But I DO believe that the servers that didn't score over 7Mbps are incapable of attaining the bandwidth nessisary to test connections over 5Mbps. All of the mirrors outside of the US should be considered acceptable, if I was outside the US I'm sure I would have been able to get close to the maximum speed of my line. But given the distance I can't get accurate results from those servers.. that's just a given. Especially the VanBuren and just- mirrors are known to be great non-us mirrors, so don't count the non-us mirrors out just because I was unable to max out my own connection... your personal results will vary, especially true if your outside the US. And now for the results Keep in mind that all of these scores are taken with a 9Mbps connection
testmy.net :::..
