  1. must be a westcoast server, latency killing my speed VanBuren

  3. the type of connection dosent matter much for latency the only diff between fiber and dsl/cable is the ping to first hop. the rest is how good the ISP routing is and where you live. i ping my gateway with 0 to 1 ms, if i was on dsl it would probl be around 3 to 5ms that means if i have a latency against a certain site of 80ms, i would get 83 to 85 ms with dsl ISP routing affects more VanBuren
  4. my old pc was almost the same as yours but i had a FX5900 Ultra, it could handle most games, Far Cry i runned smooth on medium settings, im pretty sure it was my CPU slowing me down. I suggest you just add 512 MB more ram, get a second hand Radeon 9800 Pro or a Fx5900 Ultra, and maybe overclock that CPU, you may need some extra cooling then with that you should manage to play new games even tho you might need to adjust details to offload the CPU By the way Gainward overclock pretty well http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=1489033 Description Live at DreamHack // Gainward 7800GTX 512MB SLI cooled by Overklokk dual evap cascade (built with only two compressors to handle GTX512) // LN2+Mousepot Cooled FX-57 @ 3928MHz // 2x512 Corsair XMS3200LL BH-5 // DFI NF4 SLI-DR // OCZ 600W SLI PSU // Many thanks to our firends at TechSweden.org Display Information Graphics Chipset NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX Driver Name NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX Driver Version 8.1.9.5 Driver Status WHQL - FM Approved Video Memory 512 MB Core Clock 779 MHz Memory Clock 2052 MHz VanBuren

  15. you know i had the very same problem myself, getting cached results from main server. I had to uninstall norton internet security, didnt work with my router. Its looking good, since its not like 50 Mbps then you can suspect a cached score. to make sure post some scores from flatfile test http://www.testmy.net/o-000 Edit: also test speed against some dslr servers, your speed would pawn compared to the rest http://www.dslreports.com/archive/btcentralplus.com i suggest these eastcoast servers, should be best oversea http://speedtest.cogeco.net/ http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ or the nac server, but then you need to register at dslreports and browse to http://www.dslreports.com/stest VanBuren
  16. call them now please dont post anymore unreal scores VanBuren
  17. hey RedGecko and welcome to the forum what speed are you paying for? Since your overseas nothing less then 50 Mbps right? i think you know that score is not real, my guess your on ntl 2 Mbps package "NOTE: If you have download accelerators such as the Google Web Accelerator please turn them OFF before testing. - For the Google Web Accelerator click on the speedometer icon in your browser or taskbar and click "Stop Google Web Accelerator" - clicking "Don't accelerate this website" may still 'cause results to be incorrect. Also note that results from tests taken with accelerators DO NOT represent faster than normal speeds but are simply 100% false cached results. Accelerators DO NOT speed up download speed, only browsing speed! In my opinion these programs do more harm than good and I personally would not allow it on my own system. -Damon" VanBuren
  18. choose MSS 1460 thats for cable VanBuren
  19. start-run-regedit-file-export-save but i suggest you only open cablenut and if you see values in the fields, type them down or save the settings as a .ccs file if you dont see any values, then your using windows default and wont need to backup, cos cablenut can easy restore windows default settings by just clicking "delete cablenut tweaks" and click save to registry+ reboot VanBuren
