haha, yeah.. originally I was going to do that, but found out that SMF's permissions don't allow it (at least I couldn't figure out how to make it happen so I figured the permissions couldn't be set) -- anyway, I will fix that wording there.. haha

well.. all of those sites are competition... and aren't going to really want to link to me, I know I wouldn't want to link to most of them. haha DSLReports already has a few links to here, and if often talked about in their forums. -- the other ones though. You guys should write a review of the site on alexa for us -- there has only been two reviews for the longest time. http://www.alexa.com/data/details/?url=testmy.net (at the bottom)

Yeah, I may go even further with this idea and do it for all ISP's -- sounds like a big task with many variables but I got a little idea in my head of how I can do it pretty easy... we will see in a while if it all works out the way I have it drawn in my head. . . . . it usually works out though. hehe

Wow, I didn't notice those sites on that list... crazy! But then again I have no idea who netcraft.com is (the people doing those stats) -- according to alexa they are ranked '3,758' so they can't be too bad of a resource... ehh, who knows. I just know this site has grown to a size I couldn't have imagined a few years ago

I'm sure in '06 when Vista hit the market IE will take control again. I assume by then MS will be bundleing an all new IE... and I'm sure the new version will address many if not all the issues with the current version.

according to that site testmy.net is ranked 20856 right now... I noticed that subway.com is on the same page ranked at 20813 -- that's crazy that according to them my site get about the same traffic as Subway! haha, crazy! I noticed because it's on the same page as mine in the rankings.. http://toolbar.netcraft.com/stats/topsites?s=D8281B158226B8F4EE1D0E3C7ED1#20856

hehe, right on

Yeah, the sites rank is getting up there Funny thing is, Alexa says this site is slow "Speed: Slow (63% of sites are faster), Avg Load Time: 2.3 Seconds" haha, that's because they are taking into account the speedtest pages, lol. Also, when you said "with a reach of 42 million users on average each week" -- I wish. hehe, reach is based on on average how many people per million visit a site. If a million internet users were polled it would be found that 42 of them visit this site. Sounds like a low number... but it's really not -- speedguide.net has a reach of 55 and broadbandreports.com has a reach of 285 and we all know how big they are. On the best day I've seen testmy.net was ranked with Alexa at 16,000 -- it was a good day

Actually I could do that.. let me look into that for you...

When is the release of this... is this Longhorn just re-branded??
-
That's a first -- I would like to see that... but I doubt I will be able to find it... guess I will try good 'ol Google

I do have backups -- but for the score database it's really not worth going to the extra effort .. the forum though, I back that up VERY often
-
Repair worked -- everything is great now
-
Okay, the scores database is corrupted... but I am attempting a repair. If unsuccessful I will simply recreate the table and we will start from scratch, it will only take a month to regrow the useable portion anyway. I think a repair may work though, I will keep you all posted.

Damn database errors!! Okay, after researching into the problem I have fixed the problem. The partition on the database server that the database was on was 100% full -- meaning that nothing could be written to the drive, also meaning that I couldn't optimized the tables and get it fixed. It was a real headache because I didn't know for a while why my server wasn't listening to my commands!! But once I noticed the REAL source of the problem I cleaned some backup and logs out and got 'er back in business! Thank you for your patience during this hard downtime, and thank you ALL who emailed me, called me and PM'ed me to let me know about the problem. I would have caught it earlier if I would have known it was actually that bad... normally a simple restart of mySQL will clear a stuck process or what ever... but this problem happened to be deeper than that - Damon Mueller - Owner/Admin

I am done working on this... I will post my findings in a new thread.

Yeah, we have a bunch of members (some I have spoke with) who signed up and have never posted... but have told me they read throughout the site ALL the time. Just because someone doesn't have a post count doesn't mean that they are inactive.

Believe it or not, coming close to 1,000,000 visitors a month

Had a little more downtime due to the database server having a few problems. I am curtain that this is due to the amount of uptime I've had on the servers, I have rebooted both of the servers and everything is back to normal. Sorry for the inconvenience, unfortunately I was away from my desk all morning so I was unaware of the problem till I got back in, next couple of weeks I will make sure to pay extra attention to make sure we don't have anymore errors. - Damon
