I'm currently rewriting the upload speed test, although it's accurate for most people it is displaying results that are too low for some. I have no time estimate on this, but I would imagine it wouldn't take me more than a week to fix this. This error comes after updating some of the servers core software, sometimes updates like that require some minor adjustments to scripts. - Damon

Why results are so different when testing with FireFox and IE

I'm looking into this... -
I can't beleive you actually found yourself on there. I mean Cholla is a pretty common word (it's a cactus for those of you that don't know) and out of the 200,000+ results your profile here at testmy.net resides in the top 20 results for the term "cholla" ~~ pretty crazy php, I would imagine you would have a very hard time finding your username out there (708,000,000 for the term PHP) -- I only found you with "php testmy" and that still returned almost 5K results.

check it out http://aaa.opisnet.com/ ~~ pretty cool tool that AAA put out. I just saw this on the news this morning.

Yeah... mine is all over the place

I'm sick of hearing this... and getting emails on this. Posts are now counted in the off topic discussion. By the way, I have already talked to the mods about what should get moved here... there was some confusion so I reposted the information. This forum should only be posted in either a) by the user or mods can move the topic here if it's completely off topic. Don't worry about the post count deal... it's causing too much argument so that's squashed. We are here to help people and learn... By the way coknuck... I'm not belittling your post or anything. I totally agree, that's why I've taken action. Don't misunderstand my point.

I use templates for the forums... but I have heavily modified them (most mods aren't visual though). The main theme is original and always has been -- though I did have a logo that was made by a user which I found out later that it was a copyrighted logo (I quickly made a new logo once discovering that), I'm not much of a designer I'm more mathematical so I enjoy scripting functionality rather than focusing on the design of the site. When viewing this site... if there is ANYTHING that I did not script myself or have received extensive 3rd party help on I will always list the credits at the bottom of the effected pages. You will notice this on the forum pages and in the news archive. Yeah, I had a large website directly copy portions of my code before I converted it from java to PERL (it's since been reconverted to PHP) -- when it was in it's java state it was easy to copy by viewing source of a few pages. But that's now impossible because it runs server-side and the only thing you see now is what I wantcha to see ~~ it's a bit harder on the server but it takes the stress off the client-side and ensures that only I will get credit for my hard work... the site that took some of my code also took a few of my ideas, I called the webthiefer and he played dumb and hung up on me (this was years ago) -- shortly later the stolen script had been rewritten to hide his dirty deed. It's okay, their site is falling apart now and it's getting very close to being in my shadow now -- they were quite a superpower for a while though. But MANY admin mistakes and bad/lazy decisions are what is making their site decline... I don't mind taking their traffic one bit --- and no it's NOT DSLR ~ they're cool // DSLR is still about 15-20 times bigger than this site. One day... One day...

netmasta's got the right answer to this one today is May 30th avg joining per day -- calculating 1643 joins this month minus todays registrations div by 29 days avg === 55.139 reg/day currently at 9652 memebers need 348 to hit 10000 ((10000 - 9652) / ((1643 - 44) / 29)) = 6.3113 days till we hit 10K members So on the 5th -
I'll work that in -- .s1, if you don't notice the update with-in ... say ... two weeks, remind me

Speed test can't be right - waaaay too fast

I will look into this by Wednesday... and let you know, marking my calender now -
That design was made to maximize browser and resolution compatability. A 600-pixel-wide page wouldn't be able to house the amount of content this site now has, I do want to redesign the site though (but keep the same logo) -- It's on the long to-do list ~ I will let the mods scope it out before I release it

just about right on the money CoW -- how'd ya do that?
-
damn.. I got like 40 at least...

That wasn't code it was a background gif ~~ man, that is so old... there is NO WAY I still have that, lol. That was part of surftohere.com and since I excluded robots (I can't remember why the hell I did that) it's not in webarchive... so... ehhhh.

Well you can have good pings and a bad route Link Quality and Link Speed play roles also. It does appear that your link is okay... here, try this mirror >> https://testmy.net/d_load.php?ni=1&st=st&tt=1&ta=1&top=mirror-xyther&out_src=7MB

they are hard to get started. Hell, I had a website that already had great traffic and it took well over a year to get my first 1000 members... but since January that's grown by 8500 members. It's like a snowball. Good luck.
-
oh yeah... tru dat

If you are getting normal speeds elsewhere it is most likely your route to my servers, it's not on my server end though... I still have many accurate tests logged at over 15 Mbps... look at HaloBox >> https://testmy.net/s_engine.php?type=user_name&q=HaloBox My personal route has done that in the past too, hell lately I can't get over 4.5 Mbps... and I have a 5Mbps line. Just have to wait till your route gets better to testmy.net ;-/
