  1. Just to confirm Just's post about freedom of the UK press , we have a long tradition in the UK have freedom of speech , and that includes the news , but maybe we have good editors , if you keep pumping out the same old crap , you loose the public , I agree with Shug 's in his post #7 , except I think the public have the right to know , what is going on , but presented in a responsible manner
  2. I had an outage about 30 mins back , no page etc maybe a problem from the UK ?
  3. the UK's problem is in the set up between the ISP and BT , and you end up like the tennis ball at a Wimbledon final , <.....> <.....> end of the line comment from BT is the phone lines were not designed for broadband only voice , so be gratefull for what you get , yes it is grim that the 8mb complaint threshold is around 1.5 Mb , certainly keep records of tests , I had a 256Kbps BB plan with pipex , I upgraded to 8mb MAX, and got near on what I expected 2MBps , so I gave them some grief , and they reduced the price down to my original 256Kb price , so it is worth complaining , BTW, I am 2.3 Km from the exchange , straight line ,
  4. Interesting find wycolo, I guess I will take a rain check on my next puter build again , things sure are changing fast these days
  5. Who or what ? Has had the biggest influence on your life to date, assuming this could change in the future , I am still thinking this one out , but 9-11 figures high on my list ,
  6. yeah I have built a few , but not anymore , I send customers of to the local superstore , and then laugh when they have problems with Norton /toolbars etc. , same as me Starship , I got 3 Dell laptops , gathering dust , but as they are freebies I aint complainng , I lend them out to first timers , none of them will run for more than 20 mins on battery ,
  7. indeed it is starship T, the way I look at buying is why is he selling , if the computer is that good , why does he want to sell it ?, most 1 generation back computers are just that , and wont sell to nerds , and are too expencive for average folk , who only use e-mail , word and internet for ticket buying etc. ,. the main value to me is the o/s and office disks , Laptops are a pain in the ass , 9/10 need a new battery pack , and anyone that realy needs a laptop will buy a new one anyway ,
  8. the only way in my view is to test the market , go for the price you want , and see what happens , funny enough I can sell a average Dell/Hp easier than a better custom built puter in the UK ,
  9. I hope so Mudmance , for that is a truly crippling disease , and a miserable condition to live with, it has been around for thousands of years , still without a cure , it's an odd world , we can walk on the moon , but not cure the common cold even ,
  10. Hi Shawnb , wellcome to TMN forum , and wellcome to the world of B.T. adsl , keep us posted on your progress , but I fear you are like me, one of millions in the UK , that only get the average of 2Mbps on their UP TO 8 Mbps plan , the pic is a record of my UK test over 4 weeks , note I nearly hit 3Mbps for a day or two , and was toying with the idea of fitting car seat belts to my computer chair like you I am happy enough with the speed , (1.9Mbps average ) and my ISP Pipex .com has be very reliable over the past 2 years , only one outage due to B.T. upgrading the local exchange (Molesy S.W. London ) , not that it made any differance to my speed ,
  11. Artificial bones created from an inkjet By ELEANOR MAYNE - Last updated at 22:27pm on 14th April 2007 Scientists are creating artificial bones using a modified version of an inkjet printer. The technology creates perfect replicas of bones that have been damaged and these can then be inserted in the body to help it to heal. The process will revolutionise bone graft surgery, which currently relies on either bits of bone taken from other parts of the body or ceramic-like substitutes. more at - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=448654&in_page_id=1770&in_a_source=

    Business question

Hi Kamil , I was thinking on the lines of you sell a product , the buyer gets injured using it , you get sued as the supplier for 1/2 Mil. $ USD , I cant be more specific than that as UK law is very different to the USA, I still sounds s viable scheme though ,

    Business question

Hi Kamil 234 , sounds like a good low cost start up biz , if it don't sell you can use the stock anyway , but given the proximity of the field and local players , you should do ok , the downside, you may upset the local stockists , so watch the legal/tax side of things , watch very carefully the legall responsibility , try and get some good advice on that , Good luck

  17. Hi rw , and wellcome to the forum , that is an interesting point you made there , why are we in Iraq ?, apart from humanitarian reasons , there are plenty of other places in the world that have mega problems but unfortunately for them very little oil , is itTerrorism , ? it seems strange to me there are other hotbeds on terrorism that we are turning a blind eye too , as long as they keep pumping the oil , I don't think you have to fear the Euro , it isn't popular in Europe , and not used in the UK , after all it is just another way of bean counting, Regards Roco UK
  18. YO-YO dieting puts your health at risk and leaves you more overweight, a study has found. US researchers found people typically lose between five per cent and 10 per cent of their weight during the first six months of a diet. But more than two thirds of fad dieters pile the pounds straight back on, putting themselves in danger of heart attack, stroke and type 2 diabetes. Researchers from The University of California warn that the strain of losing and gaining weight puts strain on the body and most people are better not dieting at all. ........................................................................................ Cpt.Bonnick - hauled off a passenger flight in handcuffs just minutes before he was due to fly the jet from Heathrow to New York - "It's thought he was on a strict diet - a side-effect of severe dieting is it can make your breath smell strange, almost as if you've been drinking." A spokesman for Virgin Atlantic said: "His sample has come back negative and so there is no action being taken. The results show he was completely clean and police confirm no action is being taken." Well that's good news, I think I will have another burger ! , as I wouldn't want to put my health at risk quotes from UK press
  19. Hi bryanlautt The figs.I qouoted , was for USD $ , as we use
  20. Hi bryanlautt , not a good start to the Easter break , how doe's the workmans comp. work in the USA ? do you get an average working weeks pay ? most UK large firms , pay the full amount for 6 months, and if you are not fit for work by then you get fired , so you sue them if the accident happened at work , Traditionally the UK Easter break involves driving to visit kin , but with petrol at $7.50 Gal , most folks stayed at home and had a BQ with friend,s

  23. Sorry |Buntz and thanks Just , I guess the Englsh/Ameruican fell apart there , yes I was asking is it easy to use for a novice /newbie , as my group that I suport are a bit basic , I have only just got them off of Norton and on to Grisofts AVG , so the firewall must be easy to use ,
