Well is looks like it has 4xagp.. so if that is the motherboard then you could upgrade.. which would allow you use some of the most advanced graphic cards. What is your budget?

What motherboard model do you have? That will determine whether or not upgrading your current setup is worth the money.. The 1800+ is a decent chip.. I have the 2000+ and still use it as my main desktop.

their could be to much lag or if she has a firewall that might have blocked it. I would check the firewall log when you get back and see if there is an attack registered. 56k isnt going to be much fun anyways.. the lag is going to make you really angry..

:haha: Umm.. that could be just a little bit of a problem. She is going to have to go to this site every time she signs on to the internet. whatismyip.com and either email you her ip address or call you. Once she signs off the ip address will change. This will also not connect if she is offline. I would guess it is not going to be an enjoyable experience on 56k..

that is really strange!! Ethernet is good up to like 300ft runs...maybe this is an underpowered gateway or something. Well atleast you found out what was causing the problem. It also could have been the cable itself. Glad it is working!

depends on if the program supports HT or not.. It is possible that HT can slow down the program also.

I have not heard about any type of encyption from microsoft.. I know that it does have WAP and some linking feature that allows you to link the stupid things wirelessly. The speeds speak the truth.. You wont see it.. it is about 5%..and that is in games most of the time.. that or video editing. You are more then welcome to disable it but you will not see any increase or decrease in performance.

Yes that is possible.. the real question is why would you not want HT on.. it gives you about 5% boost in supports programs..

Make sure that they dont charge you for the time that they spent on it if they cant get it to work.. otherwise you have just handed people money for no work.. If i were you I would ask your employeers IT dept for any ideas before you go and let the geeksquad or some high school "tech" play around with it.
