  1. Yeah that would be entertaining..
  2. weighs like 30 lbs and you have to bring your own nuclear reactor to power it.. Nice specs!
  3. The duo is a dual core moble processor.. I would agree.. the x2 is a nicer chip but you are going to give up alot of battery life if you decide to go with sager (9750)..
  4. http://www.ganjatron.net.nyud.net:8090/misc/scanjet/scanjet-elise2.mpg Nothing new.. but still cool as hell.. If you are interested here is the original website who found the "hack" http://www.ganjatron.net/misc/scanjet/scanjet.html http://www.hackaday.com/entry/1234000880073478/
  5. haha yeah a little wierd but it looked like it worked pretty well.. I wonder what it smelled like.. They should have used a Prescott.. then tried to overclock it.. that would have been a sweet story..
  6. Tomhardware is running this story/article.. http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/01/09/strip_out_the_fans/ Basically an FX-55 cooled by 8 gallons of vegetable oil.. Completely silent
  7. That is pretty quick... i get about 1.5 here at purdue..
  8. dual core vs. single core.. It is basically the next gen for centrino. The dell system looks really nice... Sager like wingzero also makes great gaming laptops.. The other place that you want to check out is Alienware.. They have released some affordable laptops that get some good battery life and also game pretty well... They are now in the government and home market instead of just the gaming/high end.
  9. did you give him the hard drive?? Most of the new drives ship cable select as the default.. so that people dont have to mess with it.
  10. on the back of the hard drive.. there are right next to the molex plug in for power.. Check the manufacture's website for the correct settings.. or just post the manufacture and we can get you the correct settings..
  11. If they are cable select you dont have to worry about slave/master.. Which is nice when you are trying a drive for the first time..
  12. You are going to have to reformat the hard drive if you want to use it most likely.. As long as it is working you can add it to your system with not problems... Just make sure that the jumpers are on cable select and you should be fine. There is no problems with running multiple hard drives on one system.
  13. How much power do you need? You might want to check out this article.. http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/07/11/stress_test/index.html The only thing that I would be careful of would be if you are going to put this computer in a small space you need to make sure that you have enough ventilation so that it doesnt overheat..
  14. Hahaha.. yeah you could start with that.. then add in the $1000+ for the 8 gig of memory.. I dont know how much of an improvement that is over the original board that it was designed to replace..http://tyan.com/products/html/tomcati7230a.html
  15. yeah... missed that part of it.. even at that you are still going to have to configure it locally before it can be used on the network..
  16. doesnt look like you can take the motherboard plugs from the motherboard an stick them on the sounds card...
  17. Netgear can be picky... I know that Comcast was installing netgear for a short period of time when the service first came out... I had a friend who decided to allow the "pros" to install it and not buy it himself. However, I do believe they are now using Linksys gear..
  18. Yeah but the Server is going to have to be windows xp pro.. Home edition will not work. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/mobility/getstarted/remoteintro.mspx
  19. Yeah.. It look like linksys released a new one for the v.1 series that supports WPA.. however, the release docs for the v.2 stuff sucks.. I am not sure if the new drivers support WPA or not. I would try the new drivers and see. I know for a fact that they will not support WPA2 at all.. So you will be stuck with WPA-PSK. Which isnt a bad thing. I am not sure why you would want to run AES on a home network...
  20. another great site..
  21. They might be crap.. but hey it is more than what we had before.. It looks if you want to run all of the bells and whistles you are going to need a fairly new machine.
  22. http://www.drivers.net/ free.. after you register.. they have drivers for just about everything...
  23. MS email all of the vendors at CES with some more specific requirement for the next generation of their windows os...
  24. firefox has a memory leak.. it was to be fixed in 1.5 but it doesnt seem like that happened.. I think there are some people looking in to it.. but yeah.. it doest take more memory than ie to launch.. If you are just looking at processes.
  25. Shug.. does that work for SP2? I thought that is was part of sp2 that you had to have IE6 no matter what.
