crazy. thats how my stock cooler is on my current single core athlon 2.4ghz but with the order through newegg for the 5600+ im just using the stock cooler for the time. and i'll see if i need a new one. honestly the reason i wanted to order them all at once is because im not 18 so i can't legally order anything. so i give my mom money for the stuff and she orders it. but i convinced her to let me order a heatsink if i needed it. so im good. but i hope i dont have to order one now. because then i'll have to clean the paste off of my cpu then put new on and its a pain. but thanks for your answers i have that cpu cooler you mentioned (coknuck) bookmarked. so if i need a cooler i'll buy that one.

yeah, well i am curious because my cousin has a 2.8ghz 5600+ and his heatsink is noisy...his case has less airflow than mine but would it honestly make that much difference?

that looks nice. but my case is "inverted" so that the psu is at the bottom with the 140mm fan on it facing up to my cpu and gfx card. which is why i have 3x 120mm fans and a side air vent.and heatsinks on my ram modules. my only concern is that its facing something to send the hot air from the cpu to another component other than the exhaust fan. but i will def. keep that one in mind thanks coknuck

Welcome to tmn. ok. you want to know how to speed test here? Up at the top of the page it says "download test" and "upload test" ...click on one of those, then on the next page click on "smartest" if you don't know what file size to use. and it tests for you.

i have a case with a side air vent (huge one that sucks dust like none other) and 3 different 120mm fans in my case. so i clean mine alot also. and with stock cooler, my amd athlon 64 3800+ 2.4ghz runs around 33C under load and 25C idle.

i agree with you. amd all the way for me. yeah dlewis, i can see your point, but since i've gone to amd i will never go back to intel until they bring something i will pay their prices for. and so far i've gotten just as good performace out of amd for cheaper than with intel who has higher prices. i dont want to start an arguement though so im leaving this thread after i post this comment.
