Like i said all it took was a simple misunderstanding and this topic now has 3 pages of fighting. Its not like none of the people here gave you false information. In the first couple of posts we clearly told you that your speeds were either cached or you needed to take a different speed test to show your true speed. Some of the posts that accuse it of being false right out, have a good right to say it because we see this day in and day out. I can understand if every post rudely told you your test was false and didnt offer any help but before it got out of hand i believe the people here respectfully told you what to do and what could be causing it

Even if the tests were cached and he didnt relize it, or some sort of other application caused his false speed to be reported as that high its not the first time we've had cache claimers saying they have such high speeds. Perhaps when someone makes a cache report it should be moved to a subforum because all it takes is a few people and a simple misunderstanding to turn into a conflict. Maybe someone can write a quick topic and sticky it about cached speed tests because although he might have known it was a false speed test from the start, there will be others that wont have a clue.

Wow thx alot for all the info guys. I dont plan on raiding but for 6$ the floppy isnt much of a burden. Having never experienced XP i didnt know how to go about installing it on a OEM drive. After thinking about it ive decided to try and spend an extra 50$ and get this ram, its got 0 bad reviews and only a couple had to RMA it http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820146890 With that said im going to stick with the 7600GT unless i can find a good sale on a 7900, if i ever needed to get a better video card i can either sell this or buy another 7600 being only 200$ its not that much to get sli going. Is there any sites that might give demonstrations on computer building, more specificly videos. I really want to cover all basis before building this thing whether what i need to do to prep myself before building and if problems should occur.

The mobo is kinda expensive and it puts me over my 1200$ budget. The ram is pretty solid but im thinking about G.Skill. and as for a replacment mobo im thinking about Gigabyte Pro Sli board. My other question is related to overclocking. Im pretty sure i know enough but i want to make sure. To overclock i would need to turn the fsb up in the bios and then set the clock multiplier to make it 2.4. So would i turn the fsb to 240 and then set the multiplier to 10? also if the fsb is 240 or more will it effect my ram being as its pc3200 and should i just buy higher clocked ram? Any suggestions on other parts are welcomed. I really want to learn everything before i start building to avoid any problems.

i did a little tweak before i re-tested, my internets really acting up =/ i dunno whats wrong but seems to have improved either from my tweak or urs. i almost broke 700 but it went down at the last second, and the upload is still hitting my cap

its kinda funny ur 350 amd has the same ammount of ram as my main computer. Main comp specs: Intel p3 1.1ghz 256mb pc133 64mb pc100 fx 5200 gpu it gets the job done though, i wanna build or order my new comp so bad i wish i had a credit card

Ya im about to finish up on the 266 comp, just need to install windows. Should have some screens in 1-2 days. For now heres the specs. Amd 266 MHz cpu Samsung 6GB hdd Asus sp97-v Mobo (see picture) 47 Ram using 4 SIMM slots <<< nobody has those i win lol Onboard video has 3 ISA slots << dont think ne one has em either My network card has this wierd circle port, at first i thought it was a coaxil input but its not. And my keyboard needs a special adapter because the mobo doesnt have a ps/2 port

even though u partitioned and reinstalled windows maybe you can try this if u want to, i have a dell and my restore cd gives the same error every time i reformat. Ive had the computer about 6 years and ive done about 4-5 formats and every time it says Press something to retry or press something to fail or restart. and ive found that if you hold down the fail or retry key, after about 8 consecutive tries it starts the format. This could just be something defective with my disk, but anythings worth a shot.

Not knowing anything about Maple but, have u tried making a new account and logging into a different server or using a different account and logging into the same server. Also is there any hacking on maple?, i remember in diablo 2 and MU there were programs that allowed people to flood and drop users from the server or game. Did this start happening randomly or has it been an ongoing problem. Was there any major changes you made to ur comp prior to noticing the problem?

ya i noticed during the installation, it told me a few of my files were being replaced by older ones, so i check dont replace on a few and i recall seeing my mouse driver. There is also no complete uninstall of the pack, i read on the site but it seems to be running real smooth and i havent gotten any errors all day. Soon ill have my other pc up and running thx to Jeffwalker .. he is THE MAN!! cholla ur the man too lol, if you guys didnt help me the other pc would be still sitting in my closet thx guys

man 1000$ can buy me my new computer.. the laser is sick though .. but 1k$ is alot of money. Am i missing somethign or is there more applications to this laser thing other than popping some balloons and setting stuff on fire cause i set stuff on fire all the time lol

Ok i installed Tune up utilities 2006 and did a scan and fix, and the defragged and recreated my registry. .. and i worked up enough courage to restart. Booted up fine and worked like a charm. the only explanation i can think of is either the TU2006 fixed a problem in the registry that the update caused, or the Service pack screwed up my drivers and all it took was a reinstall of the originals.. So everything seems to be fine, and even though the service pack caused me an hour or so of grief.. it did speed things up a bit.

Glad to hear you got it installed. Congratz First tell us your ISP and ur advertised speeds. Then post a few tests results and see if you need some help

i need serious help =/ i downloaded this Win98SE service pack http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Unofficial_Windows_98_SE_Service_Pack/1083536650/1 it seemed to help boost memory performance and my resources werent as taken up as usually. But i notice im testing a little low, about 6.6 i normally get 7.5 - 8 down. So i put a cablenut setting in and restart the comp. it gives me 5 megs.. so i switch back to the other setting and im back at 7.4 But now comes the problem... in the middle of posting a thread about the above situation, my mouse randomly failed and the cursor on the desktop just sat there, BUT i was able to control the mouse but couldnt see the cursor .. quite wierd... so i restarted the comp. When i restarted for some reason it ran in 16 bit color, 640x480.. so i went to change it to my normal 32bit 1024x768 and restarted. Then after the windows screen it just stops. and doesnt load windows. So i restart into safe mode, scan and find nothing. I restart again and now it says with an error msg there seems to be something wrong with my display adaptor. I have never had a problem with it, and ive had it for almost 4 years. its a 4x agp fx 5200. So after like 30 restarts i manage to get back into windows and i load up the default drivers that came with the card. Then after about 20 more restarts the computer finally lets windows loads and of course it freezes again .. but 1 more restart and it accepts the drivers and thats where im at now. Im scared to restart again or change res's I have a reformat disk, but not an OS disk.. and i really dont feel like formatting because id have to save a bunch of data. Is there anything i can download that would put me back before the update.. short of using a full OS install disk

do u see ur "Regular Phone Line Connection" .. thats a a pci card .. so u can connect to dial up over phone line... since u dont need that .. take it out and put a network card in. OPEN ur comp you have PCI slots

well maybe you dont have to get a new computer if your just gonna play 1.6. #1 What are your comp specs #2 What rates in CS are you using Do you have any money at all for small upgrades? and how old are you, why not get a job for a month?

well good luck with ur comp plan, hope u get a new one i usally float around with my clan into pubs.. i play on dertySouth server sometimes..and my clan server is Clan Trepidation's 24/7 Dust2 .. should be up 24/7 in 2-3 weeks im off to bed .. glad to help someone .. even though its for bad intentions lol

disconnecting hardware could prove fatal for this kid, as he cant find a simple dll file lol.. i wouldnt even recommend him opening his comp let alone touching it. Btw i play 1.6 ^^ [Trp] HeLLFiRe

hey Dilated or someoen with XP can u post the path to get to File Types so you can change file extentions. ive been up for almost 26 hours straight lol i dont feel like looking it up.. im sure its close to the one i posted above
