  1. welcome to the site by the way
  2. please post the stats for both computers .. let us know the CPU speed, how much memory, what OS, and let us know what speed your provider says you are supposed to get... also are you running any proxies or firewalls on either of the machines?

  7. Thanks
  8. do me a favor and run another test.. this time do a screenshot, upload the screenshot to this thread for me please.... I'll track down the problem
  9. I took a few hours this evening to script up some additions to the testing. I have added a dual test feature which allows you to test both upload and download at the same time. I hope you all like it. It lacks the details of the individual tests but I may add all the details at a later date. here are my results from the test... so you guys can see what the cut 'n paste output looks like :::.. testmy.net test results ..::: Download Connection is:: 8595 Kbps about 8.6 Mbps (tested with 5983 kB) Download Speed is:: 1049 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 1010 Kbps about 1.01 Mbps (tested with 1496 kB) Upload Speed is:: 123 kB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net (Server 1) Test Time:: 2006/06/06 - 11:12pm D-Validation Link:: http://www.testmy.net/stats/id-U1WZ02ESJ U-Validation Link:: http://www.testmy.net/stats/id-DW2RYVJM3 User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322) [!] The image below shows where the link is to run this test
  10. They will most likely be gone soon. It was a test that a Google rep suggested that I try... it's not performing as well as they originally thought.
  11. Some people sign up just to be able to store their scores under their username (it also allows them to save the scores for longer)... or they sign up to use one of the tools that requires membership. Some of them also sign up so that they can have post notification. I've seen quite a few members that have little or no posts that are still regular visitors (regular enough for me to remember seeing them in the 'who's online' list)... some people just don't want to post but would like the other benefits of membership. One of the members who was like this ended up posting once and we had a conversation about why he never posted, he said that he just didn't feel like contributing to the conversations he also said that he read the through the forums at least a hour a day, every day... I forgot who this was but they are now a regular poster... they went for over a year without making their first post. My point is that just because someone has a post count of zero doesn't mean that they aren't a regular visitor..... they're just shy
  12. and that's still allot of post... but our top posters put up some crazy ass numbers

  14. why what? -- read my last post .. I think we posted at the exact same time
  15. Naw, I own the site and always have. but Van has been a huge contribution to the site and has most of the time been more in the eye of the public than I have. For the past few weeks he hasn't been as active as he usually is.. but he's till around. In fact me and him were PM'n each other just today. The member only lounge is now defunct... it was a mini beta and ended up as something that was not needed.... all the posts from that section were moved to off topic. The section was a good idea in theory but I thought in the long term it would be negative for the site.
  16. awww I love you guys...
  17. lol -- god I love your avatar
  18. awww, .s1 .. thanks, lol
  19. I'm thinking it may have been because there was an error connecting to the scoare database... if it couldn't get the hosts average then it would resort to telling you what you saw.... normally that wouldn't show up though, did you see any errors on the page like "mysql database error" ??
  20. don't worry, I deleted it for you
  21. wow.. that is very wierd. I've never seen that happen. Do me a favor and run another test and paste the results again. I ran an upload test and the diagnosis showed up correctly, it's wierd that it would do that for the upload and not the download because the same script is used to process both results so the both diagnosis' are written by the same lines of code.... :::.. Upload Stats ..::: Connection is:: 899 Kbps about 0.9 Mbps (tested with 1496 kB) Upload Speed is:: 110 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Server 1) Test Time:: 2006/06/05 - 5:11pm Bottom Line:: 16X faster than 56K 1MB Upload in 9.31 sec Tested from a 1496 kB file and took 13.63488 seconds to complete Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322) Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 36.83 % faster than the average for host (cox.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-AGVZBOEDF
  22. Thanks guys --- but it's all of you that make this site what it is. All I did was make the original rules that happened to attract the right people........ from there the 'right people' took over and made the site what it is today. You guys rock. -- and thanks for posting this shug, I've noticed the same thing about allot of other sites. It's as if they feel smarter by talking down to people that are still learning, they should be ashamed. I'm glad that we have the right attitude here and we share the wealth of knowledge. - Damon
  23. Tru dat!
  24. No problem bro, nobody believed you anyway... haha j/k dude - thanks for being honest in the end
