LOL...no. you have to click 'Start" and "Run" and a box will appear. Type "cmd" in the box and click 'ok'. A DOS box will pop up. After the C: type "ping -f -l 1472 www.testmy.net" and press 'enter'. Post the result.

I just noticed you are from the UK. You are one of 3 people from there who have complained about low test speed at testmy.net in the last 4 days. All of your nitro tests showed a common result. High RWIN setting but with restricted throughput limits. I suspect your country's internet network has slowed because one of 4 core routers is down. Here is the link: http://www.internettrafficreport.com/europe.htm My advise is - do not be stressed about your test results as it is the fault of the network, not your comp setting.

I have attached 2 ccs files above: 513920-128480-1500 256960-64240Ra
-
Are the ccs files any help? The first file make allowance for latency of 250-300 ms. The second for latency of 100-150 ms.
-
Perhaps a network diagnostic test may provide some clue: http://nitro.ucsc.edu/

Try this ping test: ping -f -l 1472 www.testmy.net
-
Here is another. See which gives you better speed.

Try this ccs file.

Try this ccs file.

What brand and model is your modem?
-
click 'Start', 'Run' and a box will appear. Type "cmd" and click ok. A DOS Box will appear. After 'c:' type ping www.testmy.net When ping is finished, after 'c:' type tracert www.testmy.net Copy report and post

passthatdutch, I have messaged you at your original post.
-
Please do a Ping and a Traceroute. I would like to know your latency.

Did you use the TCP Optimizer as shown above and adjust your MTU value?
-
Try and see if this can help. I assume your MTU is 1492. If it is different, then your speed will not be optimum.

"The NDT server has a 101.0 KByte buffer which limits the throughput to 8.00 Mbps Your PC/Workstation has a 62.0 KByte buffer which limits the throughput to 4.97 Mbps The network based flow control limits the throughput to 5.08 Mbps" Somehow, the ccs files did not change your PC buffer to 124 Kbyte or 255 Kbyte, thus your throughput is still limited to about 5 Mbps. I suggest you use the TCP Optimizer as this program can modify your network adaptor. Download at https://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php Open the TCP Optimizer and do the following: General Settings tab: Custom settings - check Modify All Network Adapters - check network adapter selection - your NIC MTU 1500 TTL - 64 TCP Receive Window - 128480 MTU Discovery - Yes Black Hole Detect - No Selective Acks - Yes Max Duplicate ACKs - 2 TCP 1323 Options: Windows Scaling - check Timestamps - uncheck Advanced Settings tab: Max Connections per Server - 10 Max Connections per 1.0 Server - 20 LocalPriority - 5 Host Priority - 6 DNSPriority - 7 NetbtPriority - 8 Lan Browsing speedup - optimized QoS: NonBestEffortLimit - 0 ToS: DisableUserTOSSetting - 0 ToS: DefaultTOSValue - 240 MaxNegativeCacheTtl - 0 NetFailureCacheTime - 0 NegativeSOACache Time - 0 LAN Request Buffer Size - 32768 Then select "Apply Changes" and reboot to take effect

We first have to adjust your MTU to 1500. Go to this link and download the TCP Optimizer: https://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php Open the TCP Optimizer and do the following: General Settings tab: Custom settings - check Modify All Network Adapters - check network adapter selection - your NIC MTU 1500 TTL - 64 TCP Receive Window -blank MTU Discovery - Yes Black Hole Detect - No Selective Acks - Yes Max Duplicate ACKs - 2 TCP 1323 Options: Windows Scaling - uncheck Timestamps - uncheck Advanced Settings tab: Max Connections per Server - 10 Max Connections per 1.0 Server - 20 LocalPriority - 5 Host Priority - 6 DNSPriority - 7 NetbtPriority - 8 Lan Browsing speedup - optimized QoS: NonBestEffortLimit - 0 ToS: DisableUserTOSSetting - 0 ToS: DefaultTOSValue - 240 MaxNegativeCacheTtl - 0 NetFailureCacheTime - 0 NegativeSOACache Time - 0 LAN Request Buffer Size - 32768 Then select "Apply Changes" and reboot to take effect Then retest with https://www.speedguide.net/analyzer.php to confirm your MTU is 1500.

Do the nitro test again and post: http://nitro.ucsc.edu/

This is a bigger ccs file.
-
Download the Cablenut Adjuster from www.cablenut.com and try this ccs file.
-
What are your subscribed speed for download and upload?
-
Have a goodnight. I too have to go offline now. Bye.
-
amc11890, what do you think? I am not in the US so I do not know if the subscribed speed is right. If subscribed speed is 1.5 Mbps, my ccs file will have the RWIN set too large.
-
You subscribed speed is 1.5/384 Mbps or 3.0/384 Mbps?
