1. Sorry I couldn't be of more help falco. I thought for sure that your system might be suffering from what's known as the "Logon - Logoff loop". I guess not. Maybe someone else can offer a better solution.
2. Maybe not the factory clocked board, but the HIS version sure is. It lead by some pretty significant margins. The extra pixel pipelines makes it hard to beat. 12 pipes compared to 24 pipes w/ awesome clocks... X3: Reunion: While the 3Dmark2006 testing was very close, the Radeon X1650XT opened up on the GeForce 7600GT totally destroying it in the X3: Reunion test. The 1024x768 resolution showed a 38% performance advantage favoring the X1650XT, which then turned into a 48% performance advantage by the time 1600x1200 was reached. Far Cry: Far Cry also favored the Radeon X1650XT. Although the margins were still quite large, they were not as extreme as those seen in X3: Reunion. With FSAA 2x + Aniso 8x enabled the X1650XT delivered 50.2fps at 1600x1200, making it 15% faster than the 7600GT. Turning up the quality settings to FSAA 4x + Aniso 16x blew the margin out to 39%, giving the X1650XT yet another easy win over the 7600GT. F.E.A.R: F.E.A.R is a game that works best on high-end hardware, as you really must sacrifice quite a few of the impressive visual settings to run this game smoothly on a mid-range system. As you can see, maximum in-game quality settings were too much for these graphics cards and I am sure the added strain of FSAA and Anisotropic filtering were not helping. With FSAA 4x + Aniso 16x enabled at 1024x768 the X1650XT was 32% faster than the 7600GT.
3. Well, you wouldn't want the Radeon 9250. Trust me.
4. You'll see an improvement with either card. I just like the image quality of the ATI's X1K series over Nvidia's GeForce 7 series. Now, on the other hand, Nvidia's GeForce 8 series is a force to reckoned with. No. That card is not just as good. It has like a RV300 core which is very old. It's not even close to what Nos7667 has now. Plus, it has to be PCI-E. Edit: It has a RV280 core. http://ati.amd.com/developer/vendorid.html
5. It's too bad that it has to be an Nvidia card. In the price range of the 7600GT you posted, the X1650XT would produce much better image quality/performance. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161049 http://www.techspot.com/review/31-radeon-x1650xt-vs-geforce-7600gt/
6. If the above doesn't work, try the following steps: Logon - Logoff loop, also caused by BlazeFind Another critical symptom caused by this malware: This malware modifies the Userinit area in the registry (replacing the userinit.exe with wsaupdater.exe) and Ad-Aware (with a particular definition update) removes the wsaupdater.exe file from the system, thus causing the Logon - Logoff loop. That is, when you login to Windows, the 'loading personal settings" verbose will appear, but suddenly it will logoff. This issue was documented clearly by Lavasoftusa in it's Lavahelp Knowledgebase. Here is the solution to the logon - logoff issue in Windows XP. Enter the Recovery Console Boot the system using the Windows XP CD-ROM. In the first screen when the Setup begins, read the instructions press "R" (in the first screen) enter the Recovery Console. Type-in the built-in Administrator password to enter the Console. You'll see the prompt reading C:Windows (Or any other drive-letter where you've installed XP) Type the following command and press Enter. CD SYSTEM32 (If that does not work, try CHDIR SYSTEM32) COPY USERINIT.EXE WSAUPDATER.EXE Quit Recovery Console by typing EXIT and restart Windows. You'll be able to login successfully as you've created the wsaupdater.exe file (now, a copy of userinit.exe) Now, change the USERINIT value in the registry (see Phase II in this page) and change it accordingly.

