why are the speed conversions on the speed test inaccurate?
CA3LE replied to onamae's topic in General Discussion
yes you did.. haha -- that shit is funny, I thought google knew everything!! I checked with like 10 resources, and I'm correct. -
why are the speed conversions on the speed test inaccurate?
CA3LE replied to onamae's topic in General Discussion
actually google is wrong about something.... this may be a first, lol they think that Mbps to Kbps conversion is 1024 --- it's actually 1000 http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=1+Mbps+to+Kbps http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=1000+Kbps+to+Mbps They are FLAT OUT WRONG! -- I did however have a minor calculation that was wrong, further investigation reveiled that a number was being put into the equasion that had already been rounded... this has been fixed WOW, Google was WRONG........ really, they were REALLY wrong?!?!?!?! haha -

why are the speed conversions on the speed test inaccurate?
CA3LE replied to onamae's topic in General Discussion
You are correct... there was actually a "1000" where "1024" should have been -- it's been resolved to error is human I guess -

if you change your mac address (with alot of ISP's) your IP will change... but I am pretty sure you can just call your ISP and request this... tell them this... "I accidently posted my IP in a forum online, and I am afraid that someone might try and hack me or something." -- when speaking with tech support on the phone, if you play dumb they are more likely to help you with something like that.... .... sad but true

For those of you that are interested here is the link to download Internet Explorer Beta2 Preview www.microsoft.com/windows/IE/ie7/default.mspx You can either download it at the link above or get it here with the file I have attached. Use at your own risk - testmy.net will offer no technical support on this product, and is not responsible for system failure or problems associated with using this software... this is a Microsoft release, download hosted at testmy.net is only for convenience.

damn.. gotta love that.. especially that upload!

Yeah, try using the normal test without the mirror -- I'm sure your score will be far lower -- looks like you get about 10-11Mbps off testmy.net's main test (see here) -- this is the more accurate test !!! bad ass scores by the way ~~ I only get 9.2Mbps max on my home connection.
