  1. I wish I had that option , I got called in today to walk to the post office for some post stamps (4 Miles return trip ), then take the directors car to the car wash , they are using my Tech skills to the limit ! but as long as they keep paying $35 an hour , I can walk as slow as the next guy, +I got $10 lunch allowance for the walk , on a beautifull spring day here in the UK , Btw I had a had a chocalate cake and a coffee for desserts , while idling the time I realized desserts spelled backwords = stressed . nah I dont think so . This job was found in heaven for me , and back home by 11.30 am ,

  6. always been my problem , but then I type like a woodpecker with a hangover anyway , lol "set it to the side" goes against the grain with me , if any thing breaks I will not leave it be , I guess that is part of my lifetime fixing things , I just got to get it working , even if I throw it in the garbage can after , lol Paladin 2 finger typing , I would apply for a sectaries job if I could do that , and learn to spell , otherwise no chance of the job ,I guess the legs would not be up to it either
  7. 1. A short slender implement with a sharp point and small round head, usually made of stainless steel, for fastening, attaching, etc, and used especially in dressmaking. colloq Very readily; if given the smallest reason or encouragement, etc. Example: For two pins, I would come with you mind you two pints sounds better , Example: For two pints, I would come with you, for 2 pins, is an old English saying still used today the humble dressmaking pin was very valuable back then , and not ownend by the poor , women and children worked at very low rates of pay , and used it to buy pins for making their own clothes, and a pin was a treasured item, if you had 2 pins you were upwardly mobile , the rich ownend many pins , and fancy pin cusions , but they would lock them away from the servants , the first written articale refering to the value of pins , ( by a wit of the day ) was ,"There's Pin-money, and Ali-money," first written in 1690 , so not a lot changes IMO
  8. Yes it could work out ok, But the best way would to format and reinstall , the main point is has he got the Win O/S disk or has the hard drive got the O/S preinstalled , if so Microsoft may not help , and send you to the computer makers , if you contact them they wont help either as you have modified it , I would not personaly risk buying without owning the disk and licence key ,or at least factoring in the cost of buying it this is assuming he is runnig a Microsoft O/S Btw, I have taken a dozen or so hard drives from laptops (old Sony Vaio's, no disk drive ) hooked them up as a single drive "C" on a spare desktop computer , formated and reloaded the O/S and all the progs needed , put the drive back in the laptop without any major problems ,

  18. You may well be right Peepn.& Shugs but it ain't going to happen overnight , maybe 20-50 years , and the new order will be China IMHO , but as a UK Cit. and I hope I know you guys well enough , the shift of power wont be a walkover , maybe a slow decline over a 100 years or so , Hunger ,and not just for food, is a powerfull tool , the West has grown soft , we have had it all , the UK faded a long time ago , America was the new star, and climbed to the top, by hunger and hard work , then sat back on it's laurels ,as Rome did many years back , BTW glad to see the vote for TMN bucks is climbing , anyone want to buy my share ,

  25. Hi grandpa , yeah, on call 24 hrs , the only cure for this I guess is to is to start charging , I got caught in this trap working for a charity for the elderly , and bless them they passed on my contact number to all , but in all fairness it has been a good learning curve for me , and a pay back for all the good things I have gained from computers and the internet , like TMN etc. and friends from around the world , how do you put a price on that ?