Phase II - Fixing a registry entry which causes the Quick Launch issue (not retaining the settings) Click Start, Run and type REGEDIT. Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft WindowsNT CurrentVersion Winlogon In the right-pane, change the value of Userinit to "C:WINDOWSsystem32userinit.exe," Type the above value exactly as given, including the comma - exclude the quotes. Also, change the path to userinit.exe appropriately if Windows is installed in a different drive. Close Registry Editor and restart Windows. The Quick Launch settings should be retained now. 7. When you've rebooted your machine, pressed F8, and are at the "Safe Mode" selection screen, you should also see a choice titled "Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)". Select that option to boot. Post back and let me know if you were able to log in successfully.
8. Cheap memory and single processors bite the bullet in the ratings department. Maybe I can get Beyonce' to "Upgrade Me".
9. The news doesn't stay on the front page very long. It's so easy to miss. It would be great if News postings listed under Recent Discussion once they drop from the top 5.
10. I enjoy seeing them back. There's a news article here : Commodore's Gaming PCs Revealed
11. I voted for Active Virus Shield by AOL as it doesn't seem to miss a beat. It ranks right on par with the best AV on the market (Kaspersky), and has proved its credibility when up against some of the most malicious viruses. Real world testing shows that. See here: http://www.virus.gr/english/fullxml/default.asp?id=82&mnu=82 If I wasn't using Kaspersky Internet Security, I'd have Active Virus Shield on my system for protection. You can get a free firewall elsewhere.

14. I'm in the market for a great pair of 5.1 surround sound headsets. I've narrowed the field down to a couple of choices. First is the MANHATTAN Personal Cinema 5.1 by IC. This headset is of particular interest because of its USB connectivity, Digital DTS 5.1 Surround Sound, and Dolby Digital AC-3 decoding. With 8 individual speakers (4 per ear), it supposedly delivers the best experience in 5.1 gaming & movies. It's also the second version of this setup as the prior offering didn't have an amplified sound device. However, this set is older than the next candidate. See links below for additional information/reviews. Product page Review Where I'm planning to buy Second choice is the X-52 Surround Sound Headphones by Turtle Beach (built specifically for PC). It is not to be confused with the Ear Force X1/X2's for the consoles & PC. This headset is a new release. The specs claim True 5.1 surround sound from 8 speakers as well. It lacks an included amplifier, which costs extra. It also doesn't have USB connectivity, which means that I will need to either unplug my current setup or purchase four 3.5mm Stereo Y Splitter Cables. I'm prepared to do so for great sound quality. The upside to not using USB is the fact that you don't have to switch between sound devices or unplug anything whenever you want to listen to your original speakers. See links below for additional information. I couldn't find any reviews. Product page Where I'm planning to buy Other considerations: The LTB Magnum True 5.1 USB/3.5mm Surround Headphones w/Mic also seems to be a great choice. Product page Review Decent price at Tiger Direct: here There is also the Zalman ZM-RS6F+M (Reviews all over the net). Product page Decent price at Tiger Direct: here The above headsets are within a comfortable price range. I don't think I'm prepared to spend any higher (than $69.99), unless they're really worth it.

16. You can't have more than one cable modem connected to the internet at one time using Comcast (on the same account). In you case, by having an entirely separate account, there shouldn't be an issue. This will ensure that each modem is operating at full speed individually.
17. Love it...not too colorful...easy to read...just right! Thxz. Happy holidays!
18. Oh well. The lines were around the end of the building when I arrived. It only took 35 minutes to make it into the store (so many people had been in already), but the LCM-22W2 was gone. Employees said there were only around 10 per store or something like that.
19. I'm camping out starting at midnight to get one of those myself. It's the main item I want, but I'm sure that I won't be able to resist grabbing a few more things.
20. Happy B-Day just. /happy_bday.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':bday:' />:' /> Have a great time and be safe man.

22. Wow! That could have easily turned into a serious problem had it not been detected. Good thing you tried it out. Kaspersky is the number one antivirus in the world. I'm happy it didn't turn into just another overrated program after it's popularity skyrocketed (e.g. Norton, McAfee). It's still uses the best methods for handling threats, and that's all that really counts. Being that Active Virus Shield uses the same engine, the protection will be top notch as well. The footprint that it leaves on the system is very light. Only two processes.
23. Active Virus Shield is also a great AV solution. It's based on Kaspersky's latest engine and it's free. Don't let the AOL name scare you away. It does very well against the most hostile Viruses/Trojans. Get it here: Active Virus Shield See where it ranked during testing here: Virus GR (15-25 August 2006) If I wasn't using a beta version of Kaspersky which works best with Windows XP Professional x64 and needed a free solution, I would use Active Virus Shield. It's impressive.
24. What is the best router for connection teaming? I'm interested in combining two seperate cable conections into one.
