This is not a speedtest! (RE:beelinebandwidthtest.com)
TriRan replied to VanBuren's topic in General Discussion
just a tad, i am refraining from posting it up to much haha -
i agree the 6770 is a nice card over the 6670 but if your not going to be gaming or running 3D Max and photoshop i don't think there is really a need to spend the extra money except to have peace of mind.

yeah they say LTE has a max of around 55Mbps i imagine you'd have to be sitting on the cell site to reach 90% of that lol i usually get around 10-20Mbps at a mile and a half from the tower -
spec's look nice man especially for only $800, i'd have a hard time building that for only $800... does it include a monitor aswell?
-
we're going to need a few specifics before we can even attempt to help you, what type of connection do you have? Cable, DSL, satellite? try doing a few tests while logged into your account so we can see where your at (speed wise). andddddd are you located inside or outside the US? ~ TriRan

TriRan replied to jkmccormic's topic in Ideas to make testmy.net better?
Haha I don't even know where one would start for coding something like that or if it can be done but it is a good idea -

Hi there mmacdona, Welcome to testmy.net. i don't have much experience with VPN's however if data is passing to or from your PC through your VPN it will take away from your connections bottom line, whatever that may be. for example if your uploading any information through the VPN and only have 1Mbit upload you will see a serious performance hit depending on how fast that file is leaving your network it could entirely monopolize your connection. i hope someone with more experience in VPN's will chime in ~ TriRan

How about adding Ping testing
TriRan replied to jkmccormic's topic in Ideas to make testmy.net better?
i agree i've actually been wanting something like this for a while too, i just keep forgetting to ask about it. i think some sort of trace and or ping options with the stats being logged would be awesome so you can not only see what your ping is but what it has been in the past for comparison -
yeah i forgot all about it lol so when he said auto test i immediately thought of the smart test >.<
-
doh i totally blocked that whole part of the site out >.<

Welcome to testmy.net, i think this might be what your looking for. once you run a few tests, you can run the Express Test, which will use an optimium test size based off your previous tests. ~ TriRan

lol it probably would but gosh if it was even available i'd have no problem paying for symmetrical 100Mbps that they offer for only 50 dollars more than we pay now
-
lol i know! heck! i'd even split it with my neighbors i doubt they would even utilize 10% btw it's symmetrical *drools more*

actually all the times i've not had flash installed it just comes up as a blank object even if i tap on it, it won't do anything
-
very true it was nice while it lasted but 50Mbps over 100MB from 2500 miles away is win imo

i do have flash playing the video... i'm not using an iphone or a blackberry it doesn't launch the video in a video player or the youtube app... it loads up flash right in my browser and plays the video and then states this video is not optimized for mobile use
-
Actually I don't use the youtube app I go to the webpage. I think your assuming everyone does what you do however your points are still valid
